Chapter 180

Della’s POV

Luke wore that disgusting facade of grief. He shook his head and painfully said, “Kylian passed away, and it truly broke my heart.”

He even furrowed his eyebrows and held his chest as if such a scene would really break his heart. It’s disconcerting how he managed to say those words with a straight face when it’s vivid that it's all pretense.

Pointing at the coffin behind him, he continued, “As Kylian’s father and the new alpha, I ought to organize a funeral for my dearest son.”

I scoffed upon hearing that.

Shaking with fury, I asked, “Dead? Who’s dead, Luke? And new alpha?” I scoffed, “You really don’t waste time, do you?”

I backed away and held onto Kylian’s moving chest. Trembling, I pointed out, “He is still weak, but Kylian’s still alive! He’s breathing!”

“How dare you come here with that?” I shouted, disgustedly pointing at the coffin he so productively prepared.

“I am the new Alpha, it’s only right that–”

“According to the pack law, pack affairs shall be decided by the joint discussion of the Luna and the Beta of the pack in case the Alpha goes into a coma,” I interrupted him. And with clenched jaw and murderous eyes, I added, “And even if he dies, we still decide on the funeral of an alpha!”

“You don’t have a say here, Luke. Nor do you have the right to unilaterally announce yourself as the new alpha, especially when Kylian is still breathing!” I said again, pointing at Kylian.

Looking closely, anyone would see how his chest was still rising and falling as he breathed weakly and slowly.

“So, leave!” I shouted.

Luke’s jaw fell in shock. “You’re asking me to leave? Are you hearing yourself?”

“I said, leave! Don’t make me repeat it again!” I commanded with a dominating voice before I shifted my gaze and gave Henry a signaling look.

Immediately understanding what I meant, Henry stepped forward, pointed his hand to the door, and firmly spoke, “Sir Luke, I’ll have to ask you to leave. As you can see, Alpha Kylian is still not dead, and I’m still his Beta.”

Luke sneered at that. “Pretentious fools!” He cursed and took a nonchalant glance at Kylian before adding, “Whether he wakes up or not today, Kylian will surely die today! It's not much of a loss anyway. I don’t need a disobedient son like him!”

To say I was shocked by his straightforwardness would be an understatement.

My heart clenched in realization. What kind of a father he was? Time only repeatedly proved to me how much work Luke could get in every passing day.

He came here not only thinking Kylian was dead. Instead, he wanted him dead. What kind of a parent would wish for their own child’s death?

After tolerating him for so long, longing for his love, and blindingly respecting him, I couldn’t handle how he treated Kylian like an animal. No, I think it is even worse because even animals have affection for their offspring.

I reminded him with a quivering chin and trembling voice, “Kylian is your son! You’re flesh and blood! How can you speak like that and treat him so badly!”

Luke smirked and shook his head. “I don’t need a disobedient son! The moment that traitor started investigating me and planning for my death, he was no longer my son!”

“I don’t know what kind of spell you use to defeat that many of Crimson Pack’s soldiers, but I sure as hell you won’t be able to win against my soldiers!” he arrogantly declared, motioning toward his bulky, well-trained-looking soldiers.

Shockingly, I moved my eyes around to look at each of them and the man before me. I could no longer recognize Luke. He suddenly just became more of a monster than I last talked to him.

With an upright posture, he proudly announced, “I have brought forty powerful death squad fighters… Now, the entire pack hospital is under my control!”

Then, he took a step to the side and pointed behind him to reveal that there wasn’t only one, but three coffins prepared in there.

My eyes widened, and I already had an assumption of what it meant.

To prove my thinking, he voiced out, “Look how generous I am. I’ve made them prepare three astonishing coffins. The other two would be for our beloved Luna and Beta… I’m sure all will thank me for that.”

“Thank you? Murdering their Luna, Beta, and Alpha… Do you really think anyone will ever thank you for that evil deeds of yours?” I asked, mortified.

Luke smiled widely and shook his head. “Oh, no. No one will know the truth today. Everyone will think that Kylian died, and you… you killed the Beta in anger. And as if reenacting the love of Romeo and Juliet, you killed yourself after to be with the one you love.”

“You are really mortifying… You’ve gone insane!” I concluded as I backed away while Henry protectively stepped forward before me to shield me.

We both sensed the danger falling before us.

“Luna, we need to leave,” Henry whispered as he backed away and moved closer to me.

That’s what I thought, too, but I looked at Kylian and knew that I couldn’t do that. I couldn’t just run away.

But then again, I think escaping was already out of the question because not even a second later, Luke’s soldier was already surrounding us. Taking a glimpse at the door, I wanted to let out a sarcastic laugh as I found the three coffins being left open.

I shifted my gaze, ready to throw a murderous glare at Luke. But as soon as I looked back at him, my breathing hitched when I saw the sharp silver sword pointing at me.

He looked at me with that devilish glint in his eyes and that annoying smirk as he coldly said, “Don’t worry, Della. You’ll meet Kylian soon.”

With that, he raised the sword, ready to swing it at my head.
