Chapter 78

Della’s POV

“Ms Della…”

Two women greeted me as soon as I went down the stairs. They were the two omegas that I discreetly and cautiously chose among many omegas from Dark Moon Pack.

As soon as I learned that I would leave with Kylian to find Lucas, I immediately took time to find someone who’ll take care of Albert while I was gone. They are the rare people here who still respect and believe in me, probably because I was once an omega like them.

After they bowed their heads in respect, I nodded my head.

Signaling to the room, I instructed, “Please help him out. Pat him with a towel soaked in cold water frequently to keep him cold and don’t touch him with your bare hands, that can only stimulate him and make it harder for him. Do you understand?”

“Yes, Luna De–”

“And address me normally,” I immediately interjected just as they were about to call me Luna.

I won’t be their Luna much longer so it's better that way.

They immediately shut up, looked at each other, and then back at me.

“Forgive us. We understand, Ms. Della.”

“Good, then I’ll leave now.”

After that, I grabbed my backpack from the nearby table, hung it on my shoulder, and went out to see Kylian outside.

However, as soon as I caught sight of him, I was frozen on my feet, completely dumbfounded by what I was seeing.

“What?” he asked.

I blinked a couple of times, ensuring that I wasn’t hallucinating.

Right in front of the guest house porch was Kylian, riding a horse.

He was wearing khaki breeches pants, tall boots, and a white collared shirt. His upper body was upright, and boy did he look so handsome right now. His hair was scissor fade cut and the top was intentionally messed up a bit. He looked hot!

If I weren’t angry at him, I would have swooned over.

Taking a deep breath, I composed myself.

I titled my head, looked up at him, and asked, “Why are you riding a horse? Where’s your car?” I even looked around to make a point as I saw one of his cars at the entrance of the pack house.

“Come here,” he said, signaling me to come over.

I narrowed my eyes, but did as he asked anyway. As I got closer, I was about to repeat my question when he suddenly held out a hand to me.

Looking at him weirdly, I said, “What will I do with that?”

Obviously annoyed, he leaned down that his head was only an inch from mine as he successfully grabbed my wrist hanging on my side. With a swift move, he turned me around and his arm wrapped around my waist, pulling me up on top of the horse and in front of the saddle he was sitting on.

“Oh my gosh!” I couldn’t help but squirm due to surprise. I immediately held on to the handle attached to the saddle and glared back at him.

“What the hell…”

He didn’t let me finish my words as his arms passed through either side of me to hold the reins with both hands, engulfing me in the process.

Damn it!

I cursed inwardly as my heart beat dramatically went wild.

‘Get a hold of yourself, Della!’ I scolded myself and secretly pinched my thighs.

“Let me off,” I angrily said as I pushed his left arm. I tried to jump out of the horse, because he was agile. He immediately held my waist with his right arm.

“Not so fast,” he commented before he wrapped his left arm around me tighter while his right hand held both reigns in his hand.

“Walk,” he commanded and the horse immediately walked, making my body involuntarily lean back to his muscular body.

“Wait,” I was about to protest more but he waved the reins and made another command to the horse, “Cluck cluck!”

Oh damn!

In a flash of light, the horse started to trot and the galloping movements involuntarily made my body bounce and pressed closer to Kylian’s body. I just closed my eyes, having no other choice but to hold tight on the saddle’s horn for my dear life.

Though we could run fast in our wolf form, it’s just so different right now. I mean, no wolf would get used to sitting on top of another creature and galloping around, right?

‘Damn, this asshole!’

“Hold tight if you don’t want to fall,” he threatened with his breath breathing against my ear. His head was now beside mine so he could see clearly on the road ahead. He did it on purpose, I could hear it in the joy in his voice.

I could feel his chest moving against my back together with the rhythm of the horse’s gallops. I mentally shook my head. “Get your head on the game, Della!”

“Hold on tight? Are you kidding me? Why don’t you stop this and let me get off instead?” I shouted as I leaned forward to the horse’s neck so our bodies won’t touch, but the bastard behind me pulled me closer to him in pretense that he’s pulling the reins.

He momentarily looked at me, making our faces centimeters apart. “Della, can you calm down? You’ll scare the horse. Do you want it to panic and throw it back?”

My eyes widened! “Can it do that?! How are you even training this horse?”

“Newsflash, a horse can feel what the rider is feeling. Calm down and trust him and so will he. Stop fussing or we might face an accident. Please, Della…” he almost begged in annoyance.

“Oh, so now it’s my fault if something bad happens to us? You should have just driven a car instead!”

“Do you think a car can make it here? We’re in a freaking mountain!” he reasoned out.

Well, it was true, but still! The horse was running way too fast for my own liking and I didn’t like how close I was with him right now.

“Are you mad? How dare you? I should be the one being made right now. You forced me to ride this horse,” I retorted. Well, if you couldn’t win in reason, throw the blame to him instead.

“You’re the one who wants to save that dog, right? Well, that savior of him lives up in the mountains. Should we go back instead?” he sarcastically said. Rather, he threatened. He knew I needed to meet Lucas.

I rolled my eyes. “What? You want to go back to Stella already?”

“Whoa, whoa, whoa!” he said as he pulled the reins toward his tighter, making the horse come to an instant halt.

He looked at me closer and narrowed his eyes with a smirk starting to form on his lips. “What, are you jealous?”

“I…” I faked a laugh. “Dream off! Why would I be? I am itching for you to sign that stupid divorce.”

Then, not being able to look at his teasing eyes any longer, I looked away from him, making him let out a small laugh.

“Cluck cluck!” he commanded and the horse trotted again.

“Don’t be, she already went back to Lock Heart Pack. She’s been called by her father for something.”

Was he explaining? Oh, come on, Della. Don’t get swayed!

With that, he made the horse run even faster, forcing me to give in and just hold on the saddle’s horn so tight all through the way.

“Whoa!”

The horse stopped at the foot of the highest part of the Arid Mountain where Wizard Lucas resides. The place was filled with enormous trees with only small gaps in between. The ground was uneven and filled with rocks of different shapes.

Not only was the road too complicated for a car to handle, but the paths were also too narrow to have it fit.

“Walk!” This time, the horse moved slower which was enough to keep me calm.

Now I understood why he didn’t drive a car instead.

I let out a sigh before sneering at him. “Why didn’t you tell me earlier?” I said, pointing at the road ahead.

“We could have run in our wolf form instead,” I said as a matter of fact. It's common sense, why didn’t he think of that? It would have been way more easier and comfortable.

Kylian looked at me with a dead eye as if I was forgetting about something, and should have known the answer to my own statement.

Sarcastically, he explained, “Well, I would have offered it if I don’t have multiple wounds right now and can actually shift to my wolf, now will I?”

That immediately made me shut up. How insensitive of me!

I forgot that he was still in recovery. I didn’t know exactly what happened to him or how worse his condition was, but based on that intense scent of blood I whiffed from him that night and the amount of blooded bandages I saw on his bedside, I think I could imagine enough.

I couldn’t help but feel guilty, and could only let the silence engulf us.

From here and forth, the horse ride became more calm. Though the road was rocking and narrow, the horse wasn’t trotting so it was more comfortable than earlier.

“Whoa!” The horse came to a stop as we reached the middle of the mountain.

Not too far, I saw a man standing in front of a cabin, waiting for us. He was wearing a huge ancient Roman-style robe where a mysterious circular rune was engraved right in the middle. His hair was permed and his eyes were a mesmerizing pair of green. He looked quite young and handsome, but I knew better. No one could probably tell what his real age was. It’s probably a mystery to everyone as it was to me.

“Alpha Kylian,” he greeted as he bowed very slightly as a mere sign of respect. Considering that he wasn’t a werewolf and he was a known wizard, he really didn’t need to, but he still did out of respect. After all, the Dark Moon Pack was his safe haven.

“Lucas,” Kylian replied before he got off the horse.

He then looked at me and gave me a hand, helping me to get off. Once I safely landed on the ground and gained my balance, Kylian went on and tied the reins of the horse on the nearby tree trunk.

Kylian patted the horse head with gentleness and said, “Behave.”

Afterward, he went back beside me, and we both faced Lucas.

Lucas looked at me momentarily and something flashed in his eyes, making me get nervous.

He then again bowed a little bit. “I have been waiting for you for a long time, my most distinguished guest.”

My eyes flickered. ‘What did he mean by that? Most distinguished guest? Did he know who I am?’

Many questions filled my mind. In the eyes of everyone, I was a mere omega despite my title as Luna, so I was rarely treated with respect inside the Dark Moon pack.

My eyes narrowed as I tried to read him, but he was way too mysterious and I could almost see nothing in his movements that would say anything.

On the other hand, I felt Kylian’s arm wrapped around my shoulder. He looked at me smugly and smirked. “Hear that? Right now, you are still a distinguished person. After all, you are my Luna. But if I sign that divorce agreement, you will be back to being a lowly omega again.”

What a fool he is. I rolled my eyes.

But he leaned closer. “If you want to maintain your noble status and power, stop going through with this divorce already. Don’t be stubborn. Prince Jackson won’t be as good as me to let an omega be his wife. Unless of course, you are his fated mate which is impossible.”

I sneered at that. His ego was indeed so high. I couldn't fathom how he could dare to say such a thing.

Irritably, I pushed his arm away and looked at him with my right hand on my hip.

“That’s no problem then. After all, I don’t care whether I’m of noble status or not.”

“Your only saying that bec–”

“Ehem!” Suddenly a fake cough took our attention. Both of us looked away from each other and glanced at the man who was standing in front of us.

Lucas was standing tall with his hands on his back and he was looking at us with that smile that I couldn’t understand the meeting. It’s so…mysterious, just like every inch of himself.

Lucas glanced at Kylian with a small smile, saying, “Della is noble in nature, even if she loses her title as your Luna, Alpha Kylian.”

My heart skipped a beat and I gulped. I doubted that he knew who I am.

“Omega is of no status, Lucas. How can you say she’ll remain noble?” Kylian asked arrogantly.

I stared at Lucas nervously. Lucas glanced at me as well and my breathing hitched.

He seemed better than anyone else. His demeanor and stand made it even seem that he feared no one, not even an Alpha like Kylian.

Then I remembered Fae’s words. Was Lucas' fortune-telling ability so powerful that he knew my identity so easily? Then will he know my future …

I didn’t want Kylian to know about it. I want my identity to remain hidden, because deep down, I fear what might happen once he learns the truth.

As a Lycan princess, I was more powerful and held a greater title. Would Kylian regret everything he did just because of that title and kneel in front of me? Would that make him follow her every word, and take care of me?

If that was to happen, I might give in and not want to have divorce anymore.

I didn’t want to think about any of that. I was already fed up.

I had suffered enough and didn’t want to go through those things anymore. That divorce was my ticket to freedom. I wanted a clean break which was why I was willing to do everything to convince Kylian to sign those papers.

And besides, I promised Jackson.

Lucas opened his mouth as if he wanted to say something amidst my rapid heartbeat, and I swallowed uncontrollably.
