“Albert?” Trisha excitedly asked, jumping with joy as she instantly became excited upon hearing his name.
“Let’s meet him!” she insisted. “I want to meet him! Come one, let’s find him? Pretty, pretty, please? With cherry on top?”
I momentarily close my eyes to pull myself together before sighing heavily. “Trish, have you forgotten what happened already? And, aren’t you overly excited?”
Guilt surged in me as that night flashback in my mind.
Up until now, I didn’t know what exactly happened or why it came to that. But as soon as I saw Albert’s face shadowing Kylian’s while we were love making, I felt guilty.
I felt guilty because I enjoyed it. I felt guilty because I became overly excited then as well and reached an incredible orgasm.
And that guilt was eating me.
Probably because of that guilt, my heart skipped a beat before it frantically accelerated.
I wasn’t sure why that happened then, but there’s one thing I was more than sure, and that’s the love I have for Kylian.
What happened then was just a mere illusion. A hallucination of some sort, brought by something I couldn't tell.
Nevertheless, it’s not important. What’s more important was the fact that I’m bearing Kylian’s pup in my bell.
I raised my head, took a deep breath, and tried to force a smile.
‘Come on, Della. As long as today passes by in peace and correctly, Jackson will accept Kylian as your mate,’ I encouraged myself.
Once that happens, I’ll be Kylian’s official mate and we both could finally be together in peace and love.
“Albert told me priorly that he won’t manage to attend today’s event. You probably got it wrong,” I told Fae while suddenly having a keen interest on the clothes hanging behind her instead of looking her in the eyes.
“Oh, no…” She looked up at me and instantly knew.
Damn! I couldn’t hide anything from her, could I?
She hastily finished placing my petticoat on my waist and stood up to embraced me after seeing the guilt etched in my face.
“I know… You probably feel guilty about what happened between you and Albert, but it’s not your fault.”
She pulled back a bit without letting go of me and looked dead into my eyes. “None of it were.”
“Don’t think too much about it, alright? Just focus on living a good life and having your pup. You’ll have a bright future ahead,” she continued, handing me the gown for final touch.
“Thank you,” I uttered and grabbed the gown from her.
She helped me with everything; from wearing the gown, picking jewelry, shoes, and even on doing my makeup and hair.
With a best friend like her, what more could anyone ask for? She’s awesome!
“Oh my moon goddess! You’re gorgeous!” Fea exclaimed as we both looked at my reflection on the full length mirror.
“Thank you.”
“Oh, it’s all on you, you beautiful girl!” She tapped my shoulder and pointed at the door. “Now, go wait for your prince charming.”
With grace and elegance, shoulder pulled back, and back straight, I walked through the corridor of the venue. My stiletto brought echoes as it collided with the marble floor, evidently foretelling anyone near my presence.
Stopping a few feet near the entrance of the banquet, I stared at the clock in the hall, feeling incredibly anxious.
“Fifteen minutes…” I uttered under my breath, biting my lip anxiously while my heart went wild with it’s fast beat.
Only fifteen minutes left before the event starts and there’s still no sign of Kylian.
Grabbing my phone from my purse, I immediately called Kylian.
One… Two… Three… Three ringtones and still no answer.
“Sorry, the number you dialed is either unattended, or out of coverage area. Please call again later.”
My foot started tapping the floor as anxiousness crept more into me.
“Henry!” I shouted and immediately dialed Henry’s number.
After a few ring, he finally answered.
“Luna…” he called in an unsteady voice, making me narrow my eyes in curiosity.
In the background, I could hear the loud noises of voices speaking. “What’s going on in there? Where’s Kylian? Why isn’t he here yet?”
“Henry?” I called out again when he didn’t replied.
Clearing his throat, he answered in a rather fast but hesitant tone. “W-we encountered s-some trouble and it might take some time so…”
Furrowing my eyebrows, I pressed on, “What is it?”
Whatever that was, as a Luna, I also have the right to know.
“Uhm… Alpha Kylian will explain it to you later, Luna. I… I have to go now…’” With that vague answer, he hastily hunged up the phone on me.
It’s as if… he’s hiding something.
With a fast-beating heart, I anxiously hid my phone and started phasing around the hall.
What the hell exactly did Jackson do?
Intense curiosity and suspiciousness crept in me.
I was very nervous into thinking that Jackson probably done something unforgivable just to stop Kylian.
‘He didn’t possibly sent someone to attack him, did he?’ I asked silently as many assumptions came to my mind.
“Agh! Why does Jackson need to be so overprotective?” I voiced out in frustration.
“Because this overprotective man loves you so dearly, my lovely sister.” Jackson’s voice echoed from behind, startling me.
“You’re here.”
Jackson wore a custom-made suit that hugged his powerful muscles. Cuffs and tie clips on him sparkled. Now I can understand why so many women like my brother. He was indeed a hottie.
But at this moment, his strong jaw was tense, declaring his dissatisfaction with my complaint just now.
He held a wine glass as he approached me. Gone with the teasement, he seriously asked when he reached me, “Everything alright? What happened?”
“Nothing.” I immediately composed myself upon saying that.
I fear that if he saw my anxiousness, he’d think that Kylian failed, so I acted as if nothing happened.
Narrowing my eyes at him, I opened my mouth and was about to ask if he did something to stop Kylian, when he suddenly placed the wine glass on one of the tables and embraced me from the side.
“Guess what?” He smiled. “Since I saw you on a call being all worried, I postponed the announcement for half an hour.”m
“What?” I couldn’t help but utter in shock.
Shrugging, he replied, “Well, I can’t bear to see you like that.”
“But…” I stared at him, speechless.
“Did you really did that?” I asked in disbelief.
I couldn’t help but be skeptical since all this time, I thought he didn’t want Kylian to arrive on time. So… what was he doing?
Jackson let go of me and smiled.
He grabbed his wine glass again and twirl it before looking me in the eyes. “Would you like to make a bet with me?”
“W-what bet?” For some reason, I have a feeling that I wouldn’t like what he’d say.
Something glinted in his eyes, and he continued, “I bet your Kylian won’t make it in time, and you…”
He pointed at me using his glass. “You will never love him again.”
