Chapter 145

A few drops of rain were still dropping from the sky when I went out, but it wasn’t enough to wet my clothes, not that I cared about it right now anyway.
Many pack members greeted me, but I paid no attention to any of them. My focus remained as I walked straight to my father’s residence.
Stopping in front of it, I let out a sarcastic smirk. Now that I think about it, his house was the fanciest among all the houses in the pack. I pushed open the wooden door with an engraved wolf on it.
I stopped midway of getting in as my eyes widened in surprise. I looked around, totally bewildered at the scene in front of me.
Every piece of furniture had been changed to a new one which looked far more expensive. The chandelier was made of crystals, the coffee table had a gold lining on it, and the couch set was made of high-quality leather.
On top of the coffee table and other furniture lay a few ceramic vases with gold linings and designs around them.
It’s only been a month since I came in here, and yet I couldn’t see any trace of what was in here before. It’s a brand new.
I continued approaching and found him at the bar counter, still a bit tipsy based on the glass of wine on the counter.
When he saw me, he was immediately flustered and stood up in a hurry. Guilt glinted in his eyes before his stance and demeanor immediately changed. He pointed at me angrily and asked, “What do you think you're doing barging in here like this?”
I narrowed my eyes at him.
He’s only making it obvious that he’s hiding something. “I’m the Alpha.” Looking around, I added, “Everything here is my territory.”
Taking a step forward, I said, “I only informed you of my arrival beforehand because of my respect for you as my father… but tonight…”
I clenched my jaw. A few minutes earlier, when I opened the door, I mind-linked Henry and told him to bring that prostitute in here.
“We’re here,” Henry said in the mind link, so I turned around and went to the door. I grabbed the woman by the back of her head through her hair and nodded to Henry to dismiss him.
Throwing the woman right in front of my father, I shouted, “Explain!”
My father blinked in shock, completely stunned by being caught by his tricks.
His body trembled in anger, and pointed at the woman. “You useless thing!’ he shouted and slapped her with the back of his hand, making her head turn from the impact and fall onto the ground.
I scoffed, feeling even more disappointed.
The woman admitted that it was my father doing so, so what was I expecting? Maybe I wanted to hear him reasoning out, making excuses or denying it? Or maybe see a hint of regret from him. But no, he was even very open about it.
When I thought he couldn’t disappoint me even further, he kept proving me otherwise.
He pursed his lips and glared at me. “You are an alpha, and as one, you shouldn’t be losing your shit for a woman, much less a lowlife omega like Della!”
He tapped on his chest and spoke arrogantly, “I am doing everything I can to help you forget Della as soon as possible! I am doing everything for the pack and for you!” He pointed at me.
Scoffing, he added, “How dare you question me like this?”
I sneered at that. “For the pack and me?”
Hearing that made me want to laugh so hard. Was he for real?
“Are you really doing this for my own good, or so you can control me? You may be forgotten, but I’m no longer a child you can deceive at the snap of your finger!”
I’ve always seen him as a great Alpha who devoted himself and me to Dark Moon, but I never thought that… I don’t know…
He looked at me like I was being ridiculous. At first, he seemed like he was trying to control himself, but after my words, he lost it.
Swiping everything on the encounter, it fell onto the ground and broke into many pieces. Furiously, his eyes reddened as he murderously stared at me. “I am your father! I personally trained you to be the best Alpha and put all my hopes on you! But ever since that bitch Della came, you believe in her nonsense and lose it!”
“That bitch ruined you! She’s the reason why you're no longer qualified to be looked up to as an Alpha!”
My heart broke into even more pieces at every word he uttered. A qualified alpha?
What’s a qualified alpha to begin with? One that could protect his pack? One that’s feared by many?
I scoffed and sarcastically laughed. Of course not! For him, a qualified alpha was a phone he could control like a puppet!
Suddenly, I realized one thing. All along, Della was right. I shouldn’t have indulged him so much. How could I be so blind?
Growing up, I’d always wanted to feel the warmth of a father. Deep inside, I wanted him to be proud of me… genuinely proud. Even just once. But maybe I asked for too much, and the betrayal I felt at that moment woke me up from my delusion hurt so badly.
I never felt so alone. Della’s tired of me, and my father was never my father to begin with.
Standing up straight, I never felt so numb and furious as I was before.
With dominance, I approached him, stopping just a few inch away, and looked straight into his eyes. “You should never speak to your alpha like that!”
“You! How dare you!” he angrily shouted and was about to smack me when Ryan suddenly came out of the hallway and went between us.
“Stop it!” he shouted while looking at me. “Your father is just drunk.”
Then, he looked at the woman on the floor and added calmly, “If something happened, you two can talk about it once he’s sober and your both calmed down. Do it tomorrow, okay?”
My father tried to attack again, but Ryan held him down.
Looking at his red eyes and the stench of alcohol lingering in the air, I calmed my wolf down and nodded.
Turning around, I was about to leave, but that bitch held onto my ankle for her dear life.
She started crying. “Please! Take me! I dont’ want to stay here, please! I’ll do anything. I can do anyy job you want!”
She looked at my father, and shakingly said, “H-he’ll kill me… I can’t stay here.”
The make up on her face was in a mess from all her tears, and she francctically shook her head as she begged me. Right at that moment, her face overlapped with Flora’s in my memory...
Their expressions were exactly the same. So fragile and pitiful, which inspired me to protect her...
