I walked out of Omega's apartment in despair, thinking that I had missed the best opportunity to get back together with my lover Della.
I sighed, sped up my steps as I knew Henry was still waiting for me in the office. I couldn’t help but wonder what clues has he found on Gianna. I have rarely seen him so agitated.
With that, I subconsciously increased my phase as I went straight to the pack house and into my office.
“Alpha,” he immediately stood up from the sofa and greeted me as soon as I opened the door.
He had a folder in his hand and a vivid annoyance could be seen in his face. His eyebrows were furrowed, there’s a creased line in his forehead, and a frown was in his lips.
Even more curious and confused, I asked, “What did you find? Why do you look so annoyed?”
I went straight to my desk and sat on the swivel chair while Henry went in front of me and handed me the files in his hand.
He shook his head with great dismay and sat on the chair across me. “It’s really great that you didn’t have sex with that woman or you’ll greatly regret it!”
Henry scoffed, almost looking disgusted.
I raised an eyebrow at him and leaned back on my chair, looking at him intently.
Seeing as I didn’t reply, he looked up and saw me staring at him. “Why are not you talking? You won't...” he asked in horror.
I shook my head and confusedly asked, “What happened on earth? Aren’t you always pushing me to be with her? What changed?”
“Don’t even remind me.”
Laughing a bit, I pushed even further, “What’s with the complete change of attitude now?”
As he didn’t reply, I just decided to tease him a little less more and simply open the file he gave me.
Opening it, I was also bewildered.
On the upper right corner of the file was a picture of an ugly woman… Looking at it closer, she indeed had a bit of resemblance with Della but she’s a much uglier version of her.
I frowned, slowly understanding Henry’s reaction.
Despite my assumptions, I still asked in utter disbelief, “Is this…”
“Who else? That’s Gianna. I couldn’t believe it too…” Henry replied, messing his hair in annoyance.
He was fooled which explained how annoyed he was right now.
“Are you sure about this?” I asked, looking carefully at the files.
Nodding, he confirmed, “Yes, I’ve checked it multiple times already before reporting to you. She totally got us fooled. She pretends to be a pitiful beauty and deceives our sympathy!”
“Well, only you… I never liked her before…” I silently thought.
I have never sympathized with Gianna, because Flora has also used these little tricks before to gain my sympathy and use it to obtain benefits that are not her own. I won't be easily fooled by such low-level tactics anymore.
My eyes narrowed as I looked at the picture more carefully. Despite the slight resemblance, no one would ever think that the one in the picture was the same Gianna whom we are interacting with now.
Unlike her ordinary face, the real her was far inferior to her current face that's very much alike to Della's enchanting beauty.
With furrowed eyebrows, I dropped the file in disbelief and asked, “How did this happen?”
“Upon my investigation, I learned that she used to be a cleaner at a brothel. Being an omega, she was looked down on and insulted due to her face. Even her fated mate rejected her,” he started.
Shrugging his shoulder nonchalantly, he added, “I mean… who wouldn't?”
“You speak as if you haven't taken her side before.” I shook my head.
He changes so fast.
Disgusted, he held his head as if he was having a headache just by the thought of it. “Don't remind me.”
“What's more, she even had the audacity to beg the person in charge of the brothel to make her a prostitute. But with her face, it's no surprise why she was rejected,” he paused before continuing, “It's even reported that she's been stealing some of the prostitute's cosmetics.”
“So how did she exactly became part of all this schemes?” I asked. Too much for backstory.
“I bribed some servants around Sir Luke and found that he invited her in his private room. After than, he brought her with her and had some dark wizard’s potion change her appearance to seduce you…” he explained.
My hands tightened into a fist as his words.
It turned out that it was all well-planned. My father even dared to get involve with dark wizard just so he could get what he wanted.
It’s his oversight though to think that all that mattered was her face.
Even if he bring someone more beautiful than Della in society’s eyes, Della’d remain incomparable in my heart.
Thinking about all that and how Gianna dared to invade my privacy in pursue of seducing me, I trembled with anger that my knuckles had turned white.
“You’ve gone pale, Alpha. Are you okay?” Henry asked.
It’s un involuntary reaction of my body as my wolf and I both thought of the moment Gianna first came to us. Her face that once looked like Della’s was replaced by her real displeasing face which made us both discomfort.
Much worse, my wolf was the one who was even more affected, feeling disgusted. He, after all, had been pushing and wanting to have sex with Gianna since that day.
Now, like Henry, he was in an instant regret.
“How shallow does you all think of me to be? I won’t have sex with anyone just because of their looks. Although Della is of humble status, she’s still as proud and as dazzling as a princess which gave her more charm,” I started.
After a while, I looked seriously at Henry and continued, “Gianna can gather all the dark wizard to make her change her face, but she’d never be as good hearted as Della is.”
Nodding, Henry asked, “What are your plans now?”
I sighed and pushed the folder to the side.
Troubled, I voiched out my concern, “Colluding with dark wizards are serious offence…”
No matter what, he was still my father. And as much as I didn’t like it, there’s a troubling pain that was slightly lurking in my heart. But despite that, he was wrong and must face the consequences of the choices he made.
“Don’t distrub Luke for now. We still don’t have any concrete evidence. First, gather as much as you can and keep an eye on the border. Make sure that everything are in order especially that the new batch of drugs will arrive soon,” I instructed.
“Don’t worry, I’d send more warriors and supervise the delivery personally.”
After I nodded, I mindlinked one of the border guards, “Come to my office and report personally if you find anything strange or encounter any situation.”
“Understood, Alpha.” The border guards each replied to confirm.
Usually, they won’t directly report to me. Instead, they would of need to report ot the security director first who would then decide whether it’s needed to be reported to Henry who’d filter the reports base on severity before reporting to me.
But considering the risk brought by the Crimson Pack, I had to be more cautious and know even the most subtle looking situations.
“Then if there’s nothing else, I’d be going first.”
Henry stood up, then left after I permitted him with a simple nod and a wave of hand.
Once the door closed, I leaned on my chair’s backrest and let out a deep sigh.
“It really happened as you said it… I should of listen…” I whispered, thinking of everything that Della said before which I turned a deaf ear on.
Indeed, my father had change from the man I could tolerate to the man I had to convict.
Pain and sadness rushed in my heart. He wasn’t a perfect father, but I always looked up at him for being a great Alpha. In the end… even that last bits of string where I hold respect for him had been cut off.
I let out a scoffed, bitterly smiling.
Where did I fell into now?
My mother loves my sister more than me while my father only cares about his own interest and pleasure. My fated mate only desires the position of a Luna, and the only person who loves me, was about to vanish from my life.

How much I wanted to be with her again and just live a peaceful and happy marriage with her… But that too was so hard to get.
I raised my hand and clenched my chest as a sharp pain pierced my heart at those thoughts.
