Chapter 175

“No!”
My heart shrank until it crumpled into a small piece, shuttering into a million pieces.
I’ve seen him a thousand times with his eyes closed, admiring his godly features as I slept beside him on our bed before. But never in my wildest dreams would those tingling sensations I felt then turn into a feeling worse than anything I’d felt before as I saw his eyelids close.
I shouted so loud as I held him tightly in my arms, shaking him so hard in hopes that he would open his eyes again and look at me with those mesmerizing brown iris with gentle and loving gaze.
But he remained motionless.
“Luna…” Someone touched my shoulder and tried to take him away from me, but I brushed them off.
My rationality was thrown out of the window as soon as the fear of losing him consumed my every being.
Then, someone kneeled in front of me and held the hand that was on Kylian’s chest.
It’s the medical staff.
He looked deep into my eyes as if reaching for my sanity. “Luna Della, you need to let him go so we can treat me. We need space to assess and help him. Please…”
“O-of course…” I sniffed and tried to wipe the tears on my cheeks, but it was all in vain. Because new sets of tears just streamed down again.
“Luna, I’ll help you up.” Another medical staff member held my arm and supported me as I stood, while the one who persuaded me to let Kylian go put him to his side as the others prepared the spine board to put him in.
“1,2,3, up.” Two personnel coordinated to carry the board he was in.
“I’ll go,” I said, accumulating every strength I had left in me as I rushed to his side and went into the ambulance with him.
“You can’t leave me, you hear me?” I whispered in pain while holding his hand tightly.
I didn’t know if he could hear. He had long lost consciousness, but I could only hope his wolf would help me convey my words to him.
Right now, all I could wish was for my bond with Kylian to be as strong as it was despite what happened.
He should be okay. He’ll be okay…
I paced back and forth in the hospital corridor as I glimpsed through the small window separating the corridor from the emergency room to see Kylian being rescued.
My heart bleed, and my world stopped as I saw many doctors surround him. Batches of gauze were full of blood, and some even dripped on the ground.
“Luna, how is he?”
I shook my head. “I… I don’t know…”
Many of the pack members, from elders to omegas, came to see how he was doing. They were all worried and clamped their hands together, praying to the moon goddess that she wouldn’t take him with her so soon.
“What you don't know? You're with him!” One of the elders demanded.
I glared at him, shouting, “I said, I don't know!”
They were perplexed, hearing the grieve and dominance in my voice.
“L-luna… You're phone…” Someone reminded me as my phone's nonstop ringing echoed through the hallway.
I remained deaf, though.
There was only one person who would likely call me. It’s Albert.
It would be nothing but about Wakeland– about work. But with Kylian lying on that hospital bed, bleeding and on the brink of death, how could I be in the mood to work?
How could I function when I couldn't even imagine myself living if I lost him now?
“It's nothing,” I replied after a deep breath.
Pulling it from my pocket, I saw that it was indeed Albert. Without a blink of an eye, I rejected the call and hid it.
Taking a deep breath, I silently prayed, “I'm sorry, Moon Goddess, but let me be willful this time. I'd surely take over Wakeland, but I have to be selfish for now.”
I stared through the window, and my heart clenched to see doctors injecting him with something while the others were cleaning his blood.
“My mate is dying… So please don't blame me. I hope you understand,” I added with my heart filling with sorrow.
As the Lycan princess and the heir of the kingdom, I knew that I had responsibilities to shoulder. But with my mate in such a condition, what could anyone expect from me?
My hand trembled as I took a step back.
Closing my eyes, I took a deep breath to condition myself.
I could be selfish, but I shouldn't endanger the safety of others as well.
With that in mind and rationality slowly coming back at me, I grabbed my phone again.
Instead of calling Albert, though, I called Troy.
“Princess, hello,” Troy greeted as soon as he answered the call.
“Can you handle the issues in Wakeland first? Be the one in contact with Albert for now,” I said.
I tried to keep my voice calm, but my voice still wavered, and it didn't go unnoticed by the head of security like Troy.
“Is everything alright, Princess? What happened?” Panic and worry were evident in his voice.
I shook my head even though he couldn't hear me.
“I’m fine, but Kylian is not. He is in the hospital right now. He got stabbed saving me.” My voice choked.
A sigh of relief echoed at the other end.
“I heard about that from the prince. He had asked some of my men to escort the kingdom's best doctors there. But I didn't think you were involved. Prince Jackson also sent one of the kingdom's doctors.”
My eyes widened. And as if on cue, a group of experts from the kingdom came in, going straight to the emergency room.
They sent me a discreet greeting, which made me thankful that they didn't reveal my identity.
“He did… I… please do let him know how thankful I am.”
I never thought that Jackson would lend our family doctor to Kylian. After all, I knew how much he hated him because of me. But the doctors were already here after I messaged him earlier with trembling hands.
“Well, he hates him, but he loves you. He's still our mate, so that's why he probably sent help.” Trisha's words really make sense.
“Or maybe he changed his mind about Kylian already?” I suggested.
Trisha scoffed. “Dream about it.” After that, she vanished as Troy's words followed.
“I'll do that, Princess. But are you sure you won't contact Sir Albert? I believe he needs you as well,” he solemnly said, as if he had more to say.
Confused, I furrowed my eyebrows. “That's why I called you. So you can coordinate with him like I do. I trust your capabilities, Troy.”
“Still…”
“Stop hovering, Troy. Tell me,” I said, getting anxious and annoyed.
I didn't have the time to waste right now.
“Nothing, Princess. I just hope you call Sir Albert once things settle down there.”
He sounded worried. Weird.
“I'll do that. Thanks, Troy.”
After hanging up the phone, I hit my inside cheek and anxiously waited outside the door for the doctor to come out.
Seconds… Minutes… And hours passed. I didn't know how long it was, but I remained waiting, rarely sitting down.
Most of the elders had already gone to rest, while others had gone back.
“Della…” Trisha gently called out.
“What is it?” I asked, halting from pacing.
“Remember, you're pregnant. Take care of your health first,” she firmly said, making me subconsciously hold my belly.
My chin quivered while I tried to stop myself from crying.
The pain was cursing at every inch of my body, as I'd been stabbed more than once.
“How can I do that, Trisha? Tell me,” I asked, venting all the pain I was feeling.
“Della, I…”
“It hurts so much! I felt like I was dying with him. W-when I saw him collapse in my arms… W-when his blood dipped onto my hands? I went blank.”
With tears streaming from my eyes, I continued, “I didn't believe him, Trisha… He told me he'll give his life for me. But I never believed him. I even doubted him!”
“You couldn't have known, Della.” She tried to calm me down.
I shook my head. “No! I misunderstood him, and now he's fighting for his life, unaware that we have a puppy! He couldn't just die on me, Trisha! He couldn't…”
“You're right. We misunderstood him. But that's only because he hurt us so much before. He hurt you,” she gently explained to me.
I stared at Kylian through the window, feeling helpless.
The doctors were finished treating him and now waiting for him to wake up.
“There's no point in saying anything now. What matters is for him to be saved,” I replied as the door opened and doctors came out.
“Prin–” I shook my head when one of them was about to slip out.
He hid his mistake by pretending to cough and cleared his throat. “Luna Della, we already treated Alpha Kylian's wound, but it will take time for him to wake up. The silver is still cursing through his blood, preventing his wolf from accelerating the healing process.”
“B-but he'll be fine… Right?” Hope was overflowing in me as I stared at him with anticipation.
“He's stable right now. But the situation is...not optimistic. I have to say. If we hadn't arrived in time, Alpha might have died on the spot. Now all we can do is to pray for the moon goddess and the wizard.”
“Oh, thank you…” I said as tears welled up in my eyes.
The doctors nodded. “Then, call us if you need anything.”
After they left, I finally broke down and fell to the chair as they prepared to transfer him to the ward.
Oh my goddess. What should I do? My Kylian was in danger, but there was nothing I could do to help him. What if. . . What if he really died?
I buried my face in my hands and cried out loud until I heard a weak voice.
“T-thank you…”
I looked up, hearing a hesitant but thankful voice.
It's Henry. He was staring at me deeply with depth in his eyes.
He looked so stressed. Fear, worry, and hope were evident in his eyes.
“What did you say?” I asked, thinking I heard him wrong.
Lowering his head in respect – something he hadn't done for me in a long time- he spoke awkwardly, “Thank you, Luna Della. Thank you so much for using your relationship with Prince Jackson to ensure that the best doctors in the kingdom will treat him.”
I was surprised. I had never heard him so thankful before. His words and actions right now were surprisingly free of any hints of arrogance or maliciousness.
I nodded and gave him a small smile.
What a thing about Henry. He never wears a mask.
As arrogant and hateful as he was, he didn't pretend and would openly express his emotions and impression to anyone.
Just as I saw his anger toward me before, I could clearly see the gratitude and sincerity in his eyes now.
But deep in my heart, I was still praying for more miracles.
As the doctors said, Kylian is stable now, but they don't know when he'll wake up.
With the silver flowing in his blood, we'll also need the help of a top wizard.
“I hope Lucas comes as soon as possible,” I thought.
Earlier, I instructed Diana to find and bring Lucas here.
Just as I clasped my hands together in desperation, rapid footsteps from the corridor echoed.
I stood up to see who it was, but I was greeted with the deafening sound of a slap as a heavy hand collided with my cheeks.
“You bitch!”
