Chapter 68
2013words
To say I wasn’t surprised to see who just came into my room would be a lie.
Right in front of me was Luke, Kylian’s father. He was standing tall with a majestic demeanor surrounding him. His dominating characteristic was just overflowing. One look and anyone could see how strict of a man he was.
I thought that would be the end of it, but when he looked back, five warriors suddenly entered my room. Two stood at either side of Luke, one was at the door, and the other two were a few steps away from either side of me.
I could see the glance he gave to Albert who just ended his call with Jackson. Fearing that one thing could lead to another, I shifted my gaze to Albert and said, “Albert, may you give us a moment, please?”
He pocketed his phone and intently looked at me. “I’ll stay at the side. Don’t worry, I won’t bother you.”
I closed my eyes, knowing that it would trigger Luke.
As if on cue, a mocking laugh echoed in the room. “What? Are you her watch dog? I wasn’t informed that the heir of River Ash Pack had stomped so low to serve a mere omega.”
Albert clenched his jaw and took a step forward to confront Luke but I immediately stepped ahead and blocked his path.
“You can stay outside first. Don’t worry, I’ll be fine.” I stared into his eyes and held his arm firmly to show him that I was sure of what I’m saying.
“Are you really sure?” he asked with worry laced in his voice.
Smiling, I nodded and replied, “Of course. Thank you. Don’r forget who I am.”
“I’ll leave you both first. I’ll just be outside the door,” he uttered with respect. Walking to the door, he stopped midway to give a restrained bow in front of Luke as a sign of respect before finally leaving the room.
I couldn’t be more glad that he restrained himself as we didn’t have any authority in this place.
Once Albert left and closed the door, I looked around at the warriors Luke had brought, and I must admit they put some pressure on me. Lycan is not meant to be invincible.
I took a deep breath and made myself look relaxed. “What do I owe you for this visit?”
Signaling to the men around us, I raised my eyebrows and asked, “Why did you bring so many men here? A room of a harmless omega?”
“Harmless?” Luke let out a sarcastic laugh before he menacingly smirked and took a threatening step forward toward me. “You are far from harmless. A viscous and insolent omega like you are more of a rogue than anyone I know. I still remember how you dared to attack me before. Even if I don’t know how you do it, I know that you are one dangerous omega.”
This time, I was the one sneering. “Insolent? Isn't it because you be pertaining to yourself that you are being attacked?”
“What?”
“You’re the one who’s forgetting who you are. You might have been an alpha before, but it’s Kylian’s reign right now. You… You’re nothing but a glimpse of the past. I only stopped you from trying to kill your son - the Alpha of Dark Moon Pack.” I was radiating with anger that I couldn’t help myself from speaking with dominance.
I still remembered that when I arrived that time, Kylian was lying on the ground covered in blood. He almost died!
Just remembering how he wasn’t holding back and really going to kill Kylian back then still made my blood boil. He was out of line. In fact, he should be punished for what he had done.
If Kylian wasn’t respecting him as his father and former alpha, he would have been able to kill him and not let him harm him that much. He would have imprisoned him. But instead, he just let him be.
Luke shook his head in dismay as he tried to restrain his obvious radiating anger.
I narrowed my eyes at him, waiting for what he would do next. He once again took a few steps toward me, but of course still guarded by his warriors.
What a coward.
He stopped a few feet from me and said, “I always thought that you would be an obedient Luna. Despite being an omega, you used to be so… tamed. You were polite and dignified that I accepted you. But you just have to show your true colors, don’t you? I guess Flora would have been a better Luna after all. Nothing beats a fated mate.”
I wanted to laugh. I had been ignored, insulted, and stomped on while being here. Did he really think that his mere thoughts could crumple me? Not a chance.
Never did I look away from him nor show any sign of being fazed.
“So, you wanted a puppet Luna for your son? A Luna who will just let you kill her Alpha? Her mate? Is that what you’re saying?” I asked one after another.
Letting out an exaggerated laugh, I added, “You wanted to reign, but it’s over, Luke. I did nothing wrong back then and I’ll never regret it. If you weren’t his father, you would’ve died then. He was restraining himself so he couldn’t hurt you.”
Taking another step so we would just be a few inches apart, I finished, “You are nothing but a traitor trying to kill my Alpha back then. What I did even deserves a reward.”
“Insolent bitch!”
And that made every restraint he had come loose. He was shaking with anger and raised his hand. He wanted to strike me, but he knew better.
He started phasing, and suddenly knocked over everything that was on my table that breakable ornaments in there shattered and scattered on the floor.
Luke pointed a finger at my face. “You are just a lowly omega. You can’t understand it because you don’t know any better. Everything I did and I am doing are all for Kylian - for him to be a good alpha for the Dark Moon Pack!”
I bitterly smiled at that. “A good alpha… Is that all you know?”
“How about a father? Have you ever been one to him? To your son? Have you ever hugged Kylian and cared for him? What exactly have you done for your son as a father?”
By this time, I wanted to cry, but I couldn’t. Just thinking of all the pain that Kylian felt while growing up shattered my heart to pieces like those debris scattered on my floor.
I picked up a ball from the ground and played with it a little. “Have you ever played with him?” Then, I shifted my gaze from the ball and onto him. “Have you shared good times with him? Do you laugh and joke with each other?”
Luke was frozen in his place as he should be.
Anger rose in me and without much thought, I threw the ball at his chest.
“No! You never did anything as a father! You even threw away his most precious toy that his grandfather left for him! You hurt him every step of the way as he grew up. He was just three years old and you treated him like a soldier, forcing him to be an emotionless and ruthless person.” I shouted at him and took a step forward.
I pushed his chest with my index finger and emphasized, “You killed who he was for your own reputation! You are no father!”
After I finished those words, realization immediately struck me as if a bucket of cold water was thrown at me, waking me up.
Power…
What hadn’t I thought of that?
I couldn’t help but laugh as agony crushed through me.
“Everyday, he has to contemplate and redirect his choices just so you can be proud of him… just so he can meet your sky-high expectations…” I whispered in pain.
Flora… She was someone who could make Kylian powerful and push that bar high. With her, Kylian can meet his father’s expectations…
Now I suddenly understand him. He chose Flora not only because of the mate bond. It’s because he needed the power. He probably hated his father for not loving him, but because of that, he still quenched for that.
Deep down, he still wanted to satisfy him and make Luke accept him. For his father… he needed to be stronger and nothing more matters… Perhaps…not even love…
I saw how he clenched his fist at his side. Obviously, I hit a button.
“You are in no position to speak to me like that. You are nothing but a worthless omega. If it weren't for my son, you won’t even be where you are. You don’t fit him, Della. Do not pester him anymore. Just divorce him and leave this place. You don’t belong here.”
“And what kind of woman was he worthy of? Someone like Stella right? Because she can give you the power you want! Let me tell you something though, I wanted to sign that divorce paper a long time ago, but your son won’t do the same. It’s not me you should be talking too,” I said and sat down on my bed.
Divorce… Once it got signed, what happened then?
Suddenly, images of Stella and Kylian being together flashed in my mind… For some reason, my heart turned sour and I couldn’t help but be jealous of Stella.
“Bitch!” he cursed and I saw how he raised his hand. He wanted to slap me.
Without fear, I stood up and threw a menacing glare at him.
‘Try it… and let’s see what will happen,’ I thought to myself. If he does, I'll show him the power of a Lycan. I'm ready for anything that was about to come.
However, midway through the air, his hand stopped.
He grunted and looked at his men behind him. He signaled with his head and ordered, “Restrain her!”
Coward! I couldn't believe that he would actually ask someone to restrain me after he just numerously instituted that I am a lowly omega. He couldn’t be any more pathetic.
The five guards started approaching me but before they could touch me, one of them spoke, “Alpha promised Prince Jackson that he will take good care of her. I’m worried that we will be punished if she get injured while in here.”
Luke immediately raised his hand and told other men to stop where they were.
“You are indeed a slut! I admire you, alright! You are even able to seduce Kylian, Albert, and Prince Jackson when none of them were your mates… Mark my words, Della. End it with my son!”
I crossed my arms over my chest. “Like I said, you are barking at the wrong tree.”
“Whether what you’re saying is true or not, I’ll verify it myself.”
“Oh, please do so…” I smirked at him, showing him how confident I was on that matter.
After that, he brought his men out of my room and completely left me alone. Once the door closed after them I was only able to breathe a sigh of relief.
Those five guards were the top warriors of the Dark Moon Pack and Luke himself was a prior alpha. If they were to attack me all at once, I wouldn’t be able to win easily, especially now that I wasn't training here.
But as soon as I felt relieved, I was reminded of Luke’s last words. He would confirm it to Kylian.
I immediately grabbed my phone and held it tight while looking at Kylian’s phone number.
“Will he be fine?” I whispered in worry.
Luke almost killed Kylian before because of anger… I worry what he might do this time around.
Shaking my head, I woke myself up from my unneeded worry. “What am I thinking ?Kylian will most likely agree with Luke and sign our divorce. He’ll be fine…”
