Chapter 239

Kylian's POV

Without looking back, I left the main hall and turned toward the massive stairs on the side leading to the exclusive lounge.

With a hand in my pocket, I took long but calm strides inside and leaned my back and arm on the interior balcony railing that looked down to the main hall. My face was slightly tilted, giving me a perfect peripheral view of the main hall while I looked at the man who was approaching me.

"Alpha," Henry greeted.

He was wearing a brown phantom mask, hiding perfectly his familiar face.

"Henry," I greeted back with a nod after he got closer enough.

"You did well," I added as I watched the crowds continue to swarm inside the hall.

Handing me a glass of champagne, he reported, "As soon as you gave me the orders, I immediately sent out the letters to every residence. With how effective our medicine was, everyone instantly got terrified."

Sneering, he added, "Look, some of them didn't even have the time to change their clothes as they came running in here."

Nodding in satisfaction, I went toward the VIP room and sat down on the sofa with my legs crossed and my back leaned on the backrest as I took a sip of my wine. Gesturing toward the door, Henry immediately closed it in understanding.

“Della didn’t recognize me. Not even the slightest.” I monotonously uttered as my hands tightened on the glass.

His brows furrowed while he took strides and sat before me. “Shouldn’t that be a good thing? Why do you look so gloomy instead?”

Slamming the glass down on the coffee table and letting some of its contents slip, I angrily growled, “Good thing?”

I sneered. “She didn’t even have some doubts! Three years! It’s been three years, and she seemed to have completely forgotten about me!”

He raised his brows, tilted his head, and shook his head with a mocking smirk. “Seriously?”

Letting out a small laugh, he continued, “You worked out to change your body, and you made an effort to change your voice tone when talking to her. It’s expected that she won’t recognize you.”

I bawled. He was right, though. I took that much effort. But still! I couldn’t help but feel annoyed that she didn’t have second doubts that it might be me who was in front of her.

“So, what’s your plan now?”

Sighing, I grabbed one of the black labels from the table and poured an empty crystal glass in front of me. Shrugging, I replied, “I made an appointment with Della to discuss the matters in Wakeland. I want their resources in Ruby ore.”

“Ruby ore?” Henry looked at me like I had just grown two heads on my neck. “That’s useless to us! Dark Moon Pack has more than what they have. We are their extra source, remember?”

Finishing half of the glass, I closed my eyes as I let the burning sensation of alcohol relax my nerves. “It might be useless for werewolves, but it sure is useful for the White Bear Pack living in extremely cold places.”

“The White Bear Pack?!” he asked in surprise, and I nonchalantly nodded.

Every year, hundreds of members of the White Bear Pack die from the cold. Since Ruby ore was very effective in thermal insulation once added as a powder to building materials, they tried to acquire as much of it as possible.

Still confused, he continued to ask, “But the White Bear Pack is known for being in seclusion. They’re very dangerous. How do you plan to contact them?”

Smirking, I boasted, “I already did. Chief Tyson, their leader, already agreed to buy all the Ruby ore we are willing to sell to him.”

“How?”

Smiling with a glint in my eyes, I solemnly said, “For Della, I fear nothing. I’ll even walk in the hell of fire just to be with her.”

He narrowed his eyes, not believing it could be so easy, but only ended up shaking his head, knowing I wouldn’t say a thing.

Well, it indeed wasn’t easy. The White Bear Pack was a wild pack. They respect nothing but power and strength. So, that’s what I gave to them.

A month ago, I ventured into their territory alone and asked their chief for combat, which he didn’t decline, as they thirsted for a duel and to prove their skills. Though I gave my everything, I didn’t win, but I didn’t lose either.

We fought for hours, but the duel ended in a draw, and we became friends instead. Although I admit that I accumulated a lot of injuries in that fight, I didn’t regret it, for I gained more than I suffered – the freedom to do business with the White Bear Pack that no packs had ever succeeded in before.

Subconsciously, I raised my hand and slid my fingers through the left side of my chest, feeling the embossed gauzed wound on it. Though the pain was still excruciating, a smile still formed on the corner of my lips like I’d gone crazy.

‘Just wait, Della. Little by little, step by step, I’ll slowly pull you in and make you dependent on me without you knowing.’ I vowed to myself while I finished the contents of my glass.

She might have already chosen to marry Albert, but I’ll ensure that she ends up with me no matter what happens. I won’t let her completely forget about me. One way or another, I’ll make sure every string of her life would be entangled with mine, so much so that she could no longer escape from my grasp ever again.

Looking at my empty glass, I sighed and placed it back on the coffee table with a furrowed brow. “This tastes good, but… It’s very strong. Stronger than usual, I remember; it sure can easily make others drunk.”

“Mr. K, this is Princess Della. May I come in?” A knock on the door was followed by Della’s angelic voice and my thoughts instantly went blank.

Henry swiftly handed me my masks, and I wore them. Once I was done, I nodded toward the window.

“Hurry!” I instructed.

Quickly, he stood up and opened the window. With a joking salute, he jumped off from to the ground floor and dusted off his tuxedo like nothing had happened before walking away.

Once he was gone, I straightened my clothes and fixed my mask before I opened the door. Signaling with my arms, I let her in. “Princess Della.”

She looked at me as soon as she came in, and her eyes lingered on mine, completely captivating my soul. My heart beat fast and loud, and my world seemingly stopped as her lips slowly lifted into a smile I hadn’t seen for a long time.

I’m coming, Della.
