Chapter 185

"We already made a deal, it was a fair bargain so I have no reason to doubt his words." Syrena shot back.

"Fair bargain? how could you call it fair?! he locked your meridians!" Jaxon lets out a frustrated breath, turning a heal and leaned against a wall across the room. He grumpily mumbles anything under his breath in annoyance.

What? I've never heard about this before.

I growled at Syrena. "What's this about locking your meridians?"

Is she insane? Locking a witch's meridians is like sealing their powers in control. To think that she gave that pureblood to control her just to give that information to us.

  Isn't she too loyal?

"Forgive me Alpha King, but it was the only way that could make him talk. I've lived with purebloods before, and force wouldn't work on them. It's better to bargain with them." She hastily bowed in forgiveness.

I sighed. "What were you thinking Syrena? Although I am grateful for what you did, it's still too much to let him lock your meridians, what if he never unlocks it? What would you do then?"

I thought it was enough for me to get angry at her, but I never would've thought that even Jaxon would get so riled up because of the deal she made with a pureblood.

  He fumes.

"Scold her more Alpha King! I tried stopping her but she insisted to agree on that one-sided deal!" Jaxon spats out angrily, his eyes refusing to meet hers.

"One-sided?! Are you saying the information we got is useless?!" Syrena hissed.

"I told you! you can't trust vampires!"

Syrena scowls, her eyes gleaming with anger. "Hah! aren't you funny? I'm a dark witch, how can I not tell by instinct if someone holds me with bad intentions?"

"Dark witch? more like a half-dark witch if you ask me." Jaxon says in a sarcastic tone.

  "YOU!-" Syrena glares at him.

I squinted my eyes, What are they doing? They look like lovers who are quarreling with each other. Things are getting too noisy that I had to stop them from bickering like kids in front of me.

"Stop it both of you! This is not the time to be acting so childish." I sighed.

As soon as their eyes met, they quickly turn away from each other, their expressions filled with irritation. They did stop being noisy but I'm now stuck with dealing with these two scowling faces in front of me.

  I sighed in frustration.

"It's true that it's still a bit sketchy, but we have no other choice but to believe at this sole information we have about the Mist territory. Do you get it Jaxon? so stop blaming it on her, she already sacrificed so much, the only thing we can do is support her now. So calm down will you?"

He lowly growls, not liking the fact that I agreed on her side.

It may sound selfish but Syrena really outdid herself this time, if it weren't for her deal with the vampire, we wouldn't be this prepared in handling the incoming attacks in the future. Because of that, I have no reason to scold her right now.

"It's because she's sacrificing too much for us that it's ridiculous." He mumbles bitterly, "A dark witch offering her life to werewolves? how laughable."

I frowned, looks like teaming them up was a bad idea after all.

"Syrena, go back to your post, I'll call for you later," I ordered.

She bowed in respect before leaving without saying in return, her face stern and filled with determination. As soon as the door closes, Jaxon places his palms on my desk.

"Alpha King! do you really plan on going alone tomorrow? let me come with you!"

  "You can't."

"But I can't let you go alone in the devil's den! what if you never come back? who will lead us?!" He says in a frantic expression, his voice starting to rise due to panic.

"That's more the reason to let you stay here. If I don't come back for the meantime, you have to overlook the matters in here in my place-"

"No! i don't like this plan." He huffs out, his chest rising up. "We understand that it's a rare opportunity to get her back- but alpha! you're also risking the pack's safety if you go there while they attack CenterCity!"

"I know, that's why I've prepared things before I go," I replied, I was starting to get annoyed that I had to shut him up. "Jaxon, no more of this. I don't want to hear another complaint from you, you should have more faith in your alpha. If I say I will go back, I definitely will."

The room became quietly still. His jaw shaking due to the resistance of muttering a word against me, he stood frozen in his spot. I couldn't do anything but wait for his approval and I was right. After minutes passed by, he exhales. "Fine, I'll wait."

  I sighed in relief.

"Even if you take another year to come back, I'll wait Alpha King." He bows.

  I frowned.

A year huh? he must be talking about that time I was captured by Charles in that basement for a year.

He must've waited so long for me.

"Don't worry, i'll definitely get her back this time."

He didn't utter another word in reply. He just casually straightened his back and decided to hand me my documents as usual. I just took that as a response that he didn't like to talk about the matter more than we have.

After a while of scanning the papers, he finally starts reporting today's agenda.

"Alpha King, I've done what you ordered me to do, I've processed the papers for your last .. will." He says with hesitation. "Here."

I picked up the paper and saw the document fully organized how i wanted it to. And of course, Damien's name as the successor below the paper. I smirked, He would be so scared once he knew i put him on my will.

I chuckled and handed "Good, now keep this well."

He frowns, "This is.. just a precaution right? you're not actually giving him Red Blood Moon?"

Well, I don't have any heir or family left so i had no choice but to prepare things like this as well. Even if I wanted to hand Jaxon the pack, he wouldn't be able to manage it well after i'm gone. After all, Jaxon is a free-wolf that just decided to follow me and not the pack. If i were to hand him my land, things may turn ugly.

  I looked at Jaxon.

Right, this guy will abandon everything just to reach me, it's not good to give him a big responsibility. But Damien is different, he possesses great leadership abilities so I trust him that he could lead the pack if something were to happen to me.

"Jaxon, I care about my people and my mate. Just because I'm trying to save her, it doesn't mean I'm abandoning you guys. I told you right? I always find a way." I said.

"A way? and that way is to hand us over?" He mumbles in disappointment.

I closed my eyes in frustration, talking to him while he's being like this won't work. It's been several years since I've seen his face like this, and whenever he's like this- I could tell how unstable he could be.

I sternly looked at him, but only he stared back with a blank expression.

"Jaxon, you may leave now. and don't forget to report to the east border that I will be passing that way at midnight. Remember, if any alphas were to request something for me, tell them I'm away on a mission to get more info."

"To get more info? why would the Alpha King personally take on a mission?"

"Jaxon." I lowly growled. "Just do it."

Thankfully he just nods slowly and left without saying anything anymore in return. Afterward, i stood up on my seat and glanced over the window. It was already night time and the moon was a full moon. I stared at it with caution.

"A full moon huh? What bad luck."

  ♚ CHARLES's POV♚

{"Hello Brother."} Herus smirks while he sat on the throne in front of me.

We were in the throne room with no lights around us. Not even the slightest sound was heard as the moonlight shined from above us. When I tried lighting the place up, I was surprised that I couldn't control anything nor call any servants at the moment.

I strangely looked at my hands, I couldn't feel my demon energy. That's when I realized that I was just dreaming.

  This isn't real.

I gulped, looking at him, I asked myself. Why am I dreaming? this has never happened before. And why..

Why is this guy in front of me right now?

{"Hello? you're ignoring me? and here I thought you missed me."} Herus mockingly laughs at my face.

{"Is that really you? so despite being a weakling you still managed to wake up from your dormant state huh?"} I said with a cold expression.
