“Let go!” I shouted as soon as the horse came to stop at the front of the guest house. Kylian got off and held his hand out for me, trying to help me, but I was too angry and frustrated about him and everything that I pushed him away.
I jumped on my own, and in the process, I lost balance and stumbled, almost falling to the ground.
By ridiculous fate, Kylian caught me just in time so I was leaning back with his right arm around my waist and his face an inch closer to mine.
“Get off!” I pushed him away and turned around in a hurry, leaving him behind as I entered the guest room.
My heart was beating fast. As soon as I closed the door, I held the necklace pendant tightly, leaned on the door, and tried to calm myself down.
Once I finally calmed down, I grabbed the potion Lucas gave me from my bag.
“Ms. Della, you’re back.” One of the omegas whom I asked to take care of Albert came down from the stairs and greeted me as soon as she saw me.
“Yes, how is he?” I asked about Albert.
Just on cue, the other omega came down with a basin and towel.
“Still the same. We’re just about to change the basin’s water because it’s no longer cold.”
I nodded in understanding.
The one who just came down from the stairs smiled and looked over the window where she could see Kya pulling a horse.
“Oh, you went by horse. That's great…”
“What? Why? What do you mean?” I asked while going to the kitchen with them following behind me.
“Although Wizard Lucas is on Dark Moon Pack’s land and protected by our pack, he is of different kind and alone. The path to his cabin is covered with invisible wolfbanes.”
I dropped the mug I was holding on the counter and looked intently at them. “What?”
They merely nodded their heads.
“Go back now, I’lll continue with this.Thank you.” After saying that, the two of them turned around and went out to go back to their own tasks.
Suddenly, flashes of what happened earlier flashed before me.
He wouldn't let me walk back and had been aggressive in keeping me on the horse.
“Was he protecting me?” I whispered.
I leaned on the counter and felt a bit sad. Couldn’t he just say that? Why did he have to act like that and make me feel guilty in the end?
Shaking my head, I decided to just focus on Albert's condition first.
I poured warm water on the mug and added the potion Lucas gave me. Once it was fully mixed, I walked upstairs.
“Della, you’re back,” he said as soon as I opened the door of my room. He still looked very weak, but he didn't seem as addicted to heat. He even smiled at me.
I smiled and nodded.
“Yes, and I have a medicine for you that will surely work.” I came to his side and placed the mug on top of the bedside table.
Afterward, I helped him sit down and made him drink the medicine.
“Oh, damn. This is good…” He let out a sign of relief and smiled.
“Getting better?” I asked eagerly, observing him carefully with my eyes
“Yes, but I’m so tired.”
I laughed, “Okay, sleep it off,” I told him. The past few days, he barely could sleep because of the heat he was feeling. Now that he had the antidote and was feeling better, he should take a rest and recover.
Deciding on that, I covered him with a blanket and turned around. After closing the door, I stayed in the living room to rest on my own.
I was about to sleep when my phone vibrated. Looking at the screen, I saw Fae’s message. “I am here .Open the door.”
Standing up, I went to the door and opened the door. On cue, I was greeted by Fae who immediately jumped on me and wrapped her arms around my neck, embracing me tightly. So in response, I wrapped my arms around her waist and laughed.
“Yes, thank you very much. I am alright by the way and nice to see you too,” I sarcastically said, making her let go and look at me with a joking glare.
I told her to come in. Following her was a woman I never saw before. She looked a bit younger than me. Her skin was a bit darker than mine, her hair was shoulder-length, and her eyes were brown. She wasn’t fat but not petite either. The strange thing is, looking at her, I have a familiar feeling, as if I have seen her before.
When Fae noticed that I was looking at the woman who came along with her, she clapped her hand.
“Right!” She walked and went beside her, putting her arm on her shoulder. “This is Diana, she will be your new personal maid. She’s personally picked by Jackson, so be rest assured.”
I shook my head to get rid of the weird feeling and greeted her.“Nice to meet you, Diana. Feel at home.”
“Thank you, Prin–”
I immediately stopped her before she could finish. “Please, address me as Ms. Della or Della only.”
She nodded and repeated, “Thank you, Ms. Della.”
When I saw that she had a few pieces of luggage with her, I immediately instructed her, “Oh, right. Please make yourself at home. You can unpack first. The maid’s quarter is over there.” I pointed at the small room at the end, near the kitchen.
She thanked me again before grabbing all her things and going inside, leaving me and Fae alone.
“I missed you so much! How’s Albert? Should I go to your room? I want to talk and talk!”
I laughed at Fae’s activeness and shook my head. I sat on the couch, and replied, “He’s better. He already took the medicine and is sleeping now. We should stay here so we won’t disturb him.”
“Oh, that’s right.” She agreed without hesitation and sat beside me.
“So… any news? How’s your talk with the great wizard? Did you ask him about what I told you? How about the divorce? Is it going well? Will you be back soon? Oh, and what about–” she asked one after another, giving me no choice but to stop her.
“Calm down, Fae! I’m alone! Ask one after another.”
“Oh, sorry.”
We both laugh at her silliness.
“About my stay here… I don’t know how I will tell it to Jackson, but I’ll have to stay for another month,” I started.
Her eyes widened, and she asked, “What? Why? How did that happen?”
So I explained to her again everything that happened, “...so that’s what happened. I promised Kylian that I’ll do everything he wants if he let me see Lucas. And it’s part of the deal.”
Fae became serious and held my hand. Worry was evident in her eyes. “Will you be fine?”
I gave her a small smile. “Yes, I will be. Don’t worry.”
“But promise me. Don’t make the same mistake again,” she advised.
“Don’t worry, no matter what happened, I will surely divorce Kylian and end things with him,” I confidently said, reminded by the prophecy given to me by Lucas.
I’ll meet my fate mate soon, so there’s nothing for her to worry about anymore.
“You sounded so confident. Did he promise you already? For real this time?” she asked.
I shook my head and held onto the pendant again as if it became some sort of a habit whenever I was reminded of my conversation with Lucas.
“Lucas sees through my future. He said that I will meet my fated mate in less than three months and that I will be married to him. A marriage that will be envied by many.
“Oh my gosh!” she excitedly stood up and jumped around with pure happiness engraved on her face. She leaned down and held me on my shoulder, asking, “Who will it be? Who’s your fated mate?”
I smiled at her. She looked more excited. She’s really a great friend. She always hype me up.
“I don’t know. Lucas didn’t tell me. I guess it’s someone I haven’t met yet. Lucas said that if I will be willing, my fated mate will give me a happy marriage and a wonderful life.”
Fae smiled brightly and was about to shout again when we heard the sudden sound of a cup breaking.
I stood up in a hurry and looked at the direction of the sound together with Fae.
Looking back, we saw Albert. His face was pale, his eyes wide open, and he looked in our direction with a dull expression. His hands were still slightly trembling on his chest, and there were fragments of the glass at his feet.
Fae was speechless and surprised as I did, but she’s the first to recover. She let out an awkward smile, waved her hand like a silly girl, and greeted, “Hmmm...Hi, Albert?”
But Albert didn’t answer. He came back to his senses and turned to look at me. I don't know what he was thinking now.
How long was he awake and standing there? Did he hear everything?
