Chapter 178

Della’s POV

My hands subconsciously reached out underneath my shirt to pull something. The black string resting around my neck revealed the captivating and cold pendant hanging on it.

I looked down, staring at it. It was the necklace he had given me after he had looked into my prophecy. He told me to always wear it, and so I did.

It’s a metal shaped into a crescent moon with either end attached to the string. On its curve were three green wreaths with small jade in the middle. I never learned what it symbolized, but by the moon in it, I assumed it had something to do with us being werewolves.

“... You and Alpha Kylian had already formed a close connection with each other, and so have your wolves. Closer than anyone would expect you to have…”

That was what Lucas said to me before. Later, I realized that he was referring to my pup. Just as he predicted, it did happen.

But…

“You will meet your fated mate in a month at the earliest or at least three months. If you can stay with your fated mate with a whole heart, then you will have a marriage that everyone will envy.”

He also said that. Since then, I’ve been waiting and seeing who it might be. But that changed today. Any thoughts I had about my fated mate went out the window the minute I was reassured about Kylian’s love for me.

I knew it was only a matter of time before the rest of his prediction and my fated mate appeared in my life.

The glass of milk I let go of earlier was pushed closer to my side, and a gentle voice echoed, “Here, have this and finish it.”

I looked up at Lucas, who stood up.

Gently smiling, he added, “Think about it properly, okay? And congrats to your pup…”

“Careful too…” He momentarily stopped, pointed at me with a teasing glint in his eyes, and left.

Once he was gone, I held on to the glass of full glass milk and wondered, “Fated mate, huh?”

“What would we do if what he said happened and our fated mate suddenly showed up?” Trisha asked in the back of my mind, mirroring my anxiousness.

Frustrated, I raised the glass and drank it in one gulp. After annoyingly setting it on the table, I answered her, “I actually feel that damn connection already. Weak… but it’s there.”

Trisha radiated a glimpse of gloominess. “He isn’t here yet, but I can’t help but look forward to seeing him already. What if…”

When I started feeling that she was starting to get all giddy, I had to interrupt. As painful as it might be to her, I firmly said, “We can’t be ungrateful, Trish. Look at where Kylian is now. He almost died to save us.”

Every second I remember his blood in my hands and see his condition right now, I couldn’t help but feel sad.

Looking outside, I looked up to the sky and solemnly prayed to the moon's goodness, “Moon Goddess, I hope you’re hearing me. Please… Please grant me this wish. Bless and help the father of my pup. Wake him up, please? You’re my only hope now.”

Probably feeling the sorrow in me, Trisha stopped pushing the matter about my mate. Instead, she said, “Hey, Della, everything will be fine. I know it. I can feel it. But so is your anxiety and grief. It’s too early for that. Take a step back first and stay strong.”

I frown. “One could only hope.”

With a sigh, I stood up from my seat and went straight to the VIP ward. But when I arrived there, I found an empty room and a guard.

Furrowing my eyebrows, I asked, “Where’s Kylian?”

He bowed his head in respect and replied, “He was sent back to the ICU.”

“But, the doctor said it’s only to be sure and keep him more stable. He didn’t go to shock or anything of the sort,” the guard immediately added when he saw the panic starting to fill me.

Hearing that, instant relief came to me. “That’s good,” I whispered.

After hastily thanking him, I turned and left the room to go to the ICU, where I saw Henry standing in front of the window glass with worry.

Following his gaze, I found a number of people being treated in the ICU and were about to be transferred into the ward.

“You’ll be admitted to the room of your choice. Your family has also been called and is on their way here. Don’t worry; everything will be fine.” Henry said the same thing to each of them, ensuring they heard it.

They were the personnel in the inspection room, and I rescued them.

Seeing them all in good health gave me a sense of relief. With all the bad news today, there’s something good for us to look forward to.

“Luna… Thank you.”

“Thank you, Luna Della.”

“Yes, Luna, we owe it all to you.”

Each of them expressed varied types of gratitude towards me as their hospital bed was being pushed through me.

I was happy they were alive and well, but I couldn’t express it to them. Not right now when I’m dying of worry and pain in every second of glimpse toward Kylian, who’s still in that hospital bed inside the ICU.

In the end, I could only give them a simple nod.

Once they were all gone, Henry cautiously approached me. With guilt in his eyes and vivid embarrassment in his action by how he lowered his head and fidgeted a little, he said, “I’m sorry.”

I continued staring at him, and he went on, “It’s all Gianna’s fault that she stopped you from meeting Alpha Kylian today. I just want you to know that she faced a serious consequence because of that as soon as Alpha learned what she did.”

Kylian wasn’t the one who ordered her to do that? I guess I misunderstood him again.

I didn’t know when it started, but I know that it’s been a long time since I just came in, assuming the worst about him. In that way, my heart became less disappointed in him because there was nothing more to expect.

And that… that’s what created more misunderstanding and gap between un.

“I am so sorry, too.” He looked up at me with seriousness and solemnly made himself clear. “I’m so sorry for giving you an attitude.”

I stared at him with a blank stare. After a long time of thinking, I let out a sigh and asked, completely disregarding his long statement.

“How’s Kylian?”

Henry stared at me for a while and blinked for a couple of seconds as if only realizing that I wasn’t in the right state of mind right now.

Swallowing, he cleared his throat and replied, “Everyone is very concerned about Alpha and praying for him to get better. I highly believe that he’ll get better soon with so many people praying for him.”

“Luna, Alpha Kylian cares about you a lot, and I’m sure he’d like to see you doing well once he wakes up. You need to take care of your health first,” he reminded me.

I shook my head and whispered, “With him like that… I don’t know how I’ll function normally.”

Henry looked around, seemingly checking if there were anyone around us. Once clear, he took a step closer to me and lowered his voice. “If things go south… And…”

He cleared his throat, struggling to say the right word because it pained him so much.

Nonetheless, he continued, “If Alpha Kylian unfortunately does not make it, please Luna Della. I beg you not to let Sir Luke take power. If that happens, the Dark Moon Pack that Alpha Kylian fought so hard for will fall in great chaos.”

He lowered his eyes until they fell to my belly. “Alpha Kylian needs an heir to prevent that from happening. So… no matter whose pup you are carrying, I’ll support you with all I have and tell everyone that it was his.”

In the past, I would have gone angry and snarled at him. But now, I feel so overwhelmed by Kylian’s situation that I just keep my face straight, completely feeling numb.

I shifted my gaze from Kylian and looked at him. “Kylian will be fine. There’s no if to that.”

After saying that, I walked to the entrance to put on a cover gown and enter the ICU room.
