Chapter 154

Della’s POV

After contemplating for quite a long time, I sighed.

“Follow me,” I uttered, walking past her to open the door. No harm in listening to her. After all, if her words’ not really important and necessary, I could just forget about it. And if she indeed had something useful, then it’s more reason why I should listen to her.

As a lycan, and with Diana with me, I’m confident that she won’t be able to do anything in me even if she wanted to.

“Ms. Della, you’re back. Do you want–” Diana’s words stopped when she saw Nancy following me inside.

She looked show, and her eyes shifted back and forth between me and Nancy for a couple of times. She was speechless and probably very confused as to why I let her in.

Diana looked at me questioningly. I gave her an assuring smile and nodded for her to continue with her work. “You can go on. I’ll just have a talk with her.”

“Okay, call me if you need anything,” she said before hesitantly turning around to continue cleaning on the kitchen.

I sat down and motioned to the other seat. “Have a seat. What do you want to tell me?”

Not wanting to waste time and beat around the bush with her, I asked directly.

No matter how long time had passed and how much she tried to show that she changed, I don’t think I’d ever come to trust her again.

Nancy bit her lower lip and looked around as if a bit hesitant to say what she came here for.

I stared at her, waiting patiently.

After a while, I closed my eyes in suppressed annoyance. “Tell me.”

“Okay… hmm… have you been losing clothes lately?” she asked, looking deeply into my eyes.

My eyebrows furrowed at that. I didn’t say anything and motioned for her to continue.

“Were they the clothes that were given to you by Alpha Kylian? Oh… and sometimes it will be even your underwear?”

I was completely stunned by her words. Yes, that’s what’s been happening lately, but Diana and I just let it go and didn’t report it to anyone.

Most of my clothes, expensive and not, all of which were given by Kylian, had started to disappear one after another after every load of laundry.

At first, we suspected that it was for money, but the recently missing clothes weren’t even valuable enough to be stolen, and still, they were missing.

Arrived and annoyed by the situation, I had Diana buy a camera from the black market and install it to monitor my clothes whenever she handed them in after laundry. The stealing continued, but we never caught the thief because he or she was always in disguise, covering in a hooded jacket.

I would have taken care of it, but I’ve been so busy lately with dealing with the Crimson Pack and Luke that I haven’t had time to take more necessary action.

“She wouldn’t come just to gossip about it, right?”  I thought.

Hence, I asked her, “So, do you know who’s the culprit behind it?”

As expected, Nancy nodded her head. Taking a deep breath, she confessed, “You know her too. It’s my previous supervisor, Abigail.”

“I saw her bringing your clothes back to her room with my own eyes. She wrapped it in a cloth, but one time, it fell, and some clothes scattered, which is why I was able to see it. I don’t know what she did to it, but I know for sure that she isn’t selling it out,” she continued to explain.

Abigail?

Of all the people, I never once thought that it could be her. Well, for one, we didn’t have the same physique.

“Do you have any evidence?” I asked and observed how her expression changed.

At first, she was very confident about her news to me, but after I asked, she went in deep thought.

I didn’t know if she could be trusted. After all, she had been so cunning and envious that she resorted to things that she shouldn’t be doing. She’s not exactly someone who’s credible enough for words alone to be listened to.

But whether she’s telling the truth or not, it would all be in vain without any proof.

Nancy looked down in embarrassment and shook her head. Then, she suddenly looked up with conviction and said, “I don’t have evidence, but I can tell what time Abigail did it. I remembered it clearly.”

I watched as Nancy rampaged through her back, pulling one paper from another. “This!” She happily pulled out a paper that was a bit cramped and laid it flat on the table.

Looking closely, it’s a work schedule in toilet cleaning.

“What’s that for?”

“It’s the work schedule of toilet cleaners. After Abigail left her job in the kitchen, she became a toilet cleaner. This form records the work schedule of all cleaners. After I saw her take your underwear that time, I stalked her several times during her day off. I learned that she will sneak into your place to steal clothes.”

She pointed to the dates where Abigail’s name was in there.

I was stunned by the revelation and grabbed the paper from her.

The paper was complete with details of time and dates together with the names of omegas assigned on each shift. Indeed, all the time when my clothes were stolen, it was Abigail’s day off.

But… why did she do it? What did Abigail want? What’s her purpose, and what could she gain by stealing my clothes?

I couldn’t help but be more confused while I stared at the schedule and keenly looked at its details.

“Ahmmm…” Seeing that I was deep in thought, Nancy stood cautiously and said, “I still have something I need to do, so… I’d leave first.”

With that, she bid her goodbye, turned around, and left.

Once she was gone, Diana went closer to me and asked, “Do I need to check Abigail’s off and not do the laundry then in the future so we can avoid your clothes from being stolen?

I shook my head and pointed the next day off of Abigail and instructed her, “On this day, I want you to do some laundry and hang the clothes Kylian gave to me.”

“When facing a criminal, hiding should be the last answer. I will definitely catch her and find what her purpose is,” I thought to myself.
