Chapter 108
1709words
With a smirk on my lips, I took a step forward toward Luke and grabbed my phone from my pants’ back pocket.
Scrolling through it for a while, I played a video, and faced the screen to them.
“You really think so highly of yourself, don’t you? Let’s settle this then…”
“Bow your head on me in submission and begged me. Then, I’ll let you leave unharmed. Otherwise, you’ll have to fight every omega here.”
“Did you hear that? She thinks she’s better than us! Let’s teach her a lesson, shall we?”
“All I see is an ugly and cheap bitch omega who thinks highly of herself.”
“Omegas, I think she’s still dreaming. Why don’t you use your fist and wake her up so she can remember her status?”
“You’ll regret what you did today! I’ll make sure of it.”
Every word that Abigail uttered could be heard from the video, as well as the insults of those omegas and how they started attacking me.
I looked at the watchers and they were all shocked. Even the warriors who were at the side couldn't help but widen their eyes at the scene they were seeing from my phone’s screen.
They certainly didn't expect that someone would dare to treat a Luna like this, using such insulting language!
"Abigail went too far, she actually lied to us!"
"Yes, those insulting words were obviously said by them!"
The sound of low-pitched discussion slowly emerged from the crowd.
After the video ended, I put the phone back and looked at Luke. "Now, please punish as you said!"
The entire canteen was shrouded in silence.
Until someone suddenly gasped which made me turn my eyes.
At Luke’s side was Stella.
She had her hand on her mouth with her eyes wide open in shock. She’s also the first to actually react.
“My goddess! How can something like that happen? No pack should allow any omega to insult their Luna in any manners, much less in such an aggressive approach. Such behavior will make others laugh at you,” she said as she gave a glance to every omegas before landing on Luke.
Luke’s face looked like a puffer fish. As Stella’s every word reached his small brain, he realized how it would make his pack a laughing stock.
Though he hates me, there is one thing he loves more than anything in the world, and that would be Dark Moon’s reputation.
His eyes turned golden brown as he and his wolf got furious. His face also turned red and his hands were on fist, ready to vent at any second.
Shifting his eyes to Abigail, fury could be seen in them as he asked, “What really happened? Tell the truth!”
“Ah… I…” Her voice was shaking as she trembled and fiddled around, not knowing what to do.
In the end, she bowed her head so low and kneel on the ground. “I-I’m really sorry. Please, I beg you, forgive me for my insolent actions.”
The other omegas who were at her side also trembled in fear and started crying while asking for forgiveness as well.
They couldn’t deny the mistake they made any longer. After all, it’s all recorded in the video that Diana took from that day. They would only be more foolish if they keep going on with their lies.
“You are fools! Not only did you insult Luna, but you also physically attacked her like she’s some kind of enemy. What were you all thinking?” Stella asked with a furrowed eyebrow.
Staring at Abigail, she added, “You! How can you lead the other omegas like that? As a manager, you should be teaching them proper conduct rather than leading them astray!”
Her every word was like a fuel on the expanding fire at this moment. Though I came to be uncomfortable with her, she’s been helpful this time.
Luke only got even more furious and slammed his hand on the table next to him. Echoes of loud banging filled the room which was almost deafening to werewolves like us.
“How dare you–” He was writhing in anger.
Stella looked at Luke. “I believe that the severity of their actions should lead to them being punished and convicted.”
Luke nodded in agreement with his fist trembling in fury.
Seeing how things were going, Abigail desperately pointed at Abigail as she accused, “Please! It’s all her fault! Abigail started all of this. She said that we should do all of that to Luna Della. She’s our boss, and she forced us to do it!”
I inwardly scoffed. They were really cowards and insolent beings.
They would throw their own people, betray one another, just for the sake of their own survival.
Nancy started crying while wiping a few tears from her cheek with the back of her hand. Obviously, she’s doing what she does best again - acting pitiful.
She turned her eyes and came at me. She kneeled and begged with great desperation, “Please, Luna Della. Forgive me! I swear, from now on, I’ll take good care of you… Please, I’m sorry.”
Looking at her acting like that only disgust me even more. She’s a real hypocrite!
The other omegas then followed Nancy and kept throwing Abigail out of the bus.
I shook my head and looked at them with disgust.
“You fools! Stop pointing fingers at me! You’re doing it all even before I came!” Abigail angrily scolded the omegas, but they stood their ground.
“We only did that because you threatened us to do so!” Nancy retorted.
Looking at the side, I saw how Luke was nodding his head in agreement, and even saw a glint of relief in his eyes.
I scoffed at that. Of course, he was happy about how things turned out. As angry as he was, he probably didn’t want to reprimand the entire kitchen staff which would cause him a huge problem.
I could only roll my eyes at this as I started having a premonition of what would happen. And none of it would satisfy me nor give justice to what happened.
Luke tapped on the table again, taking everyone’s attention toward him. “Listen, you insolent fools! Because all of you were led and forced, I’ll let you off with a warning.”
Shifting his gaze to Abigail, he commanded, “But you! As a payment to what you did, you shall clean the toilet as your punishment!”
My mouth hangs open. I expected an unfair judgment, but what I heard was worse! Could that even be called a punishment?
I looked around, and could only sigh. Though anger and injustice were building in my heart, I understand the reason behind his judgment.
Banishing the entire kitchen staff would indeed cause a great crisis as the kitchen was the core of the pack. If its operation would be postponed or stopped, the entire pack would be affected.
If that were to happen, Luke and every other pack member would be furious with her again, blaming her why they would face such a problem.
It’s fine. I’ll leave soon anyway…
I just thought of that to subside my fury for a while.
In such circumstances, I could only compromise. After all, I’ll be leaving soon anyway. I could only accept how things went on. Besides, at least, they were still reprimanded… Just not the way I wanted it to be.
“I guess this ends this matter then…” I said with conclusion and turned to leave.
However, just after a few steps, I heard Stella’s voice, “Wait!”
I turned around, and looked at her with questions.
Stella shifted her gaze to Luke, and reasoned out, “Mr. Luke. No matter what the case is, Ms. Della is the pack’s Luna. A Luna living in a shack would be bad for the pack’s reputation. Even if everyone thinks that she won’t be a Luna of this pack soon, she is still one. That can’t be changed.”
I raised an eyebrow.
What a hypocrite! Did she think being kind would do her good? Did she want me appreciate her?
How ridiculous!
A sense of humiliation built up on me. I'm Luna, she’s right. And who was she?
How could she act like that and slap it in everyone’s face that even a Luna like me needed an assistance from her to live a better stance in this fucking pack?
All her suggestions and reasons from earlier up to now only made it seem how thirsty she was from taking over as Luna. She still had no position in this pack, and yet, she thought she could talk her way out and dictate the internal pack affairs.
With my head held high, I spoke with politeness, “Thank you for your words, Stella. But I don’t need to change places. I’m already comfortable where I am right now. If there’s nothing more, I shall turn my leave now then.”
Walking toward the exit, I heard Luke’s mocking voice disguised as his reply to Stella’s words. “Leave that lowly omega alone. She only gets what she deserves!”
Paying no more attention to them, I continued walking out of the door with Diana following behind me.
Just a few steps though, we ran into Kylian.
To my surprise, he looked exceptionally exhausted and weak. There were eyebags under his eyes and his entire demeanor just seemed different.
He looked… depressed…
I scanned his body with my eyes. He was wearing a long sleeve shirt, and pants. Narrowing my eyes, I became suspicious. Luke probably punished him again. Underneath those clothes of his would surely be cuts and bruises.
But it had nothing to do with me now.
I put aside the weird feeling in my heart and planned to just continue walking. But Kylian blocked my path. He looked back and forth from me and the canteen before asking, “Did dad do anything to you?”
Worry was evident in his voice. The weird feeling became stronger.
I shook my head. Just as I was about to answer with words though, Stella’s voice echoed from behind me.
“Kylian… you’re here!”
I kept looking at Kylian, and saw how his eyes widened in surprise before his eyebrowed narrowed in confusion.
“Stella. What are you doing here?”
