Chapter 184
1630words
Thinking back, I can't believe this fool dared to use my name to order such a thing when I've always declined their presumptuous request before. I never thought they'll act secretly during these times of war against the vampires.
What do they take me for? Did they think I'm not surveilling them since I've been busy?
Stupid fools.
"Throw him in Maria, and if anyone dares objects me right now, then i will assume they are also involved in this fool's doing," I said and sat down slowly on my seat.
I glared at him.
Alpha Louis couldn't retaliate any further, even his beta stood by as he got beat up by me. His beta's eyes filled with contempt as he held himself back to help his useless alpha in my hands.
My men forcefully grabbed Alpha Louis by his arms and neck before leading him outside the room, not anyone was able to utter anything that it made me relieved that i don't have to drag another brainless alpha in my territory.
Tch.
If it wasn't for me reading one of the surveillance reports in Moon Valley pack, then I wouldn't have known that they did such a thing behind my back. Things are already a mess, what they did just made things worst.
Christal won't like it if she knows about this.
As soon I knew about it, I held another continental meeting just to punish that bastard and to also warn the others before they betray me by being useless.
I clenched my jaw, if I wasn't leading all these packs then I would've just killed them all in one strike but i won't do that since I can't handle such a big number of citizens on the continent.
Finally convincing myself not to kill them right now, I coughed. "I have gathered everyone here today after we received a useful piece of information. I know that we have already talked about our strategy for the incoming war, but it looks like we will have to change some things."
They turned towards themselves, giving a skeptical look.
"The purebloods have decided to launch an attack on CenterCity tomorrow, it was only a piece of information so we have to take into consideration that they might also attack some other packs as well at the same time."
They all growled in anger, not liking the thought of how bold the vampires to be attacking so soon after they just massacred a whole bunch of species. Even thinking about it makes my insides turn.
The audacity those bloodsuckers have!
"I can't believe this, they are attacking too random so it makes it hard for us to predict their next move. But if you think about it, aren't they moving too fast in their plans? just what are they planning to be this hasty?" Alpha Roberto curses under his breath.
"What else? isn't it obvious? they want to annihilate us, after all, we forced them into hiding in the past." Alpha Julius replies.
"I doubt that, Vampires are not ambitious. They don't hold a grudge enough to kill us all seeing that they lack in numbers. It's more agreeable to think that they're being forced to. Don't you find it strange? the pureblood families have never been on friendly terms with each other so what's making them suddenly join forces and even follow someone with unknown origins to lead them all?" Damien cuts in, his stern face sending all of us into thinking.
He's right.
There's no reason for vampires to join forces just because of a hundred-year-old grudge.
So.. is it really just because of a selfish goal?
"Since they're being hasty, there's no need to hold back Alpha King," Damien nods at me. "If they want a war, we'll give them war. We await your orders!"
I frowned.
Damien looked exhausted.
He must be still grieving about the death of his Vampire hunter friends, just by looking at his eyes, it was enough to tell how his hatred seethed into his bones, his playful behavior slowly fading into nothing but anger.
Everyone just nodded, acknowledging the young alpha's determination.
Everyone knew how little time we were given to prepare since the vampires have been continuously giving us problems without rest, even going as far as to cause a rift between us and the humans.
Thankfully the human leader trusts me more than i thought.
I sighed, "I know everyone is anxious, but we have yet to recover the number of senior werewolves injured before, so tell me, how do you plan to retaliate against them right now?"
Damien slams his fist on the desk, "That's easy! lend all your witches to all of the packs then we wouldn't have to worry about lacking regenerative magic!"
My eyes widened, even the others were surprised by his suggestion since werewolves never liked dark witches in the first place. It's also one of the reasons why many packs condemned Red Blood Moon for housing a huge number of Dark Witch.
"Damien, do you know what you're saying?" I raised an eyebrow. "Other alphas have yet to acknowledge Dark witches alongside us, you're making a desperate rash decision right now."
"What? Rash? we don't have any leisure to be thinking about preference right now! heck we shouldn't even be wasting our time talking to ourselves after hearing that they're gonna attack tomorrow! We're so left behind if you continue like this- do you all think we can win this war?!"
I glared at him.
"Damien, calm down."
"No! we're losing our numbers! if they match us or even outnumber us, do you think we can handle that? we're already being pressured to losing our resources! if we don't act as fast as them, we will just fight a war with an empty stomach!" He huffs in anger, not holding back against me.
Everyone was silent, they were looking at the both of us with anxious eyes, but more to Damien since he was being straight disrespectful towards me. Truthfully, it delighted me how he was speaking his mind and even giving me great suggestions right now.
This is what i've been wanting to hear in this meeting.
I smirked, "Empty stomach you say? Since you think so, why not let others see if they agree first to let me send them a group of witches today?"
The tension in the room worsened, each of them giving an anxious look towards each other. It was obvious how they were contemplating to agree or not. Although they made a displeased face, they weren't able to resist Damien's offer due to his explanations.
I smirked, good job Damien.
They slowly raised their hands in agreement, not muttering a word as if they were being forced to execution.
I chuckled, "Then it's settled, I'll send a group of dark witches in each pack today in haste, I expect you to at least show them some courtesy to not cause extra trouble for me."
"Now, let's discuss other matters. First off, the change in our plans." I started.
=========
After the continental conference ended, we all came back rushing to our own packs as everyone was on high alert due to the recent attacks that have been happening too frequently near borders.
As we settled down in my office, Jaxon places the documents on my desk.
He lets out a sigh, "Thank god Alpha Damien brought it up, if you were the one who did, they'll definitely disagree."
I nodded.
It really was a relief since I'm the only pack that houses witches if I were to suggest it. It would definitely look one-sided. That is why it was a good thing that Damien decided to speak up despite being influenced by his emotions.
"So what now Alpha? now that they'll attack tomorrow, what do you plan to do now?"
"Since they want to attack, then we'll let them attack."
"What?!" Both he and Syrena yell in shock, stepping forward towards my desk with unbelievable eyes.
"Shouldn't we evacuate the people first?" Jaxon says worriedly.
"Of course, who says I wouldn't?"
"But.. you just said you'll let them attack? If you let them attack, then who are they exactly attacking?" He tilts his head in confusion.
That's right, I've already decided on a plan right now.
And it involves a great amount of risk.
I frowned, despair lingering around me when I already made up my mind. They must've noticed since I wasn't able to hide my emotion with my expression, my lips curling down in dismay.
"No matter how I think about this, after hearing that they'll attack tomorrow, I can't think of any other great opportunity to get her. I'm afraid if I don't see her tomorrow, I'll really never see her again." I said, barely a whisper.
"What.. are you planning on going alone?" Syrena asks.
I nodded, "I can't bring anyone with me, it's too risky."
She chuckles bitterly, "No matter how much we stop you, you'll still go right?"
I stared at them with a blank expression. "What's the point in asking? I'm only informing you, I never asked for any of your permission."
She sighs but smiles after, "Although it's still risky, it's better than directly confronting the vampire lord on your own. It's a good thing Ramuel emphasized that the vampire lord will be personally attacking."
"How can you trust that leech? you don't know if he said that to lure us." Jaxon shot back.
Syrena turns away in annoyance. "Ramuel have no reason to lie to me."
"Aren't you being too trusting with that leech?" Jaxon sneers at her.
