Chapter 141

I sat beside the window, sipping a glass of milk and looking outside mindlessly.
For the past few days, my life had been quiet… Or rather, empty.
After Henry confronted me that day, I've never seen Kylian anymore. Without realizing it, I would occasionally sit here and just look outside as if waiting for something or someone. I didn't want to, but I couldn't help myself from missing him from time to time.
A few days had already passed, and I couldn't forget how lonely and shuttered he looked when Kylian left that day under the rain.
Placing down the glass, I shook my head to wake me up from my reasonable thinking. “Stop thinking about it. That old Della is back,” I reminded myself.
To begin with, Kylian and I were not really fated mates. We tried to defy fate and push what we wanted amidst the disapproval of his family.
From the very beginning, we shouldn't have been together. And that same goes until now.
That foolish Della I was before was dead, murdered from all the insults and degrading actions they threw me in.
I sarcastically laughed.
After everything, anyone who would have done the same thing as I did. Anyone with dignity would leave, even if they were an omega.
My hand slid down to my belly, feeling my pup's presence. For the past few days, aside from occasional missing Kylian, I have paid more attention to my puppy. From now on, he or she will be the most important thing in my life.
“Our pup is growing so well… I'm so excited to meet her or him!” Trisha was jumping in happiness as she gave me the news.
Indeed, I could feel my growing pup as well.
My hand caressed it more tenderly. “Me too,” I replied to Trisha.
I smiled brightly. At least, after all the struggles I faced in my life, I got something good out of it. My puppy will be by my side, and that's enough to make me feel joyful for a lifetime.
I sighed and finished my glass of milk.
“I can imagine as playing with our pup and teaching it to shift! Oh, that will be so exciting! We can run together! And–”
“Calm down.” I laughed and tried to stop her because her overflowing excitement was radiating in me, and I almost wanted to jump around as well.
“But you have to admit, you too are excited!”
I nodded with a huge smile. Genuine, that had been so long since I had. “Yes… Of course, I am. I'm looking forward to it.”
Suddenly, there was a knock on my study door.
"Ms. Della, Ralph is here. He is waiting for you in the garden. You can change your clothes and come out. I will prepare tea and fruits for you." Diana said softly, opening the closet and taking out a set of comfortable clothes for me.
"That's great, thank you Diana." Ireally appreciate her taking such good care of me.
"That's my pleasure, Ms. Della." She winked at me mischievously and backed away.
I pushed away the messy thoughts I just had, changed my clothes and walked to the garden. Once I pushed open the door, I saw Ralph stood next to the wrought iron table, holding a roll of drawings in his hand.
Thankfully, although still being pale, he looked much better.
"Your Highness, good morning. I have prepared everything you want." Seeing me walking out, Ralph raised the scroll in his hand and smiled at me.
"Oh you mean a cup of coffee and a giant bacon pizza?" I joked, trying to cheer him up. But it's not all a joke. Only the goddess knew how hungry I was for coffee. Diana has banned me from all caffeine since I found myself pregnant.
Ralph, who clearly lacks a sense of humor, was stunned by my joke, "I...can bring it to you if you want. Your Highness."
"Ralph! I heard you say caffeine! No one can give Ms. Della coffee in front of the Caffeine Prosecutor Diana!" Diana's voice came from across the room, even though we didn't see her at all.
I shrugged at Ralph, and burst out laughing.
"I'm doing this all for your own good..." Diana babbled as she came out of the room, carrying fruit. But suddenly her hand shook and the plates fell to the ground and broke into pieces.
"What's wrong?" I followed her shocked eyes, turned my head and found... Kylian.
When he noticed that I turned my head, he ran away in a hurry, leaving only his back.
But still I knew it's Kylian.
I'm not numb or dumb. For the past few days, I've felt him hiding nearby and peeking at me. He's being stupid to think I wouldn't know when I could vividly smell his minty scent.
But since I already made up my mind that I'd be divorcing him, even though my heart was longing for him, I just turned a blind eye.
"How dare he come!" Diana jumped up and went to get the broom, but I stopped her. "He's gone. Just pretend we didn't see him."
Looking at the sky, which had been clear just a moment ago, suddenly turned cloudy. The clouds were so thick and dark, as if a heavy rain would fall soon. It's hard to say this isn't an ominous sign.
Seeing Kylian again messed up my mind. I lowered my head and said with guilt. "Ralph... I'm sorry, but I think it's going to rain soon. You should go back first before it becomes unsafe if it rains. We'll look at your drawings another day."
Ralph nodded and said goodbye to me, took the umbrella that Diana handed him and left.
Sure enough, it started raining heavily soon.
With a heavy heart, I went back into my room. Reminded of my pup, I forced myself to take a shower and change into pajamas.
I shouldn’t think about Kylian any more. I shouldn’t.
I repeated to myself and letting my stiff body relax on my soft mattress of mine. But my phone suddenly rang from the nightstand.
With an annoyed moan, I sat up and grabbed it. Looking at the screen, I sat up with urgency upon seeing that it was Troy who was calling.
Being the security director of the kingdom, he wouldn't call me without an important matter.
Without wasting more time, I swiped the answer button and pushed all my emotions deep into my heart.
“Hello,” I greeted in a diplomatic manner.
“Your Highness, I found evidence that Luke had accepted bribes. He got a huge sum of money from the Crimson pack!” he reported.
My blood suddenly woke up, and my stiffened body came to life. “How much?”
“He took a total of 1 million dollars from them, and I also learned that apart from that, he will get a 5 percent commission for every sale they will have at the Dark Moon Pack.”
My heart was beating so fast. I was delighted that he got evidence, but at the same time, I was boiling with more anger. It just proved to me how much of a monster Luke was to throw his members in jeopardy for the sake of money.
Looking outside, the thunderstorm seemed to mirror the pain and fury in me.
“What's the evidence?”
“I sent some spies in the Crimson Pack and nearby areas to investigate. They had a recording where some high-ranking members of Crimson Pack were gossiping about Luke's cooperation with their pack, and…” I could hear the suppressed anger in Tory as he hesitated to continue.
My hands tremble as they tighten on the phone. “Tell me.”
“Apparently, Luke also knows about the addictive and dangerous ingredient in the Crimson Pack's products.”
“And he still went on?” I couldn't help but exclaim.
I was trembling with fury that I wanted to run and squish the life out of Luke.
After a few seconds of silence, Troy asked, “What do you plan to do, Princess Della?”
I took a deep breath and calmed my burning fury. “Since Kylian did timely countermeasures of setting up a laboratory and testing facility, those addictive drugs won't enter the Dark Moon Pack. It's been less than a month already since I signed the divorce papers…”
“So, you want to reveal it after Alpha Kylian signs it as well?”
Nodding, I continued, “Yes. I think it will be better to ensure first that I get a smooth divorce before I expose Luke's crimes.”
I worry that if I do it before then, my puppy would be at a huge risk because, for sure,, a huge chaos would follow that revelation. Riots and inner disputes would happen.
Though I'm the Lycan Princess, and I'm confident with my strength as well as Trisha's, my pup was someone I'd never take the risk of getting hurt.
“That's a great idea, Princess. I'll send you the evidence via email in a few minutes. Just let me know how I can help, and I'll be at your disposal.”
“Thank you.”
After that, we ended the call.
I agitatedly waited for my email, and as soon as I received it, I browsed through the recording and a video attached to it. My hands trembled, and I slammed my fist on the desk in anger.
“Damn you, Luke! You're really an asshole!” I cursed with gritted teeth.
“Ms. Della, are you alright?” Diana peeked at the door, worried evident in her face.
I shook my head and only dismissed her. “It's nothing. Go on.” Hesitantly, she left.
My phone then pinged. With a shallow breath, I picked it up and saw a message from Albert.
“I'm sorry, I've been too busy these past few days and wasn't able to call or message you. I'm doing good, and everything is going well. Don't worry so much, I'll be able to receive calls soon. In my time here, I've been able to figure out a lot of things here and what's really important to me. It gives me a clear vision of what I really want.”
I sighed.
“At least I got some good news today,” I uttered out loud, knowing I could talk to Albert in a call soon.
Smiling, I replied, “Okay, I'm looking forward to it.”
I was about to get back on my computer when a thought suddenly came into me at random, “Did Albert find his fated mate there?”
If that's the case, I'd be really happy for him.
With that good news, I laid back down to rest. After everything that had happened, I was too exhausted to think about anything else. With the loud thunder in the background, my eyelids got heavier until I fell asleep.
