"I'll have a Spanish latte with an extra shot of espresso," I told the server.
Since Stella took the initiative to invite me for a meet-up, who am I to decline? After all, it would be a good opportunity for me to know more about her and what she might be up to.
So, here we were, in MoonDrip Café. It was a famous café for elite werewolves. The entire café was situated in the middle of the forest, and the café itself looked like a cabin while there were tables placed on the forest as well.
It was a relaxing place to be in as the scent of nature engulfed the customers.
"I'll have Long Macchiato," Stella, who was sitting opposite me, said to the server.
After repeating our orders, the server left.
I looked at her from head to toe and couldn't help but be more irritated.
Clearly, even her clothing shouted her intention.
She's wearing a deep neckline red blouse paired with black skinny leather jeans and high boots.
Her hair was styled in big waves and her makeup was sharp and yet seductive.
Indeed, she's beautiful, and the way she dressed herself made her even more attractive and sexy in such a way that still looked decent.
Swallowing my surging impatience, I broke the silence. "So… we're here because…"
Stella waved her hands casually. "Oh, I just wanted to hang out for a while."
"This place you chose is incredible! You are indeed Jackson's sister, aren't you? You both have great taste," she said while looking around with great interest as if she's some kind of a tourist who's simply enjoying the view.
The topic she talked about didn't interest me, and I didn't want to play the game of pretending to be friends with her here, so I answered perfunctorily.
"It is, isn't it? I found this place years ago. It's a great place to relax. And they serve fantastic coffees."
I only nodded, then wanted to bring the topic back to just now, "The photo you sent me..."
But my words were interrupted by her again, "I'm liking this place and this pack."
"Yes, me too," I had no choice but to continue trying to change the subject, "You know..."
Stella interupted with a huge smile. "Yes! The garden for one is so beautiful… And don't even mention the forest around it! It's so perfect. I can even say that it's better than my pack. It's well preserved. The maintainer of this pack's ground surely have a green thumb. One more thing, have you seen the–"
Before she could finish her words, I finally lose it.
I raised my hand to stop her, and directly asked, "No more small talk. Did my brother send you here to seduce Kylian?"
I had my doubts, but I wanted to be sure.
I knew Jackson being too calm about what he heard over that call was too good to be true. He wasn't someone who'll just stand down because of my lame excuse.
Besides, it's too coincidental.
How come Stella just popped out of nowhere after that day?
"What?" Stella's eyes widened as shock and confusion filled her face. "What do you mean?"
"I mean exactly what I said. Is that why you're here? Did Jackson asked you?"
I got no time to play games with her anymore. I tried but my patience just ain't buying it.
I just had to ask and get the answer this moment. I looked at her with determination and firmness, hoping that she'll spill the beans.
However, to my surprise, she suddenly laugh out loud.
"Oh my! What are you talking about? As if Jackson had that kind of power over me."
Raising my eyebrow, I asked, "Then what do you want? Why are you here?"
"I heard that Alpha Kylian is getting a divorce so I came here to pursue him. I mean who wouldn't like him? Girls flocked around him, but unlike any other girls, I got what it takes to actually get close to him and pursue him."
What she said was true. There's indeed a lot of women wanting him, but not all of them could love him for who he was as all they're attracted to was what he was - a powerful alpha.
"So, you really like him? Is that what you're saying?" I asked.
Without hesitation, she replied, "Yes"
"Kylian is a powerful alpha, fear by many. But beyond that is a kind hearted person. He even bothered to personally cook for me because I'm hungry. He wasn't boastful and accepted me to his pack, accompanying me with patience and he's so welcoming. What's there not to like?"
Her eyes was even sparkling while she was speaking. It seemed so… sincere. And I hate it!
Keeping my composure, I looked at her and decided that I'll give her of some piece advice. I was still not sure of her real intentions, but it's all just too much of a coincidence.
After taking a sip of coffee, I placed it down on the table, and leaned back on my chair. "Kylian already found his fated mate. Her name's Flora. And…"
I wasn't even finished yet when Stella raised her arm and showed me her palm to stop me from going on.
She let out a confident smile, and said, "I have many reasons why she won't stand a chance with me even if she's the so-called fated mate. One, I'm more charming than her…"
Stella even fluttered her eyelashes and angle herself to make a point.
Then she continued, "Two, Lock Heart Pack and Dark Moon Pack had been allies for many years. If Kylian marries me, he'll be more powerful. He'll benefit greatly from our union. And above all reason…"
Stella leaned on the table and looked me straight in the eyes as she continued.
"Kylian loves me already. I mean, what can beat true love?"
That made one freeze. Her first two reasons were debatable… but the last one… Flashbacks of scenes I saw yesterday flashed before me and I couldn't help but have second doubts that she might be right.
I couldn't deny that Kylian was treating her differently among women who used to fluck on him. Subconsciously, my hand formed into a fist under the table.
I couldn't lose to her. No… I won't let that happen.
Giving way to Flora because she's his fated mate was one thing, but losing to Stella who's the same as me… I would never let that happen.
As if to add more fuel on my burning heart, Stella added cheerfully, "I want you and Kylian to officially get divorce. As soon as possible."
Narrowing my eyes, I replied, "Kylian won't agree to that."
Not bothered by my reply, Stella shrugged her shoulders and let out a small smile. "He only disagreed because you're not persistent enough. He got used to you. After all, you've been married for years. I think it's more of a habit than an actual love…"
I clenched my jaw. I knew what she's doing. She's provoking me. But I knew Kylian…through my suffering past three years.
"Kylian is not someone to change his mind that easily. He just doesn't fall in love like that, especially when it's not his fated mate," I explained with as much confidence as I could muster, trying not to think about Flora and my painful experiences.
"Is that so?" With a calm expression, Stella spoke with determination, "Then I'll show you. Your failure is because you are uncharismatic, not matebond irresistible."
I wouldn't lie. That got me nervous. She sounded so confident which made me worry. What if he really chose Stella? What if he really loves her already like she said? What if…
Many thoughts ran to my head at this moment.
After that, we both played the game of pretense. We continued talking with fake interest and calmness as we finished our drinks.
After getting back, I sat on my bed. I never felt so exhausted over a cup of coffee.
After a sigh, I took my phone and looked at it for a while.
"Jackson…" I whispered as I analyzed everything.
I wanted to call him and see if he was the one who arranged for Stella to come here. I really had the gut feeling that it was all his plan.
But what if it really isn't? Then I'm just making a fool of myself.
"Ah! But you won't tell me the truth even if I ask. Now, would you?" I look crazy as I stared at his phone number with his name on my phone screen, talking to it as if it was him.
Suddenly, my phone rang which jolted me back to sanity.
It's Albert.
"Hey, how are you?" he asked as soon as I answered the call, and that made me smile.
"I'm good. I should be the one asking that though," I said, pertaining to his injuries.
I heard his small chuckle followed by his answer, "Don't worry about it. It's nothing serious. I'm fine now."
After much hesitation, I finally asked what's bothering me. "Listen… I… I want to ask you something…"
"What is it?"
"Did Jackson send Stella here? The timing is all just too coincidental…"
After a few seconds of silence, he replied, "No. I don't think he did. Why?"
"It's just…"
Not even finished, he asked me, "Hey, Della… Are you really determined to divorce Kylian?"
That question stopped me from continuing.
Am I?
After a while, I took a deep breath and replied, "Yes."
"Then whether Stella was sent by Jackson or not, it has nothing to do with you, right?" he reminded me.
His words were like an eye opener to me. It reminded me what I was here for.
Right, no matter what Kylian's relationship with Stella was, it had nothing to do with me.
I was here for only one thing, and that's to divorce Kylian. Nothing more, nothing less.
"I had to go. Bye, Albert.And...thank you." I hastily turned off the call and threw my phone at the side before I slammed myself down on bed.
"Right… it has nothing to do with me…" I whispered. Their relationship no longer had anything to do with me…
Somehow, that truth tinged a pain in my heart.
I was loss in my own thoughts, and staring at the ceiling when I felt something being harshly thrown beside me on the bed.
Standing up, I look at a dress that Nancy placed on the bed. She had a stern look on her face as she informed me, "Our pack will hold a dance party. I don't want to, but Alpha ordered me to send that for you. I really don't know what qualifications you have to attend our party."
I ignored her attitude, opened that package and found it was pretty much my favorite dress.
