Chapter 241

Della’s POV

Mr.K’s eyes lingered on me for a while before he let out a smile. Grabbing the neck of a liquor bottle, he handed it to me, which I accepted while holding my breath.

I didn’t know how he did that, but he surprisingly managed to keep his eyes on me while he did all of that, not even dropping a single drop of wine on the table.

“As you wish,” he said, and his deep voice radiated in the air, bringing an unidentifiable tension around us.

My eyes went down to the transparent bottle that was half full, with gold content and a Black Label on its gold and black-plated sticker.

I remember this drink. It’s one of the hard liquors that Albert told me about, and it is something the elite circle likes to drink. Though he said it tasted a bit sweet, it’s easy to get drunk from it because of its high alcohol content.

Stiffening the glass a little, I let its alcoholic but sweet scent wrap my nose before I took a sip.

It brought a burning sensation to my throat, but as Albert said, it indeed tasted sweet. There was this smooth, smokey deliciousness that seemed to wrap my soul.

Which only made its taste more delectable.

I stared at Mr. K, who took a sip from his own glass, and I wondered as I watched him, ‘If it’s not related to Kylian, then what kind of deal is Mr. K on about?’

My eyes squinted as I tried to read his gestures.

According to the information Sapphire gathered, though ignited with power, Mr. K and the Deadtails engage in only legal and lucrative business in the industry, such as pharmaceuticals.

But as far as I know, Wakeland had nothing like that offer except for jewelry raw materials, which the royal family mostly monopolized.

He placed his drink down and finally fed my curiosity. “I want access and rights in the Ruby mine.”

The ruby mine?

Indeed, the Wakelands’ Ruby Mines were very rich in rubies, which became our top excess resource, but it’s not material in demand for the werewolves because its sharpness and properties were too hard for our tastes.

Hence, it sold in bulk but did not have much purpose, which made it very cheap.

But what would he need that for? Should I sell him the jewelry made of rubies, which was monopolized by the royal family, instead?

I’ve been in the Dark Moon Pack long enough to know that their pack also had a lot of excess resources from their Ruby ore resources.

Mr. K had said it himself. He had already cooperated with them before and admired Kylian’s partnership, so why did he bother coming to me for a negotiation when he could easily access the Dark Moon Pack’s resources?

I couldn’t help but be skeptical about that.

Because of my confusion and doubts, I didn’t realize that I had been staring at him for a long time with furrowed brows until he leaned closer to me, and I smelled his intoxicating fresh scent.

I blinked a couple of times to pull myself together, only to be greeted by his gentle yet serious stare as he asked, “Are you thinking if I’m getting interested in entering the jewelry industry?”

Well, I finally came to the conclusion that Mr. K wanted the jewelry-grade rubies that belonged to the royal family.

Although this idea was crazy for an ordinary businessman, there was no other explanation.

I sighed and leaned back to give both of us a sensible space, but I kept quiet as I couldn’t form a word that wouldn’t come off as offensive.

I need to be mindful of my acts, especially now that the situation here in Wakeland is very delicate.

If there’s someone who could help me establish a strong footing here the fastest, it would be Mr. K. That's why I needed to gain his support, even if it meant I had to consider selling him the rubies jewelry owned by our family.

Although that would not bring any general advantage to the royal family, I’m sure I could convince my father and brother to agree. After all, Mr. K’s support would help me.

I looked at Mr. K. and kept silent, which indirectly proved that my guess was correct.

I really think he has some ideas about the ruby jewelry business that was originally monopolized by our royal family.

Surprisingly, the sexy lips under the mask raised a charming arc. I have to admit that even with a mask, Mr. K is still a very charming man. The pair of deep blue eyes not covered by the mask looked at me deeply, sincerely and passionately.

His voice was low and serious, hoarse with sadness. “It’s only natural for you to think that way, but no. I won’t venture into the jewelry business and be part of the royal family’s rival because someone in the royal family is very important to me.”

A lace of sadness was hinted in his tone, and his eyes flashed with glimmered pain as he continued, “So, that’s one industry that I wouldn’t interfere with.”

My breathing hitched, and I stared at him, trying to read his expression, though most of his face was behind his mask.

A very important person in the royal family?

Mr. K was indeed very mysterious. Who could it be? Was it his family, a girlfriend, or a spouse? Do I know them?

Now, I couldn’t help but wonder if they were close to me or a distant relative.

For a businessman like him to consider such a thing and go to such lengths for someone so important to him, I think she’s very lucky.

I smiled gently, looked at Mr. K, and said, “If you don’t mind, may I ask who that person is?”

I felt weird when his eyes dimmed with pain and longing while he stared at me.

Then, his voice turned so deep and husky when he said his next words.

“She’s someone who is more important in my life. She’s…”
