After telling Christal about what happened, i expected another blow in the face, and i received it. My lip bleeding from the punch she gave me. She breathes heavily from anger.
It's not like i don't regret everything i did back then. How could i forget the thing i did towards my brother? I was only stuck at that place for 3 years while he stayed there for a Decade. After he came back, he was unrecognizable to the extent that i had to help him adapt to this world. Even if he cursed me and beat me half dead, i still stayed by his side because of my guilt.
I felt that i killed him the second time i left him there.
"How could you leave him there?! how could you!?" She cries helplessly. "how could we do this to him?"
"Stop crying, what's done is done, this is my retribution."
"No!" she fell to the ground.
"If you hadn't met us, you wouldn't have to get involved." i said. "It's our destiny to fall into that pit now matter what, it runs in our blood. So don't blame yourself, even if you didn't meet us, everything would still be the same." i frowned, my heart clenching in pain.
"Do you hear me idiot?" i yelled at her. "Stop crying like a child, no one will answer your prayers even if you pray."
She wipes her tears, she gets up and pushes me away to get inside the mansion. The rain poured harder as if it grieved with us.
What is there even to grieve? It was all too late.
My eyes widened when she goes towards the direction of the basement, i ran towards her and held her hand. "What the hell do you think you're doing?!"
She pushes me away. "I'm sorry for being selfish, but i can't love him at all. I'm sorry!"
"i know!" i said. "The moment my brother died, you lived in guilt for years, and i think it's best this way. I don't want him to do something he wouldn't want to do."
"huh? What do you mean?"
i looked away from her. "In your awakened state, you can easily break the barrier now. Go save him before my brother returns," i replied.
She snapped back and nodded quickly, wiping her tears. She hurriedly went down with me into the basement.
It still puzzles me, that the only thing to suppress this Alpha King is to lead him to his slumber, since sleeping relieves all emotion, making him unable to awaken any power. Brother truly prepared for this for the AlphaKing since he could not kill him at his current state.
"Zyrus.." She said worried as she saw her mate.
I stepped back when she suddenly surges into power, her hair turning into white. A sudden gust of wind enters out of nowhere, and the AlphaKing finally fell to the ground, the chains unleashing him as it fades away with the wind.
She hurriedly comes to his side, picking him up in her arms.
"Christal, i think you should step back."
She glared at me. "What you changed you mind to help me?"
My eyes widened, not because of her dialogue but when the AlphaKing's eyes opened, he chokes her immediately and raises her up mid air. His glare filled with menance he said "Who the fuck are you?"
Don't tell me Charles erased his memories?
"Let go of her! you're gonna regret if you kill her!" i yelled.
"Ugh!" Christal gasps for air. "Z-Zyrus!"
"How did you know my name." his grips tighten.
Shit, it must be because she's in her awakened state that her wolf presence is no longer there. Meaning sensing the mate bond is useless.
Left with no choice, i shifted into my wolf and lunged at the Alphaking, successfully he lets go of Christal. He didn't shift, yet he was able to subdue me in seconds. He grips my neck, i whimpered in pain as he hardened his hold, as if he want to tear me to pieces already.
"don't k-kill her!" I almost begged. "You gotta keep her alive, she can tell you why you're here!"
He looks at her in anger then shifts it right back at me. "Then you're useless."
i smirked. is this it?
"NO ZYRUS! DON'T KILL HIM!"
That was the last thing i heard before darkness consumed my vision. Thinking about everything, i regretted a lot of things back then, i was afraid of death yet why am i welcoming it in such a peaceful manner?
I'm sorry Brother, i could no longer be useful to you.
CHRISTAL's POV
As i fell forcefully on the ground, i gathered my strength as much as i could. But the next thing that happened surprised me. In a matter of seconds, Zyrus beats Herus.
"NO ZYRUS! DON'T KILL HIM!" i begged.
Something was wrong, Zyrus couldn't recognize me anymore!
I became so desperate that i forced my knees to stand up even though i could no longer feel my legs from going numb. Unfortunately there was nothing i could do when he snaps Herus' neck easily.
i screamed in anguish. "Herus!"
At last, i felt energy surging all through my body, that i didn't notice that i was already next to Herus, crying myself in pain. "No! this can't be happening!"
You're all he has left!
My hand shook as i stared at his lifeless body in my arms, looking back i treated him like my own brother. Even though there were some times he acted like a nuisance, i've come to realise he was doing all of it just for us. He was not selfish and arrogant as i thought all this time, now it was too late to pay all those debts to him.
"Tell me, What am i doing here?" Zyrus asks with arrogance.
i chuckled, still sobbing hard from Herus' death. Love is really a pain in the ass, even though he killed him, i can't get myself to hate him.
i glared at him.
He smirks. "Want to kill me for killing your lover?"
"Have you gone insane?!" i hysterically shouted.
His eyebrow furrowed, in a split second, He managed to lock his hands around my neck. Thankfully i have awakened that i managed to loosen his grip and push him back.
Herus must've sealed his memories too.
"It's not gonna be easy for you to kill me." I smirked. "And it's not like you can."
He growls. "What do you mean?"
"I saved you life didn't i? shouldn't you be at least thankful?"
He paused and stares at me, his killing intent subsiding as time passes.
"Thankful? Why should i be thankful to a demi god?" He chuckles. "We're even now, so i'll spare your life." He turns his back on me.
"Wait! where are you going?" i asked bewildered. "this place is packed with vampires!"
He glances back to turn to me. "Desperate? i already told you i'm not gonna kill you woman. trying to keep me here any longer will just result in your death."
Well it's not like he can't get out of here since he's super strong just by himself, but this time i really have to stick to him, this time i can't manage to loose him any longer. I have to help him escape and rethink of a plan.
There's no choice then.
As he was about to leave, i focused my power in hitting a powerful blow against his head to break the seal.
"jackpot."
As expected, even an AlphaKing wasn't able to dodge in time because of it. He was blown away by trying to block the energy i threw at him.
He growls angrily.
"how could i let go of the guy who killed my lover?" I smirked, a bit nervous that my mate was gonna pounce at me at any moment.
It was the first time my mate battled me seriously to death. As he pounced at me, he tried landing several punches and i could hardly dodge at all, thankfully i placed several layers of protective enchantments around my body that it lessened the pain of the impact.
To my surprise he was able to break my double layer enchantment, he managed to secure me by restraining both of my hands.
damn, this guy is just way too strong.
"Should i break this annoying hands of yours?" He Threatens.
Nervous that he was serious, i immediately surrendered. "Wait! don't! i was just trying to defend myself!"
"Defend? you were clearly on offense!" He growls once again. "Who sent you?"
"Look now is not the time for questions! we have to escape from this place." i replied, trying to change the subject that i did try to attack him.
He chokes me all of a sudden. "don't play with me."
"u-ugh! Stop it! let g-go of me!" i said, trying to release his hands from mine. "you can't do this to me!"
"Why not? snapping this fragile neck of yours will be as easy as killing a bug." He seethes, his grip tightening.
He's serious! How can he not recognize me?!
'Run Christal! He won't recognize you anymore! You don't have your wolf presence anymore!' Gina warns me.
