Chapter 240

My dress flowed in grace as I took slow steps on the stairs, my hand gliding through the railing.
Standing in front of the VIP lounge, I stared at the closed elegant door made of glass and carved wood.
I straightened my skirt and fixed my hair as I smiled professionally.
After receiving Mr. K’s help earlier, I gestured for Sapphire to prepare the most luxurious lounge, especially for Mr. K, and she didn’t let me down.
As I twisted the door open, I greeted, “Mr. K. I hope you like the place.”
My eyes wandered around the room. In the middle of the room was a black glass coffee table with expensive bottles of drinks on top. The sofas were also wide and looked extremely soft with their thick foam.
A 64-inch television was in front of the sofa, and a crystal chandelier in the ceiling brought a dim but fascinating glow inside the room.
“Princess Della.” In the middle of the sofa, Mr. K stood up as he put down the crystal glass on the table.
His hands went inside his pocket, and his eyes visible beneath his mask, glimmered with admiration.
My heart beat incredibly fast from that.
Why was he looking at me like that? It’s so deep and solemn, almost like he felt a desire for me…
“Please, have a seat,” he gestured to the other seat as he handed me a glass of wine.
Though I accepted the wine and seated, I couldn’t help but be conscious of how his eyes remained staring at me.
Swallowing, my hold on the wine glass tightened. And while he sat down, I took a gulp of wine to calm my nerves before I took a deep breath.
Looking straight back at his eyes, tons of questions flooded my mind.
What’s his relationship with Kylian? Why did he help me? Did it really have nothing to do with Kylian? But if that’s the case, then why did he go out of his hiding to lend me a hand?
My eyes turned a bit sharp as a thought bothered me. If he came because of Kylian, though, I’d rather make a fool of myself than accept anything from Kylian.
“I can see that you have a lot of questions for me.”
I was jolted back to reality when I heard Mr. K’s monotonous voice.
He grabbed his glass drink again and placed it above his crossed legs, tapping his long and slender fingers on the side of the glass.
Taking a deep breath, I finally asked the question that’s been bothering me for a long time. “Do you know the alpha of Dark Moon Pack, Alpha Kylian?”
Tilting my head, I went on, “Are you acquainted with him by chance?”
His fingers suddenly came to a halt, and his eyes shook a little. “Will this matter impact our future cooperation?”
Raising my chin, I firmly replied, “Yes.”
He went silent for a while, making me anxious that my suspicion was correct.
His eyes turned a bit darker, and his tone became serious, “And why is that?”
Dominance radiated all over him, and his tone was so powerful that if I wasn’t a Princess, I’d probably feel a chill on my spine.
I stared at him for a while, thinking how I should answer him. But then, I realize that after what he did earlier, I’m sure for a fact that he’s my ally. I guess… there’s no harm in telling him then?
Taking a sip of wine, I shared, “I had a bad experience with the Dark Moon Pack, which not only damaged my reputation but also brought shame to my family. I wish no longer to be involved with them again.”
My eyes squinted as I saw his lips pursed into a thin line.
Why would he be affected?
“So, do you regret what you experienced with Alpha Kylian?” His tone was calm and sounded casual, but I couldn’t help but feel weirded out of it… It’s as though his tone was controlled and masked.
But I pushed down those feelings as I turned silent at his question.
Hearing it, I also asked myself. Did I regret it?
Honestly, I don’t know the answer for that. It’s been three years. Three years, and there were still many unanswered questions and untangled feelings in my heart.
Up until now, as much as I try to deny it, I still couldn’t help but be affected by Kylian and anything involving him.
Suddenly, our memories together started flashing before me like a landslide once again. My heart beat fast at the reminder of our sweet moments, and my heart trembled at the pain of those times he betrayed me.
“Fool! Stop thinking about that bastard!” I scolded myself.
Taking a deep breath and blinking a couple of times, I managed to calm myself.
Looking up at Mr. K, I nonchalantly replied, “That question is meaningless. It’s my private matter, so I refuse to answer it.”
I stared at me for a while, and his lips parted as if he wanted to ask me more questions. However, he closed it again and simply nodded his head.
Sitting upright, I asked him again in a firm and urging tone, “So, do you know him?”
“I do know him,” he replied as he placed down the glass on the table.
My eyes widened a bit, and my hands held my dress. Did he know him?
“But…” he continued, “I’m not exactly familiar with him.”
That brought a sudden relief in my fast-beating heart.
Shrugging his shoulders, he went on, “I’m a businessman, after all. Networking is one of my fundamental skills.”
He nodded his head. “I’ve made a few dealings with the Dark Moon Pack, and I’m not gonna lie: Alpha Kylian is a reliable partner. We’ve met a few times because of that, but I couldn’t say we’re anymore closer in private. Does that satisfy your question, Princess?”
Of course, it’s normal for powerful people like Alphas and other businessmen who are in the same circle to have dealings and actually know each other. It’s a bit stupid of a question, actually.
But at least I got what I wanted to know. Kylian’s not behind his act.
I smiled and nodded my head. “It sounds reasonable. I do hope that you understand my concern as well.”
With that, I raised my glass and offered a toast.
He was silent for a while, but he still let out a smile and grabbed his glass again to click it with mine. “I understand very well,” he said.
As I sipped my drink, I kept my eyes open and stared at him, seeing through the smile he had plastered on his godly face.
It’s so beautiful and yet… fake. I’m not sure, but there’s something tagging in my heart that made me think that way.
But whatever that might mean, what’s important right now is that he’s not with Kylian, and we could cooperate.
Finishing my drink, I put my hands on my lap and looked at him seriously. “So now, can we talk about our cooperation?”
