Chapter 80

I walked out of the cabin, still lost in thoughts. My heart was throbbing and my mind was in a mess as I tried to comprehend properly everything that Lucas said to me.
Kylian and I… We were never meant to be each other’s end game. I wasn’t expecting anything. I always knew that one way or another, we’ll part ways, but why do I still feel like this after knowing what would happen in the future.
Lucas said that I’ll meet my fated mate soon, be in love with him, and have a marriage. It’s a joyful prophecy. But the mere thought of being with another man made me uncomfortable for some reason. It hadn’t happened yet but I could already imagine Kylian’s dejected look once it happened.
Could I really handle it? Would I be able to really leave his life and live mine with another man?
While deep in thoughts, I suddenly saw Kylian standing and leaning at the post of the porch with his back on me.
My heart beat faster and all my troubled thoughts intensified.
Tears started to swell in the corners of my eyes but I withhold it.
Without thoughts, I ran toward him and wrapped my arms around his waist, hugging him as tight as I could. I let my chest and head rest on his back as I tried to find comfort in the familiarity of his body.
“Della…” he said in surprise. He held my hands that were on his stomach and attempted to turn around but I only tightened my hold on him even more.
I didn’t want him to see me in such a complicated condition.
I could feel his fast heartbeat, breathing movements, and the warmth his hand was radiating on. It all felt so good. A comfort in my worried heart.
“Did Lucas say anything to you? Something about our future? It’s something good, isn't it?”
What he said made me even more sad. He sounded so confident, but what Lucas had said was actually the complete opposite of it.
Finally composing myself, I let go of him and sat on the railing of the porch with my hand holding on the post he was leaning on earlier.
Kylian took a step back and looked intently into my eyes. He held my hand which I couldn’t push so easily as I did before.
“What happened?”
After pushing his hand, I looked at him, still have expectations in my heart that I can’t explain clearly.
“What do you think of Lucas’ ability as a wizard?” I asked lowly.
Kylian held his head high and smirked with pride. “There is no wizard in this world that can be more powerful than Lucas. He was known as the greatest wizard of all times after he received various recognition from every species. And despite being so powerful, he always used his abilities to do good. He also once became a counselor of a world leader, and all his advice and predictions were accurate.”
‘Great! That just makes everything better, doesn't it? He just has to prove that whatever Lucas said would likely happen.’
I took a deep breath and unbuckled the necklace that Lucas gave me. He said that I should wear it at all times.
“What is it?” Kylian stared at me and asked.
“Just a gift.” I chose to lie. I let the coldness of the metal box set on my chest when I made up my mind.
Now that my future with Kylian was sure, it was more reason for me to continue my divorce with him and end things for good.
‘How can you do that when you still have feelings for him?’ my wolf teased at the back of my mind, but I only blocked her thoughts.
I could do it. Feelings may fade and change. And besides, my fated mate will arrive soon. I guess that would make things even easier.
Not seeing the contradicting mood of mine with his, Kylian sat beside me and held my right hand that's holding on the railing.
“Della, you don’t have to worry about anything.”
I looked up at him, wondering what he meant. Did he see my worries?
“I’ll take care of you, and…” he planned to continue, but I asked, “What do you mean?”
He took a deep and intently look into my eyes. “You don’t have to suppress your feelings anymore.”
“I know that you still feel something for me. Della, let me take care of you. You don’t have to worry about anything anymore. I’ll do everything for you and give you everything you want.”
“Kylian, I–”
He showed me his palm, making me stop.
Kylian pushed the strand of my hand that was on my face, and pushed it to the back of my ear. “Della, please let me love you and show you the best of me. I’ll make you a Luna that’s well respected by everyone. No one can hurt you. Just stay by my side.”
There it goes again with status. What was so good with status to begin with? Was that a ticket to belittle those of lower rank?
I pushed his hand away and stood up.
“Kylian, I don’t need whatever status that you want to give me. I never cared for those things to begin with. I’ve told you many times but it won’t go through that thick head of yours,” I said with purse lips, making him shocked a bit. Irritated even.
Kylian stood up as well and smugness filled his face. “Della, come on. Let’s speak for real. You won’t want to be an omega again. Without me, without your title as my Luna, you will be enslaved and mistreated by others. Do you really want that to happen?”
“Hah!” I sneered. “You don’t have to worry about anything. That won’t happen because I–”
I wanted to tell him that I was the Lycan Princess he couldn't reach, but the words got stuck in my throat.
Because I know it's useless.
Saying it won’t even matter anyway. It won’t change a thing. He’ll always be keen on one’s title no matter what happens.
I let out a sigh and replied with a sarcastic laugh, “Kylian, you’re too full of yourself. You think you’re so righteous? Dream on.”
Shaking my head with dismay, I blurted out, “I’ll go back alone.”
With that, I started to walk off by myself. While walking on the rocky road, Lucas’ words kept running through my mind.
I was about to walk past the horse when I was harshly pulled by my wrist. My body pumped in his chest, and he immediately leaned down and placed his right arm on under my knees, carrying me in a princess style.
“Let go of me!” I protested, but he kept walking and forcefully placed me on the saddle of the horse.
“You…” I held onto the saddle’s horn and was about to get off when Kylian immediately jumped up on the saddle as well. He positioned himself on my back and held me tightly.
“Cluck cluck!” he angrily commanded the horse and in an instant, it galloped so fast that I couldn’t help but shout.
I struggled from his hold, saying, “Let go of me! I will go alone!”
I kept repeating in protest, but he kept a deaf ear.
He tightened his hold on me and shouted in my ear, “If you move again, I swear I will throw you down, Della. And let me tell you, with our pace and height, you’ll break your bones.”
That immediately shut me off. How dare he!
Feeling that I stopped, he pulled the reins even tighter and the horse ran even faster than it did when we came here.
