Chapter 126: The Woman With A Smile

1366words
Sapphire really did woke up to Alexander beside her just like he promised but the man himself was asleep and she took a moment to stare at him, it was with childlike wonder that she muse about how lucky she was to get a man who loves her with her emotional baggage, he knows how to handle her panic attacks very well.

If she had heard this when she first came back to New York, at that time Melissa threatened their grandmother about it, she would have collapsed, her friends support would forever be available but she wouldn't be able to still think as straight as she is doing at that moment. She would hate to let her kids go through another episode of her withdrawing herself from them.

Alexander is really offering and sacrificing a lot for her, any one would mistake him for a man without responsibility how he was there for her every time, but she knows how many things he is ignoring and putting off to cater to her need and she is grateful for that, she only hopes that she would be able to show him how much she loves him too.

She would show her love for him as much as possible on their trip, with her grandmother's betrayal and Phillip's matter on her mind, she believes that a change of scenery would do her a lot of good and makes it easier to breathe, she would have loved to take the kids with her but it was school time and Alexander assured her that they would have a family time out during school breaks.

She stared at her handsome man and couldn't help the smile that appeared on her lips, ever since he abruptly asked her to marry him she had been fantasizing about walking down the alter in the colorful part of her mind. Every action he takes now makes her hit herself on the head for not taking up his offer, their kids would be glad when they hear it.

'I love you a lot, Alexander." She whispered to herself and pressed a kiss to his forehead, then to his lips, she couldn't resist it. 'After I am out of this circle which I know would be soon, I would surprise you with a lot of things that I know that you would love." She continued and giggled to herself silently.

She stood up and went into the shower to take a bath, she shook her head at the image that stared back at her through the mirror, she was glad that mirrors couldn't cry or this one would be having a feat.

She looked so horrible with the red and swollen eyes, messy hair and dry skin, pale dry lips and flushed cheeks, it was a disaster to behold.

'How did Alexander continue to like me with this face? I am pretty sure that he would tell me that I am still pretty even though I am not looking the same at the moment," She muttered to herself as she got ready to take a nice warm bath, the cold shower Alexander made her take the previous day was the devil's call even though it help at that moment.

She found herself in the kitchen after she dressed up in casual clothes, she wouldn't like walking around in her pajamas that afternoon. She took the dishes from the dishwasher and arranged it in their respective spot, Luci must have forgotten to put it back while trying to get her mischievous kids to school, Claire must still be slow and dull, she knew that she liked Matthew a lot, too bad her cousin was an ass.

Her phone rang for the second time and she ignored it again. It was a call from Arielle. It must be her grandmother that forced her to contact her or Arielle wouldn't be caught dead calling her, she is too scared of Melissa to do that. She wondered why she even had Arielle's number in the first place. There are a lot of people she had to cut off from her list, like Arielle, her mother, Matthew, never mind Melissa, she would still find her way to contact her.

It was almost like the woman was obsessed with her, she kept leeching unto her, and she was the first to talk to her when she arrived at New York, almost jinxed her stay in the city but definitely ruined her day that day. The ringing stopped and began again but she still ignored it, she was not ready to talk to her grandmother.

She would make a nice meal for her ‘husband' who is still sleeping and bring him lunch in bed since it is past time for breakfast. She skipped around the kitchen like a child who was visiting the amusement park for the first time. She was very happy.

She heard the bell ring and she paused in surprise. There is no member of the house except her that loves waiting at the door and expecting someone to come and open the door for them except her, they had no patience.

It rang again when she was wondering who it was and that forced her to take action and hurry to the door, she skidded to a halt when she saw that it was a woman standing at the door, she looked familiar but Sapphire could remember where exactly it was that she saw her, the woman was not showing her face to the camera so she didn't got a good view but she could be sure as hell that this woman is confident. It shows in her stance, she contemplated for a bit before she opened the door.

'Hi. . ." She said and the woman turned when she heard her voice, Sapphire eyebrows raised in surprise when she saw her face clearly. It was no wonder that she felt her face was familiar, she was that woman she had bumped into at the café when she went to give Matthew a piece of her mind.

She still looked graceful and confident, she smiled at Sapphire and Sapphire smiled back at her. She was confused as to why she was at the door and what she was looking for.

'Can I come in?" She asked and Sapphire raised a brow in surprise. 'I have something important to tell you."

'Uh. . . about that…"

'Don't worry I mean no harm," she stated and Sapphire opened the door and allowed her to enter, she looked around as if scrutinizing everything and Sapphire pointed the chair to her.

'Tea? Wine? Juice? Water?" Sapphire asked in a cheerful tone.

'Just water is fine. You have a nice house," she said.

'Home." She corrected and she stared at her in puzzlement.

'What?"

'I prefer to call it home. It is my home," Sapphire explained and she nodded. She turned to get her something from the fridge, it is pretty crazy to let a total stranger she met once into the house but there is no big harm, she is going to watch her like a hawk.

'Not for long." The woman muttered and Sapphire turned to stare at her with a frown.

'Pardon?" She asked and the woman nodded with that smile.

'Nothing," She replied.

Sapphire came back with a glass of juice for her and another glass of water for the woman, she paused in her movement when she saw Alexander standing in front of the woman, he had taken a bath and was in casual wears, what made her confuse was the glare on his face directed at the woman.

'What the hell are you doing here?" He asked and she felt a chill run down her spine, she had never heard his voice so cold and spiteful.

The woman's eyes flickered to her and she smiled, she didn't seem like she was bothered in the least by Alexander's anger and coldness. She only continued staring straight into Sapphire's eyes as she opened her mouth.

'I forgot to introduce myself. I am Shirley Myles." She said, still ! maintaining her smile and the tray fell from Sapphire's hand in shock.
