Chapter 128: As Long As You Love Them Right

1678words
Sapphire later found herself at an empty amusement park after driving around, it was dangerous to be behind the wheels in the state she was but she couldn't stay anywhere near the house, her company or anywhere that if she stared at would keep making her remember all that went down.

Sitting at the top of the stairs, she realized that there was no way for her to get away from it because her mind kept wandering back to Shirley's words.

Was she really the stranger in Alexander's house? Had her purpose all been getting the kids safely to their parents after winding through it all? Were the only reasons she got the kids were for the sole purpose of surviving the hard times of losing her own kids? There are a lot of questions roaming in her mind that she knew she would never get an answer to.

There were also many that she could get an answer to if she asked like, how on earth did both kids get to Kat? She clearly remembers Alexander telling her that it was a kid, never saying anything about twins. If he had told her that maybe she would have got that bubble light in her head that suggests she does a paternity test for Alexander and the kids, even if it was just for fun.

How did Shirley, who was said to be dead , suddenly appear at their house? It is very obvious that the last time Alexander talked to her, he didn't know anything about her being alive, nor did he know anything about the kids.

Sapphire removed her phone from the pocket of her pants and searched for her name, Shirley Myles but nothing really came up, it is obvious that she is keeping herself away from the public's eyes. She was forced to search for Alexander's first fiancé and that was when her pictures popped up, of her and Alexander at outings, her picture alone with some friends' _non with her family_ and some pictures of her car accident.

She was known as Sheila Davis, Sapphire guessed that she never mentioned her second name was Shirley though she wondered why she had another surname. Must be because she wanted to stay low.

She looked more beautiful now than she had been before her accident, more mature and she had put on some weight. Was there any chance that Alexander would go back to this woman? After all she had been the woman he was in love with and he mourned her death too. He didn't even get engaged to her through his own will, it was an arranged marriage, which held no candle to true and paced love.

She buried the phone in her pocket and exhaled heavily, her mind went back to her three days stay at Wadestown. She had wanted and planned to settle down at that place, far away from home, a place no one knew of her, she was prepared to cope with all the downside of it but she really needed to heal on her own, at that time she wasn't even sure she won't get the urge to kill herself one day but it is better than staying back home in New York, her sole motivation was that she didn't want to disappoint that good doctor that drag her out of hell.

She had noticed Kat on the very first day she moved there, the woman seemed cheerful but also tense. Anyone could tell that she was under a lot of pressure but she didn't hesitate to help Sapphire, one thing led to another and she discovered that Sapphire just lost her kids. She cheered her up by showing her the kids she had with her and told her that she could come and see them anytime.

At first glance, Sapphire had known that the woman was not the one who had the kids but she didn't think that it was her place to ask questions, she wouldn't like it if someone she just knew started probing her about her past.

She hasn't been able to decide if she loved Wellington or not, heck she is sure that no one from the suburb knew her because it had just been a day since she moved. She never got the chance to decide because Kat, tensed, afraid and desperate, came running to her the second day with her kids in a bag, Sapphire was shocked by the fact that she put the kids in a bag and was about to ask her when she told her that she want her to go away and settle in a new place with the kids.

She explained that her psychopathic husband was on the loose and would soon come for her, he would probably kill her when he got there and wouldn't hesitate to end the kids if he saw them, it would even make him angrier.

She confessed that she wasn't the mother of those kids which made Sapphire refuse her offer to let her take the kids away.

'Their mother is not worth their Sapphire. She is a bitch who would send her kids to a stranger with a whole lot of money as long as they allow her to see her once in a while. It is obvious that the father of the kids is rich and she is capable of taking care of them herself. I know how you cry over the kids you lost every night, there are dark circles around your eyes." She had told her and held her hand in hers. 'It is okay, it would end with me, there is definitely nothing to connect me to you, I am sure that no one knows about you, you can start a new life with the kids.

You definitely look like someone who just had babies and no one would know anything. I can't run away from him forever. Having to live every day in fear of him coming anytime is tiresome and has become a burden to me too. I am a loner too and by the time people suspect that the kids are gone, you would be untraceable. Here is something for you to use to assemble your daily life, if you can't spend it on yourself, spend it on the kids.

If I contact her to come and take her children, she would only switch them to another place and not everyone is a loving mother, some are after the huge amount of money they would get for sheltering the kids. Show these kids some love, Sapphire, raise them as you would raise your kids. From now on they are yours.

I am glad that you came to Wadestown Sapphire, you are the kids' salvation and they are your redemption.

You get to name them what you want and register them under your name, the mother didn't bother to do that. They are your kids and will always be yours and want you as long as you love them right no matter what."

She had received her redemption and got the fastest plane to Gisborne, never informed anyone of her departure, not even the agent, and never left any evidence she was ever there. The last name she used when she was there ‘Finley' was Kat's father's name, she believed her to be the kids' aunt because she wasn't old enough to be a grandmother.

The heartless mother she spoke of was probably Shirley and she was wrong, it never ended with her, after all the days that passed, they finally linked Kat to her and the real mother is about to get the kids back. The realization that she may lose her kids brought hot tears to her eyes.

She didn't know how long she sat in that boring park but it was the ringing of her phone that brought her out of her thoughts. She was grateful that Alexander gave her the space she told him that she needed and never called her.

It was Maxwell calling and that made her remember all the things her grandmother did to her, she didn't want to talk to her but she wanted to tell them to stop calling her and give her the space to get a breath away from them.

'Hello," She said into the phone.

'Sapphire," Max replied and Sapphire sniffed.

'I am listening."

'Are you crying?" He asked when he noticed how hoarse her voice is, she sniffed right at that time. 'Have you heard about it already? I clearly asked them to keep their mouths shut. Who the hell told you? Melissa?" He asked in panic.

'You knew about it too? How long?" Sapphire asked.

'Just today," He answered in a dull voice and she exhaled in relief.

'I see. . ."

'Are you not coming to see her?" He asked and she shook her head.

'I am not." Her voice was clipped and lacking emotion.

'I know that she hurt you Sapphire but you should see her one last time before she is moved to the mortuary," he said in that same dull voice and Sapphire nodded before her eyes widened in shock when she processed her word.

'What?! What are you talking about? What mortuary? Who is being moved there?" She asked, standing up hurriedly and questions coming out of her mouth in quick succession without giving him the chance to answer.

'Wait. You didn't know?" Max asked, now he was the one shocked.

'Answer the damn questions Max!" She screamed at him, her breathing was heavy.

'Calm down Sapphire. Do some breathing exercises and try to hold yourself together." He said and Sapphire tried to regulate her breathing. 'Grandmother is dead." He added in a sorrowful voice.

Sapphire felt every organ in her body stop functioning, her phone slipped through her hand and she felt herself falling to the ground with only a thought in her mind.

"You shouldn't die grandmother, I was lying to both myself and you when I said that I loathe you."
