I couldn't help but chuckle at Evan's statements.
Claire could not even enter my dad's company when she wanted to negotiate a business deal back then.
She sat on the roadside, not knowing what to do.
I went with her to beg my dad. It was thanks to me that my dad reluctantly agreed to meet her.
I was the one who personally guaranteed and secured that three hundred billion business deal from my dad.
Who knew Claire would take all the credit for herself?
I was invisible.
When my mom found out about the matter, she felt disappointed, but she said nothing.
Even though my dad still followed up on the project, he never worked with my company again.
My parents had warned me countless times about Claire, telling me that she wasn't as simple as I thought. One day, I would be fooled by her.
Despite their warnings, I just couldn't help but marry her.
I was foolish.
I persisted, and doubt slowly replaced the crowd's accusations.
"Speaking of which, Ms. Luna has never publicly announced her husband, has she?"
"Yeah! Look at Ms. Luna's expression. She looks guilty."
"Looking at Jake Warren, it doesn't seem like he's lying."
Evan clenched his fists tight after hearing the comments.
He looked toward Sky, and Sky immediately threw a red wine onto the ground.
"Shut up! How dare you all believe anything that this madman said! Do you still want to work in the company?!"
"Who doesn't know Evan is my brother-in-law?!
"I saw them falling for each other. What else is there to say?!"
I finally understood why Claire always wanted me to go abroad.
It was because she didn't want anyone from the company to know who her real husband was.
She had told me I would be good at negotiating with foreigners because I had had the chance to travel around the world since I was young. Thinking back, none of what she said was true!
The two of them had always been in contact when I was working abroad over the years!
"That's enough! Please take him out! Don't let him cause more trouble!"
Immediately after, Sky added, "Don't worry, Claire. Leave it all to me!"
Looking at Sky's angry expression, I stepped back.
"What now? Are you scared?
"Where did your courage go when you hit my brother-in-law?!"
I glanced over to Claire.
She looked toward her muscular brother. When she was about to speak, Evan suddenly hugged her from behind and said, "Claire, Sky won't go overboard. Let him teach Jake a lesson. After all, he hurt our baby!"
Claire just stood by and watched. Sky picked up the broken shards from the floor and stabbed them into my arms.
It was excruciatingly painful. I gritted my teeth and shouted, "I am the son of Anson Warren, the richest man on Earth. How dare all of you…"
The crowd laughed in disbelief.
Sky couldn't care less. He stepped on my hand and said, "Can't believe you'd make up lies just so you can get away!"
"Jake is truly a madman. I can't believe I doubted Ms. Luna!"
Sky held my chin and warned me, "Jake, I never thought you'd be such a big liar.
"I'll cut out your tongue later on. Let's see if you can keep telling lies!"
Claire said coldly, "Jake, you are truly crazy! How can you tell such a lie? Do you think Anson Warren, the richest man, is someone you can mess with?!
"Sky, teach him a lesson on Anson Warren's behalf!"
After getting Claire's permission, Sky became bolder.
He stepped on my injured arm. The shards cut deeper into my flesh.
The door suddenly flung open.
"Who's hurting my son?!"
