Emily panicked instantly. Her gaze darted to the door in panic.
She might think her reaction wasn't that exaggerated, but after eighteen years sharing a roof, we all knew her lying tells.
My parents exchanged glances, brows furrowed. They didn’t say a word, but their disapproval of Emily was written all over their faces.
But Emily wasn't even paying attention to it. She was still calculating how to salvage her crumbling scheme.
I sneered in my heart and pretended to look at her helplessly, sighed, "Emily, I just said that you are already an adult now. So you should be responsible for your words and act."
"If he's willing to wait out there like this... Such devotion! You should set the wedding date today."
Emily stared at me in a daze, obviously not knowing how things could have developed in this direction.
She had a strange expression on her face so dissatisfied that as if she wanted to retort but she couldn't because Jack was eavesdropping outside the door.
Her face was extremely twisted, barely repressing the hint of resentment in her eyes.
I lowered my head with a slight smile on my cold face.
In order to provoke Jack to kill us, Emily had racked her brains in scheming.
As she agreed that we would talk privately just now, she deliberately left a crack in the door.
She wanted to plot against us. But this time, I directly made her realize the trap she'd set for us was now snapping shut around her own ankles!
She played tricks on me and betrayed the true love of our whole family. how come I let her escape easily!
My parents knew that Emily was lying, but after all, they had loved her for so many years and wouldn't really be willing to harm her.
They didn't quite agree with my way of dealing with her and admonished me with several irritated glances.
I reassured them and then looked at Emily, who was holding her fists tightly and still in performance. I said calmly, "I'm telling you the truth. You shall consider it carefully. I'll go talk to him."
With that, I quickly walked towards the door, not giving her any chance to protest.
Emily watched me go out with her eyes burning with fire.
As I stepped out, I deliberately left the door open.
Since the door was open, my parents would be cautious about what we were talking about, and with Jack's hot-tempered nature, Emily would only choke on her own schemes.
The scumbag leaning against our gate looked every inch the petty gangster. In the short time we were talking, there were already several cigarette butts scattered on the ground.
Looking at this murderer who killed my whole family in the last life, it was unhonest to say that I wasn't scared.
But now, I have to face him again.
Emily was eager to get all of our family's property, in addition to other malicious intentions in her heart. If I didn't take action, things would go just like in the last life.
My pulse hammering, I got up the courage and walked over with a faint smile on my face.
"Jack, forgive our ignorance last time you came to our family. I'm really sorry about that."
Jack must have learned my attitude towards him because he was still relatively calm, and his eyes looking at me didn't show any irritation.
He was a bit surprised when he saw me apologize. Then, he nodded indifferently and said self-deprecatingly, "Ah, it's okay. For a man with my background, it's normal for rich people to look down on me."
Although he said so, I know clearly that he didn't really think so, because when he spoke, there was a fierce look in his eyes.
