Chapter 170

The guard anxiously stared at me for a long while, looking so anxious and seemingly contemplating what he should say next.
“What is it?” I asked again, but I couldn’t handle the suspense brought by his stalling.
“Luna!” he suddenly shouted and grabbed my arm.
He spoke next, almost begging me to do something. “Luna, I'm a warrior who guards the border. Today a batch of drugs sent by the Crimson Pack was found to be containing illegal drugs! A-and… based on the lab results, the dosage is very high!”
At first, I was shocked, but then I went on and got confused. “What do you mean? If they found it, why are you in such a condition? Go and report to Kylian and destroy those drugs!”
Those illegal drugs are highly addictive. No matter how determined a wolf is, if he encounters those things, he will yield to them. That's why we don't allow them on Dark Moon pack land!
As Kylian said before, those goods will be tested by the laboratory before entering the territory. The drugs will be destroyed as soon as they are found.
Why is the warrior so nervous?
“I… It’s…”
Suddenly, a disturbing feeling surged within me. A border guard who was trained to withstand any calamities and any war was right in front of me, looking anxious and hopeless.
Taking a deep breath the guard stood up properly, let go of me, and took a deep breath. “They kidnapped those people in the laboratory… but they are very important personnel of the pack, and we can’t risk their lives. So we couldn’t attack.”
“What?”
My heartbeat beat faster. This was what I was fearing before. They started to make a move and use their vulgar ways.
“What do they want?” I said, couldn’t help but voice out a question I knew the answer to.
“They want us to allow this batch of drugs to enter the pack, but…”
“That’s out of the option,” I started. “Once someone took one of those drugs, they would instantly become addicted, and it would cause great calamity in the pack. They would go rogue. Adults would behave like criminals, and children would be deprived of having their wolves!”
“Have you told this to Alpha Kylian?” I asked.
Now that he was a bit calmer, he should be able to answer me properly.
The guard let out a sigh of frustration and reported, “I tried to, but someone stopped me from entering the pack house as soon as I arrived there. They said that I’m not allowed to report to the Alpha.”
“How about the security director? Does he know what’s happening?”
The guard, once again, shook his head. “No, I don’t think so. He was called by Sir Luke and after that, we can’t find him anymore. I don’t know what to do anymore so I went to you as soon as I saw you coming.”
He held my hand again and begged, “Please… Let me meet the Alpha.”
Understanding the seriousness of the situation, my heart became heavy. How dare those gatekeepers of the pack house stop the guards from coming in?
Looking at my side, I told Diana, “You can go ahead.”
She looked at me for a while, hesitating before she continued to leave.
After she left, I started walking and said, “Come with me.”
The guard was immediately delighted and followed toward Kylian’s office.
“Stop!” An arm suddenly outstretched in front of us as soon as we arrived at the front door, stopping us from getting in.
My eyes instantly narrowed upon recognizing who it was. It was Gianna. She was standing with masked arrogance over that pitiful façade she wanted to act on. Too bad, I’m not someone who’d buy her acting.
She lowered her eyes and frowned her lips, saying, “I’m sorry, Luna Della, but Alpha Kylian is resting, and he strictly notified that he shouldn’t be disturbed by anyone.”
Who was she kidding? Even if she cries a river of tears, she won’t fool me with her act. Just by merely looking into her eyes, I could already vividly see the hidden pride she was feeling. She acted as if she had taken my place at this time as the rightful wife of Alpha Kylian, Luna of the Dark Moon pack.
“Let me in!” I said with gritted teeth.
I don’t care what game she was playing, but that’s far from important now.
Right now, it’s a critical moment that would determine the safety of the pack members of Dark Moon Pack.
“But Alpha said…”
Before she could finish her words, I interrupted her, “I don’t care what he said, but listen well to me.”
I leaned in and looked her dead in the eyes, making her involuntarily take a step back. “I need to speak with him, and if something bad happens because you stop me… Are you sure you can be responsible for it?”
Gianna raised her head, not backing down which angered me further. “I was given the order to not let anyone in and…”
Both the guard and Gianna were dumbfounded by my next action as the loud sound of slap echoed through the hallway.
Radiating with anger, I added after I slapped her, “You fool! If someone dies there! Can you handle it?”
My hand left a red mark on her left cheek.
Sudden momentary silence filled the air before Gianna recovered from the shock. She looked back at me with murderous eyes.
I smirked. Finally, gone was her mask.
“How dare you!” she shouted.
Standing tall, she glared at me and dared to scold me, “I’m going to be the next Luna! With this face and with my docile personality, there’s no way I couldn’t bear any kind of responsibilities!”
Mockingly, I said, “Now, you’re showing your true colors, huh?”
I silently wanted to laugh. She’s really ridiculous! She was so shameless to think she could use her face to deceive Kylian only because it resembled mine.
And she even dared to talk to me with such arrogance when I was still Luna!
Void of any emotions, I replied coldly, “Gianna…”
I leaned closer to her and whispered in her ear, “You will never get what you want. I know Kylian… he won’t fall for you just merely because you copied my face!”
She stumbled back, hitting the door behind her in the process and I couldn’t help but smirk.
Good, she’s still afraid… As she should be.
“What are you doing? Don’t bully her!”
Unexpectedly, one of the guards approached me and dared to scold me.
My eyes widened. I was totally stunned. How dare a guard do that to me as well?
“Who are you?” I asked.
“I'm Dorian, Alpha's personal guard.”
Personal guard. Then...protecting Gianna is Kylian’s order? If not… How could he have the guts to do that?
‘What a stupid alpha!’ I was radiating with fury! With how stupid and spineless Kylian was, why did I even come to him to think that he could help in saving the Dark Moon Pack.
Once again, he disappointed me.
Sighing in anger and defeat, I looked back at the guard who came back with me and ordered, “Go and find the deputy security chief.”
He nodded and shifted from me and Gianna before he looked at me with determination. “I understand.”
With that, he ran out.
With one last glare at Gianna and Dorian, I ran out, rushing toward the border.
I must subdue the Crimson Pack and prevent them from killing anyone. Worse, I need to do everything I can to prevent them from entering the pack and distributing those illegal drugs.
While I was running, Trisha spoke, “Careful! Don’t be so impulsive, Della. Remember, you’re not alone anymore.”
Trisha was radiating with so much worry.
Hearing about my pup, I halted for a second and held my belly. “But I need to save them…”
“But still… Even if you are the Lycan Princess, you don’t fight so casually and impulsively,” she scolded.
“Don’t worry, I’ll be careful. But at the same time, I can’t ignore things like this,” I replied and started running again.
The Crimson Pack was known to be a notorious pack. They were cruel and merciless toward their victims.
Of course, because of those gruesome reports I got about them, I was afraid to have a conflict with them as well. But I have no other choice but to face them.
As the Luna of this pack and the Princess of the Kingdom, I had the obligation I must fulfill. No matter what the reason was, I couldn’t just stand idle by.
