Kylian kept walking toward me with that oppressing demeanor, almost making me want to take a step back. However, my wolf warned me off.
“Don’t you dare! He may be an alpha, but you’re the Lycan princess!” Trisha shouted at the back of my mind.
She’s right.
For years, I couldn’t help but be weak around Kylian. But only because I love him.
I held my head high and looked at him, finally summing up my courage to do so. However, as soon as I looked up to him, I vividly saw how his eyes kept changing from gold to brown and vise versa.
‘Kylian and his wolf are fighting for dominance.’ I realized.
After all, Kylian was an alpha. There was no alpha in this world who could tolerate being challenge and provoke in such manner.
They were naturally aggressive and dominant, that those who dare to challenge them for their authority would likely end up being severely punished.
Though Kylian was tolerable of his father, and mostly kind. He was still an alpha. I could still vividly remember what happened years ago at the border...
“Alpha, rogues tried to break and enter from the South corder!” One of the warriors rushed in at the dining table during dinner time, and reported with a heavy breath.
Kylian immediately stood up, knocking his chair in the process.
I stared at them as they ran out of the door.
Both worried and curious, I stood from my chair and discreetly followed behind them.
Hidden from the back of a tree bark, I watched the scene unfold before me.
Kylian and Henry stood uprightly a few miles from the border with four warriors behind them. In front of them were five rogues with bulky figure and bloodthirsty eyes. The one in front, seemingly the leader, had his mouth open. His fangs were visible as the prolonged nails in his hand.
Kylian waved his hand, and in a matter of second, his nails prolonged into a long, thin, and sharp nails. Threateningly, he asked, “What are you doing, trespassing in my pack!”
In kingdom law, anyone who trespass in a pack’s territory without an invitation, rogue or not, could be killed by the Alpha without investigation.
One of the men behind the leader of the rogues, replied, “We’re just passing through. What’s the problem?”
“You are not given any permission to do so, nor did you asked for one!” Henry replied in a gritted teeth. Everyone was in an alert mode.
The leader of the rouges let out a sarcastic laugh. “It’s not like you’re not powerful.” He smirked and looked at Kylian dead in the eyes, “You’re the alpha? From what I heard far from the forest, you’re nothing but just a puppet of the former Alpha.”
Kylian gritted his teeth together and his fangs subconsciously showed. “Get out now or leave here in a dead body!”
The rogue leader looked at him provokingly from head to toe, and stood in a non-threatened manner. “Is that suppose to scare me off? Someone like you… isn’t even…”
Before he could finish his words, Kylian’s clothes torned into a thousand pieces, and he shifted into his huge wolf. With a loud growl that echoed through the entire pack, he attacked.
That was the first time I saw Kylian so furious before. Without hesitation, he attacked and injured that man severely that he could barely stand up. He tortured him and made him suffer greatly before he killed him.
Right now, I was seeing the same eyes on him. Dangerous and dominating.
His steps were heavy and slow. Obviously, threatening. Out of fury, his breath was heavy. As his chest rose and fall evidently, his lips were partially parted, making me feel his hot and moist breath over my face.
Damn, since when did he got so close to me?
He was not even saying a word, but I could immensely feel his demeanor radiating all over him.
My foot started to move, ready to back away, but I stopped myself from doing so. His eyes were so deep, and he’s staring at me so intensely that my legs felt like it would go weak any second.
Only an inch apart from me, he stopped. His hot breath was fanning on my lips, and his resign chest was almost touching mine.
“B-back off!” I warned. But instead of sounding stern and angry, I seemed to fail and sounded husky instead.
I swallowed.
I remained alert of his every action. When his hand rose from his side, and slowly came toward me, my wolf let out a warning, “Be careful!”
“What?”
“Kylian and his wolf is on edge! Fight back!” Trisha warned me.
Alpha’s who were challenged and provoked would usually harm the one who triggered their anger. They would attack to punish the one who challenged their authority. And right now… it was me.
His hands were half way in the air. I had my fingers spread, ready to attack him back if he ever strike, but what happened next surprised me.
His eyes was burning with fury, almost red, as he tried to suppress his anger and the glint of pain in him. And his hand that seemed to attack me became gentler as it fell on my cheek. Holding me so dearly.
With a hoarse voice, he said, “I never thought that in your heart, I was that miserable and terrible.”
He leaned down, staring blankly at me while he kept caressing my cheek with varied emotions I couldn’t keep track off. “You used love me so dearly that I was your world. With just one look at you, and I knew how much you love me. You followed me wherever I was and supported any of my decisions.”
Kylian shook his head slightly, pain glinting in his eyes. “What happened now? Where has the old Della gone?”
His chin quivered as his thumb moved on my cheek, seemingly finding someone in me. “Please, give me my old Della back. And I swear, I’ll correct my mistake and love you forever. I won’t hurt you any more.”
My heart clenched. His voice was hoarse, and his begging tone seemed to left a mark in me. He sounded and looked so much in pain that some of it had radiated to my heart as well.
His eyes looked so broken.
But looking deep in his eyes now that was full of pain, all I see was a reflection of the pain I endured for many years while with him. If not same, mine was far more.
For my love for him, I gave up an honorable identity as the Lycan Princess and turned my back from my family and obligations. For him, I chose to be a humble omega, serving everyone in the pack and lowering myself to the ground.
I did a thousand of dirty world that I never once did in my life… all so I could stay by his side. All of it… just so I could gain his love.
I held it all in, endured it all, and compromised everything I had… to such extent that I even let Flora’s presence be in the middle of our relationship.
All the provocation and torture Flora brought me together with Margot and Natasha for three years still formed a scars that engraved in my heart until now.
All those sacrifices I made were returned with what? Kylian favored Flora more than me, his Luna and wife. He neglected me in every aspect and emotionally broke me apart over and over again.
Fool! I told myself. How could I only be woken from the truth recently? It was long overdue.
As flashed backs of all my suffering and sacrifices came over me, tears uncontrollably streamed down my face as I let out a mocking smile at him.
Scoffing with bitterness, I replied to him, “The old Della? You’ve killed her yourself long ago, Kylian!”
I pointed my index finger on his chest and continued, “The Della who only knew how to love you was miserably murdered by you!” With pain overflowing in my eyes, I said with a quivering but stern voice, “She will never come back. Not even if you kneel and beg.”
With those words, his eyes turned completely black, voice of any hind of emotions. It’s as though he shut off and hid it all.
As if feeling the overflowing emotions radiating all over me and Kylian, the sky turned gray and the clouds loomed over the sky. Lighting flashed everywhere and loud thunders echoed all over the place. It was almost deafening.
Kylian’s shoulder slammed down in dejection and his hands which was holding me weakly shook, dropped back at his side.
He looked at me in astonishment as if he finally realized how right I was. The old Della who loved him whole-heartedly was dead, all because of him.
His mouth opened quietly, intending to defend himself, but in the end, nothing came out.
The light in his eyes suddenly went out.
“Yes...It’s all...my fault.” He spoke brokenly, his face pale and lifeless.
With eyes void of anything, he turned and opened the door all while repeating the phrase “It’s all my fault” as he leave with chaotic steps.
“Ky–” I was about to call him as he stepped under the strom, and the rain immediately wet his clothes, but I stopped myself.
I just stood there, and stared until his figure disappeared before my legs finally gave out, making me dropped and fall onto the ground.
My hands rose to my chest, clenching on it as if that would lessen the pain I was feeling. I could no longer help myself and cry my heart out. Without care for anything, I let the loud thunder and the storm to camouflage my loud cries.
“This marks it’s end.’ I thought to myself as I clenched my chest harder.
Finally, like I wanted, everything between me and Kylian had been severed. I should be happy right? But why did my heart was bleeding so hard? Why did it felt like I was being stabbed by a million sharp things, eating my life out?
