Chapter 153

Della’s POV

I looked down at the gigantic wolf in front of me. It’s standing on its four paws in a relaxed manner while looking up at me with a tilted head and ears held back. It’s fur shining softly. It showed that he was feeling at ease with me and even appeased.

His eyes stared at me, and I held my breath unconsciously.

The glint in its golden eyes told me that behind it was a desire one would feel for a mate. Especially when it wasn’t able to withstand its feelings and subconsciously licked its lip.

Unfortunately, that’s about to end, as I’m planning to continue the divorce.

“Let’s have dinner tomorrow night. I have something important to tell you. It’s about Luke,” Kylian mind-linked me.

I was beyond shocked to hear his words, and I even came to ask him if he really believed that.

Observing him with narrow eyes, I waited, and he replied to me through a series of nods.

Crossing my arms over my chest, I sighed. “Fine. If it’s for the sake of Dark Moon Pack, I’d listen to what you want to say.”

I maintained a cool and calm demeanor but I almost waiver by the reaction I saw in his wolf.

He couldn’t maintain his cool demeanor upon hearing my agreement and jumped. Its tail started wiggling as it went in zoomies. It started to make a series of happy yaps as it circled around me and would nozzle its head on my legs.

I closed my eyes to control my emotions and sighed helplessly. Letting my hands fall onto my side, I shook my head and motioned back at the pack house. “Scram now, will you?”

My tone was sarcastic, but it didn’t ruin his moon once bit.

With one last yap, it turned around and obediently bolted back to the pack house.

Once he was gone from my sight, relief filled me, and I started to walk back to my residence.

In the middle of my walk, Trisha suddenly spoke, “You know that it’s not necessary anymore to see Kylian and talk about Luke, right?”

When I didn’t reply, she continued, “The evidence which Troy gave you is more than enough to convict Luke for his crimes. All you need to do is wait until you’re divorced from Kylian and hand it all over.”

She’s right. Indeed, I didn’t need to meet Kylian anymore.

However, I still agreed to his invitation on the premise that I was doing it for the pack. But who am I kidding? Obviously, not my wolf, as she instantly saw through me.

Immediately, I felt guilty.

I, too, didn’t know why I didn’t refuse Kylian. But it seemed like at that moment, I didn’t think through enough, and my instant reaction was to agree.

“You still love him, don’t you?” Trisha suddenly asked, taking me in surprise.

I froze, and my heart skipped a bit.

‘Me? Still love him? No…’ I thought.

“I’m divorcing him, and that’s final,” I said in reply.

I hear her scoff. “I asked if you still love him. How is your answer relevant to my question?”

“I’m divorcing him. Doesn’t that answer it? I don’t love him anymore.”

“Yup. You sure still love him. You’re so in denial. You keep saying things out, but your actions say otherwise.”

Hearing that, I suddenly felt like a fool again, especially when flashes of memories about the woman who looked like me flashed in my mind.

Gianna… What a name.

I couldn’t believe that he actually kept her by his side. I could imagine him seeing another woman, but it didn’t occur to me that he’d do it this fast and that he’d go so far as to find someone who looked like me.

Anger ran through my blood, and I sneered. “It’s just a habit! I’ve loved him for so long, and I was so accustomed to unconditionally giving in to him. It’s all just a damn habit I’m still in the process of getting rid of!”

“That’s why I can’t refuse him, understand?” I angrily asked and continued walking.

I could imagine Trisha shaking her head off. “Okay, keep lying to yourself, but you can’t hide it from me. Remember, I’m your other half, and no one knows you better than I do.”

“You–”

“Don’t even try to deny it. You and I are intertwined. I can feel your heartbeats and emotions just as you could feel mine. You can’t deny to me that your heart didn’t skip a beat when you saw Kylian earlier.”

I was left speechless. How could I retort to that?

Trisha’s right and I was being naive to even think I could fool her. She’s the one thing who knew me inside out, all my needs, desires, pleasures, and pain. She’s me, and I’m her.

I sighed in defeat.

“So what if that’s true? It's bound to end no matter what. Everyone saw it! Even Stella knew about it and told me that Kylian’s not to be trusted.”

My hand raised and held my belly in a protective and caressing manner. “No matter what, I need to get a divorce for the sake of my pup. Besides, I’m about to see my fated mate. Sooner or later, I’d had to reject him and forget about him.”

“So you admit…”

“Well, like you said, I can’t lie to you, so why should I waste my time?”

I took a deep breath and continued, “It will take some time, but I know that soon, I can stop loving him, and every ounce of my remaining love for him with vanish as I clean up the mess brought by Kylian in my life.”

After forcing a smile, I continued walking. I stopped, looked up at the sky, and leaned on one of the tree barks along the way.

“Always remember, whatever happened, I’ll always be with you.”

Trisha’s words made my smile huge. To make the atmosphere a bit brighter, I laughed and joked, “As if you have a choice. You’re stuck with me.”

My wolf laughed as well.

After a while, once I calmed down, I continued to my residence.

Surprisingly, a familiar woman was standing at my door.

With furrowed eyebrows, I approached her.

“What are you doing here?” I asked Nancy, who immediately turned and looked at me.

She’s wearing a gray shirt paired with skinny pants, with her hair falling plainly at her back.

I narrowed my eyes and scrutinized her.

“What exactly is she planning?” I couldn’t help but wonder. She helped me earlier when she saw me being gossiped by the pack members. I couldn’t help but find it strange.

And now, she’s here at my residence without making a scene.

It’s so hard to believe that she’d be this civil.

She had this sincere expression on her face, which I had only seen recently.

Looking down, Nancy helplessly said, “I have something very important to tell you…”

She motioned at the door and continued, “But Diana won’t let me in, so I stayed here to wait for you.”

When I raised an eyebrow at her as a sign of suspicion, she immediately stood more upright and raised her right hand. “I swear to the Moon Goddess that it’s really important and concerns you. Please, you need to hear me out.”

I stared at her for a while, observing her every expression. Narrowing my eyes, I could feel that she didn’t seem to be lying. But it’s Nancy.

It’s the same woman who drugged Albert. I just couldn’t believe that she was someone who’d easily change her nature.
