Chapter 5

Everyone was shocked.
This was the world's richest man. He had never attended any social events, so no one knew where he went on a daily basis.
But why did he show up here today?

Looking at how badly injured Jake was on the stage, everyone suddenly felt uneasy.
While everyone was guessing what the richest man would do, Anson walked quickly next to me.
"See what happens when you don't heed your elders' advice."
At that moment, everyone knew they were done for. They were all finished.
If Anson could give advice to Jake, there was no doubt that they both knew each other.
Those who could read the situation gradually left the scene. Once outside, they would do their best to erase any evidence that could link them to the banquet hall.

"Who said I attended the wedding? I didn't! Who signed my name on the board?!"
I didn't care for anybody. I just lay on the ground and laughed.
"Is watching your son get beaten up on the surveillance camera part of your plan?"
I looked at my dad's stern face. I cleared my throat and said, "Well, just now I…"

Before my father could speak, I took out my phone and snapped a few selfies. I purposefully took closer shots of my wounds.
"There is no use in talking to me. You go and explain to Mom instead."
"Hey! Don't do that! Your mom is getting old. She can't handle this kind of shock!"
But it was too late. Ten seconds after I sent the message, the phone in my dad's pocket started to ring.
"Honey?" my dad answered his phone.
"Anson Warren, what kind of father are you? What were you up to when your son was being beaten up so badly?"
"Honey, please hear me out…"
"I don't care what you have to say! You shut up! What's the point of being the richest man? You should just be a beggar on the street! Where is my son? I will come right now. Anyone who dares to lay a hand on my son, I will fight them with my life!"
I heard my mom's angry voice over the phone. I could see my dad was getting furious.
I smiled, knowing that I still had a family who cared for me.
My dad's mood shifted after he hung up the phone.
I knew that my father was not looking to take revenge for himself. He was afraid that if Mom arrived and found out he had done nothing, he would be in huge trouble.
"Please bring me the guest list."
I had to admit when my father became serious, it felt scary. None of the executives dared to disobey him. They rushed to pass him the guest list.
"Mr. Warren, this is the guest list."
"Oh, not bad! What's your name?" I asked the executive.
Hearing my compliment, he felt honored and replied, "Mr. Warren, I'm Danny Smith. You can just call me Danny."
My dad took up the guest list, and didn't say a word. He frowned, looking displeased.
Only I knew that he just had nearsightedness and astigmatism.
However, people were frightened by my dad's presence. Some were so scared they could barely stand.
Finally, my stubborn old man had given up.
"That's all, that…"
"Danny Smith, you can just call me Danny."
"Ah yes, it's you. You are fired."
Danny Smith immediately became pale when my dad told him that in front of everyone.
I held back my laughter. My dad was at it again with his humor.
