Chapter 140

Figidly, I waited anxiously as I looked at the door, waiting for Henry to return. Preferably with Della with him.
Not long after, the door swung open, and my body jolted a bit in anticipation. When Henry entered, I subconsciously looked behind him, wishing Della would pop out and give me a cheerful smile as if to say that we would be fine again.
But sourness only intensified the pain in my wounded heart, and my lips formed into a bitter smile as soon as I saw the pity in Henry’s eyes.
Of course… she didn’t change her mind… Just as I expected.
I knew that it was what would happen, but still… it left me even more broken.
Silence filled the room, and my hand subconsciously tried to grab another bottle of wine, but Henry was fast.
In a matter of seconds, he was by my side, holding my wrist and stopping me from doing so.
Sitting beside me, he reminded me in a cautious and gentle tone, “Alpha Kylian… You are an Alpha. Our Alpha.”
I glared at him. “You–” The voice that came out of my mouth was a mixture of mine and my wolf. I could also feel my nails digging into my palm as my nails elongated.
My breathing became unstable, and I had this huge urge to shift and run.
Henry held me on b oth my shoulders and firmly said, “Alpha, you must control yourself and your wolf. Otherwise, I’ll have to call the pack doctor and let him give you a sedative.”
“I–”
“It’s unfair, yes, but you are the Alpha, and there’s a huge responsibility weighing on your shoulders. You can’t fall on depression, or every pack member will feel it and be affected by it.”
I closed my eyes and took a few deep breaths until my fist loosened. Once I got hold of myself, I shoved Henry’s hands that were on my shoulder.
With a sigh, I replied, “I understand. I’ll handle it.”
Henry pursed his lips and shook his head before looking back at me with a calmer expression. “I can see the evident pain in your eyes. You can talk to me if you need someone to listen. I’ll always be here.”
He jokingly scoffed and added, “After all, I’m not just your Beta. I’m also your friend.”
I laid my torso on the bed and looked at the ceiling. “Thank you, Henry. But this one… it will take a lot more time to subside.”
My heart and mind were in a dilemma of whether I should give up on Della now.
Like a trailer of a movie, my mind flashed with various moments when I was with Della. I could see her beautiful smiles when she laughed at the jokes I said. Her flashed cheeks when I kissed her and how she shied away when I flirted with her.
It was all good all day with her. Days I wished I could bring back.
“What will you do about Della next?” Henry asked after quite some time.
Suddenly, I felt so empty inside.
Before, I rejected Flora, my fated mate. I was able to face the consequence of the breakage of the mate bond, but my ability had been affected.
Because of that, I was left with no choice but to tolerate my father’s interference in the affairs related to the Crimson Pack. I faced it and willingly accepted the consequences.
I could do the same thing with Della. I’d just reject her, break my mate bond with her, and sign that divorce paper she urgently wanted to have. Then, it would be all over.
‘But was that the ending I could handle?’ I asked myself.
In the end, after much thought, I still couldn’t answer Henry’s question.
With pain in my heart, I bitterly said, “I’m afraid it won’t be so easy to handle.”
Henry looked at me with confusion.
Sighing, I sat up and gave him a nod, indicating that he could voice out his question.
“Flora is your mate. Your fated mate. How can you reject her without much thought but can’t do the same for Della? I don’t understand it.” His eyebrows were furrowed, and his eyes glinted with a hint of anger.
I let out a smile and pointed at my heart. With a sigh, I conveyed to him, “Because it's not just about the bond. It’s about my heart. She’s been a part of it for a long time, and giving up on her is like tearing my heart apart and throwing a piece of it.”
Henry’s eyes deepened with sympathy.
I knew how worried he was about me. Seeing me in pain would also bring him negative feelings as well. It’s better if he won’t see me in great pain for much longer.
Letting out a forced smile, I tapped on his shoulder and nodded towards the door. “Go on, I want to rest.”
“Take care, okay?” he reminded me before standing up and patting my shoulder comfortingly.
Once he left and my door closed, I let myself fall on a seat on the carpet, surrounded by the empty bottles of wine and the alcoholic scent engulfing me.
One. Two. Three. I didn’t know how much wine I drank, but I remember chunking one after another.
With every gulp, I’d see Della’s captivating face radiating with happiness. Her smile was reaching her eyes, and she’d had rosy cheeks at her every glimpse of me.
Then… every time, that face would change. I’d see her getting further from me and her smile turning into a frown while her eyes streamed tears that could make a flood.
“Della… I love you…” I whispered softly as my eyelids went heavy and darkness filled my sight.
Stirring with a moan, I opened my eyes.
For a little while, I was in a state of confusion. I felt a stinging sensation on my shoulder, so I stood up hazily and went straight in front of a mirror. Looking at it, I saw an injection mark on my outer bicep.
“Damn him!” I uttered as I shook my head. In the end, Henry had no choice but to inject me with a sedative.
For the past few days, he’d usually do that to keep me from losing control of myself and to prevent me from falling into a deeper depression.
“Won’t you see her yet?” Henry asked me that one day, but I could only remain silent.
Up until now, I still dare not face her because I still long for her. I missed her so much that I fear I’d do something I shouldn’t when I saw her.
In the end, I could only hide and watch her from afar.
I let out a sarcastic laugh. “What an irony.”
I’m Alpha Kylian, known to be a powerful Alpha. And yet, here I was, acting timid in the face of Della, an omega who was looked down on by many.
My room was located at the highest point of the pack, so I can easily see every corner of the pack. Standing by the window, I looked down onto the garden, where I saw Della smiling so brightly, like how she smiled before.
Even though I knew I shouldn't, I couldn't help but look at her secretly. Diana had set up a wooden table outside the shed, so that Della and Ralph could sit across from each other. Just seeing her smile at another man, I was almost mad with jealousy.
My jaw clenched, and I slammed my fist on the concrete. Fury radiated on me as I saw how she was living so peacefully and even happily.
Longingly, I stared at her. “I’m here drowning in pain, and there you are, acting like nothing happened.”
How dare she! I roared inwardly. “Do you hate me that much for you to be so relieved after you got rid of me? Am I nothing for you?”
But the nect second I realized why and smiled bitterly. “Why did I realize it all too late? Now…I lost you…”
And that was my biggest regret.
But after all that I’ve done to her? I understood why she did that, which was why I couldn’t blame her because I deserved all this pain.
A few seconds later, Diana approached them and gave them a glass of drink. Suddenly, her eyes shifted to where I was hiding.
With widened eyes, she dropped the tray where the glasses were earlier and pointed in my direction in shock. Before Della could see me, I turned and ran back to my room.
“Fuck it! You coward!” I scolded myself and soullessly dipped into the bathtub; with my eyes closed, all I could see was Della’s smile.
My breathing deepened, and the warm water relaxed my body.
Moments later, I heard the water dripping on the floor and felt another presence dipping inside the bathtub I was in.
I slowly opened my eyes and saw Della standing beside me with her calves dipped in the water. She was naked with only a bath towel wrapped around her, covering her chest down to the middle of her legs.
My breathing shallowed, and my heart beat incredibly fast while I stared at her.
The warm water vapor engulfed her captivating presence, making her more beautiful in my eyes. It’s like she’s taking me in, and I was being hypnotized.
She delicately raised her right hand, slowly sliding it from her waist up to her breast and on top of her cleavage, delicately holding the knot of her towel.
With a seductive smile, she undid the knot and slowly pulled it off.
My navel clenched, and I sweat profusely despite being in the water. Suddenly, arousal filled me, especially when she completely pulled off the towel, showing me her nakedness.
