Chapter 123

Kylian’s POV

Dejectedly, I was left with no choice but no to just go back to my office right after I paid the restaurant, looking at Della’s retreating back.

Slamming myself down to my office’s swivel chair, I let out a sigh.

“Della…” I uttered her name with hint of longingness.

Della has become more and more unpredictable recently. She obviously still loved me and wanted to be with me, but why did she keep running away?

I wonder what else must I do to get her heart again. But the real question was, would I still be able to get it?

On top of my table was a document. The emblem of the Crimson Pack told me that it was the agreement about the new supplier. My eyebrows furrowed as another surge of headache came through me.

I pinched the inbetween of my eyebrows with my thumb and index finger, hoping to lessen the pain, but it was all in vain.

Then, I saw the telephone. “Might as well work,” I said in the air.

My heart ached out of longing for Della while my headache for all the pack issues. I might as well get busy and try not to think of all the pain I was feeling.

“Henry, come to my office” I called out as soon as I dialed his number.

“On my way.”

Indeed, after a few seconds, he was already knocking.

“Come in.”

Upon opening the door, he stood in front of my desk. “You called for me, Alpha?”

“Has the new medication supply arrived? Make sure that all of it has been thoroughly examined before letting it in,” I clarified.

As soon as the result was out, I activated all my plan B.

Since I knew that my chances to retain the Silver Bow Pack as the supplier, I made another preparation to hire skilled pharmacists and other professionals to examine every medicine before it entered the pack.

All the deliveries would undergo three phases. First, it would be physically checked by the warriors for physical damage and changes, then it would be a pharmacist that would cross check the drugs that arrived and we ordered. Lastly, it would be examined by the pharmaceutical scientist, to ensure that there weren't illegal drugs or herbs added to it.

They were all trained professionals who had keen scenes of smells; both trained with werewolf knowledge and human resources. I knew that nothing would go wrong with them being there.

“Yes, Alpha. It’s all being checked now. And the first batches all turned fine,” Henry reported.

Letting a sigh of relief, I replied, “That’s good to hear.”

I nodded, and leaned back on my seat.

Since he didn’t seem to be leaving, I asked, “Anything more?”

“It’s strange…” he started, making me raise an eyebrow out of confusion.

“What?” I asked, surprised of his disrespect.

“Before, you will intentionally eat slowly to spend more time with Ms. Della. Why are you back so soon?” He was looking at me as though he was examining me.

In an instant, I felt a bitter taste in my mind. Way to remind me!

Henry let out a sarcastic laugh, and remarked, “She broke your heart again, didn’t she? You should just give up on her. That woman will only use another man to break your heart over and over again. Obviously, she didn’t love you anymore!”

I could hear the restraint in his voice, but it's evident that he was furious.

I could only look at him and laugh with ease. “Henry, you don’t understand women as well as  I do. I know and I can feel it. She still loves me.”

Henry looked at me, dumbfound.

Continuing, I said, “See, she even went to great lengths just to deal with my father and remove him - another obstacle between us, from our path.”

I couldn’t help but smile at the thought of that.

Henry shook his head in disbelief. “You have gone crazy because of love. It’s outrageous!”

Despite his joking insult, the smile on my face remained. Confidently, I explained, “look, Della personally told me that my father is our biggest obstacle in love. She tried so hard to prove my father’s guilt at the voting so it mostly meant that she wanted to be together with me again.”

He looked at me for a while, and processed what I said before nodding. “That makes sense. After all, she’s still an omega. How can she feel such a great consideration over the pack members like a real Luna?”

Victoriously, I waved my hand and smiled even more, “See?”

“By the way, you have to be more cautious of Sir. Luke. I think there’s something more behind his sudden proposal to change suppliers,” he reminded me, getting back to serious business.

I nodded a bit, and leaned back on my chair while I tapped my fingers on my armrest with my eyes far to my thoughts.

Indeed, my father’s recent behavior was to be questioned. His decisions were extremely different from his usual actions. The Silver Bow Pack had been our pack’s medicine supply for more than a decade.

Furthermore, it’s been known that their strength, reputation ,and experience were far much greater than the Crimson pack.

'Did he really take bribes from the Crimson Pack like Della instituted?’ I couldn’t help but think about it.

However, as soon as that thought came to me, I frantically shook my head. No, that couldn’t be the case.

“Alpha, everything alright?” Henry asked in worry.

“Yes…”

Standing, I started phasing around and thinking things through.

I knew that my father wasn’t the best one in the world. In fact, he’s probably the worst. Not only would he abuse me, but he won’t even let me be as close as to my mother in fear that it would make my heart weaker.

He always sought for me to be a true and fearless alpha for the pack’s sake.

However, when it came to benign Alpha, he always had been thinking for the best benefits for the pack. It would be unlikely for him to make decisions due to personal gains as trivial as bribes.

I still remembered that there was even a time, when I was a child, I sneaked out of my training to wander around. Later that day, he found me fooling around in the forest.

“Kylian!” he shouted so loud that it echoed in the entire forest.

He ran toward me and mercilessly grabbed me by my arm. “You lazy fool! How can you play here when you should be training?”

“Agh! Father, please!” I begged in pain as he threw me in the basement, punishing me for my laziness.

Towering above me, he had his eyebrows furrowed and his lips pursed together. With his arms across his chest, he told me the words I couldn’t forget till this day.

“An alpha is not a mere title that gives you power. It’s a position that must make you strive harder. You don’t live for yourself, but for the entire pack. You have hundreds and thousands of members on your shoulder, and that you must carry for your entire life.”

He was looking at me with much genuinity that I first saw in him. He was intently looking at me with determination to make his words engrave in me, and he succeeded.

That’s why I was so confident that even though he’s a terrible father and family, he would never betray the Dark Moon Pack.

Finally stopping, I looked at Henry with determination, and said while looking straight into his eyes, “It’s impossible for him to betray the pack.”

“But if he indeed does it for money, I’ll kill him myself…”
