“Got a raise, paying off a car loan, with cash left to spoil your parents and live large.”
“The company,your job,is your life,right?”
“I know.So what!”
I let go of the door,pushed past Daniel’s son,stepped outside,and scanned them.
“Do you know why you're here today, you fools?”
“Because the one paying your salaries, letting you live large,is me!”
“I secured the orders, closed the deals, and earned the money for the company!”
“Because it all depends on me, I can bring the company down, and Fiona, that good - for - nothing, can't do anything about it.”
“So she called you dogs to pressure me,hoping to claw those orders back!”
“But you won’t win.You ungrateful bunch don’t deserve to live large, don’t deserve my money!”
Daniel laughed.
He let out a mocking laugh.
He opened his mouth, ready to retort.
I stepped forward,face-to-face,shutting him down.
“A short-sighted fool like you wouldn’t believe me.”
“And you don’t,because you’re stupid and blind!”
“Wearing the gold bracelet my salary bought, yet you say I’m useless, living off a woman!”
Turning, ignoring Daniel’s rage,I locked eyes with his son.
“You’ve chased orders too.”
“Use that pea - brain of yours - why can I cancel those orders?”
“Think hard.”
Daniel’s son went quiet,brow furrowing.
His eyes darted, flicking left and up.
He was remembering.
About a minute later,he looked at me,brow still creased.
His hostility faded.
He stayed silent.
Daniel,smirking,watched him.
Seeing him silent,Daniel glared at me.
Grabbing his son's arm, he demanded that he speak up and deny it.
“Don’t just stand there—talk!Tell him he’s wrong!”
“No way it’s like he says!”
Daniel shot me a disgusted look.
“He’s just a guy leeching off a woman, good for memorizing books!”
“Useful in school,useless at work!”
“All he's good for is doing housework and serving the family - how could he close deals…”
“Talk,son,talk!”
His son,annoyed,shook off his hand.
“I…I don’t know,stop asking!”
Daniel froze,dumbfounded.
“…Don’t know…”
“How can you not know?If you don’t know,then…is it…true?”
“No way…how could it be…”
I don’t know where Daniel got these ideas.
But as my father, thinking this of his own son—his flesh and blood—was pathetic.
It’s so sad.
But it didn’t matter to me.
I scanned them all.
“Get lost, now.Don’t show up at my door again.”
“Don’t make me call the cops!”
I stepped back inside, slamming the door.
Daniel’s group left.
But they didn’t go home—they went to Fiona’s company.
They went to verify.
At first,Fiona dodged the questions and was vague..
Under relentless questioning,she caved.
“…The company’s success,the orders—it’s mostly his doing.”
“He’s…not wrong…”
I’d said it.
They didn’t believe me.
Now,hearing it from Fiona’s mouth,they were stunned.
