Chapter 77

Della’s POV

I was silenced by Kylian’s message. I looked at it for a little more while as I let it sink into my mind.

The divorce agreement couldn’t be prolonged any longer. The threats I was receiving from Luke and Jackson were already suffocating, and time was running out of my hands.

“Is everything alright?” I was brought out of my daze when I heard Albert’s voice.

After blinking a couple of times, I let out a smile and shook my head before typing a reply, “Okay. Thank you.”

Desperates couldn’t be choosy.

As of the moment, I didn’t have any choice. Albert’s condition needed a solution and was far more important than the pressure I was receiving from my brother and Kylian’s father. After all, it’s just one more month. I couldn't handle it, right?

Right?

Daring to show Albert the dilemma I had fallen into, I hid my phone after replying and stood up.

“Fae texted. I’ll give her a call.”

“Alright.”

After that, I turned around and went outside, letting the fresh air hit my nostrils and relax me a bit.

With everything that happened these past few days, which were like roller coaster rides, I just needed to confide in someone to lessen the heaviness in my heart. And as of this moment, all I could think of was Fae.

She would listen well to me, and her reactions always made me at ease. Furthermore, when she’s fully serious, her advice and words help me a lot.

Looking through the series of numbers in the phonebook, I found Fae’s number and immediately dialed it. After a few rings, it was answered.

“Hey, my lovely friend, how are you?” She cheerfully greeted me.

“I have so many things to tell you…” I said and went on to update her about everything that happened, from when Albert came in until now.

“WWWWWWhat?” she shouted. I involuntarily closed my eyes and instinctively pulled my phone away from my ears.

Geez. She’s really something. I shook my head, and once I was sure that she had calmed down, I pulled my phone back to my ear and asked, “Are you calm now? You’re deafening.”

I heard her giggle a bit. “Oops, I’m sorry. I was just shocked.”

“Uh-huh.”

“But how dare that bitch! Nancy, is that what you said her name is?” she asked irritably, and I nodded in reply.

Realizing she couldn’t see me, I said, “Yes, that’s her.”

“Okay, let’s say she didn’t know you’re the Lycan Princess, but how dare she?! You’re still Luna. She must not treat you like that!” She started while I looked around.

Seeing the porch railing, I sat on it and held onto the post. I knew that I’d have to listen to her long venting of monologues before this could turn into an actual conversation.

“And what? That fucking bitch drugged Albert? The nerve! He’s an alpha heir. Does she have a death wish? If I am there, I will tear her apart until she’s out bleeding! She really didn’t know her place. I should go there and teach her a lesson!”

Laughing a bit, I said, “Now, no need to do that. I’ll handle it.”

“How’s Albert now, though? Will he be fine? What will you guys do about him? Will you be able to find a cure?” she asked one after another.

I took a deep breath and confessed, “I found a way. Kylian will let me meet the Dark Moon Pack’s greatest wizard, Lucas. We will meet in a week.”

“That’s great! I guess he still has a conscience!”

“About that… I… kind of sold myself to him for him to agree…”

She was silent for a while before I heard her say, “What? What did you say? I don’t think I heard it properly…”

“I had sex with him in exchange. It’s humiliating and insulting, but somehow… I still enjoyed it. It gave me pleasure. It’s ridiculous right?”

“You…” she started, but I immediately interjected, “I know, I know, it’s wrong. But I can’t do anything about it…”

I heard her heave a sigh. After a while, she spoke in a calmer and more serious tone. “Della, Kylian will only end up hurting you more and more. You know that, right? You should just end it as planned and leave that place.”

“I know… But I can’t do that yet. My agreement with Kylian was extended for another month.”

“Oh, that must have saddened Albert. I feel sorry for him…”

I laughed at that. “What are you talking about? Albert and I are just friends.”

She laughed even louder. “Oh, my dear Della. If you were here with me, I would really smack you in the head!”

“What?”

“Oh, come on! The entire world knows that Albert likes you! He’s just being too cautious and not confessing to you. Do you really think that an Alpha heir like him will volunteer to be your mere assistant just because?” she reasoned and my breathing instantly hitched.

Fae was thinking too much of it.

“You’re overthinking it, Fae. The current situation in Wakeland is more complicated than we anticipated. Albert just came to help me solve it and to help me improve my leadership and management skills. You shouldn’t be putting malice in my friendship with him, or he might start feeling uncomfortable,” I explained to her. Sometimes, she could just be too immense in romance.

I heard her sigh again in defeat. “Okay, oh, and by the way, Jackson will send another servant for you in a few days.”

I instantly smiled at that. “Jackson… Just Jackson…”

Now, it was my time to tease. “And how are you so updated about his actions?”

“I… We… I mean… Ughhh! We are talking about you, why did the topic turn to me?” she complained which made me laugh even more.

I’m sure that she was already turning red right now.

“Come on, I already told you everything. It’s your turn. How’s your progress with Jackson? By the sound of it, it’s going great.”

“I… Well, we’re spending more time together now. I mean, I am spending time with him rather. He’s too aloof to accept that he misses my gorgeous face.” She laughed a bit and continued, “I usually visit him in the kingdom and, you know, bother him as much as I can. He starts warming now, though. He’s no longer as aloof as before.”

“Oh! And oh my gosh!” She excitedly started.

Calling her was indeed a good decision. She’s a real breath of fresh air.

“What?” I asked.

“There was this one time. He got irritated with me because, well, you know me. Anyway, I gave him a silent treatment, and oh my gosh! You’re a workaholic of a brother who stopped what he was doing after a while and irritably pulled me out of his office to have lunch with me at a fine restaurant! Can you believe that?”

My eyes widened in shock at that, and butterflies formed in my stomach.

“What? So… did he say he likes you or something? Or did he just apologize?” I asked.

“Well, none of those. He said he can’t work if I stay in his office with a sulky attitude and such so he brought me out to keep me out of his back.”

“Oh, what a lame excuse! He wants to cheer you up!” I added fuel to her burning flame.

“I know, right!”

We both laughed after that. With Fae’s persistence, I knew she would be able to thaw my brother’s heart sooner or later. And for all I know, he likes her as well. He just didn’t know it yet. He’s in huge denial.

“Anyway, back to you. You said something about Wizard Lucas?”

I nodded. “Yes, you know him?”

“Lucas is a very powerful wizard! He’s known to master the spells of divination! You can even ask him if Albert loves you or not, or how your romantic relationship will, and he can accurately answer it! He’s a well-known wizard!”

“I don’t know… Why would I even ask that?” I laugh.

“You should! Just try it!” she insisted.

“Whatever. Anyway, I have to go now. I still need to check on Albert. Thank you so much Fae, you lessened my heart’s burden.”

“Now, that’s what friends are for, right?”

After that, we ended the call and I went back in with a better mood.

Days passed and Albert’s condition became worse. I would even help him drench in an ice bath just to help him cool down a bit but it wasn’t much of a help either. His penis might be erect for more than 15 hours a day, which was too torture for him.

“Finally!” I exclaimed as I looked at the date on my phone. A week had passed and it’s already the day Kylian had promised. I’ll meet Lucas this time.

Before dawn, I changed into denim pants, white shirt, and a leather jacket. I paired it with combat boots and tied my hair in a ponytail.

Once I was fully prepared, I went downstairs where Kylian was waiting for me.
