Chapter 29

Kylian's POV

My heart was trembling with rage and humiliation as I exited the Lupercalia with Flora in my arms and warriors escorting me to the sides.

I, an Alpha – a powerful Alpha feared by many was actually being exiled out of a party like a piece of shit.

Veins in my arms and neck were popping in inexplainable fury while I walked away from the crowd who was openly gossiping about my life's affairs.

This festival had been held for years, and since I became an Alpha, this was by far the worst thing I've experienced.

As one of the youngest Alphas in the Kingdom, many eyes were always on my path, observing my every move and decision, ready to push me into a pit at every chance they got. For years, I disappointed them as I proved my capability, but today… they all witnessed my own Luna asking for a divorce.

Once we were out of the vicinity and arrived at the waiting area for the valet, I put Flora back to her feet and frustratedly looked back at the huge mansion where Della was still.

"Della, how can you change so much?" I solemnly thought while feeling an invisible string tugging at my chest.

It had only been a while, and Della had already drastically changed. She used to be a considerate and thoughtful woman who would never go against my will. She was a perfect wife who made everything more manageable for me. But now…

I furrowed my brows in deep confusion.

Seeing the lights on the mansion and hearing the sound of the party going, I came to a conclusion. It's the prince! It must be Jackson stirring Della into the wrong path!

My hands tightened into a fist while I sent a deadly glare in the party's direction, hoping my rage would reach Jackson somehow.

"Kylian…" I heard a soft voice call my name, followed by a soft tugging on my arm.

Looking down, I found Flora tugging at my sleeve and looking up at me with pouted lips and glistening eyes. "Why did you leave the party?"

Confusion rushed over me.

One, we were escorted out of the party. But shouldn't she already be aware of why I let that happen and didn't fight further back?

I stared at her face and couldn't help but compare her appearance to Della's. Everything about her was far inferior to Della's—the looks, the attitude, and the character.

"Kylian…" she called out again, my wolf growled and I couldn't help but get drawn at her.

Indeed, she's inferior to the woman I love in every possible way, and yet that scent she exuded was so intoxicating and blinding that every reason in me was being defeated in the blink of an eye.

I was so drawn to the effects of that scent and the mate bond that I forgot what's really important – who's really important… Della.

If Della hadn't gone and pushed through the filing of divorce, I would never have realized how wrong I was these past few days.

"I wouldn't love anyone else. I won't exchange you for anything or anyone."

That promise I told her was still engraved in my heart, and I still planned to walk through it.

My love for her was so great that I couldn't betray her even if I wanted to. No! I couldn't lose her!

Looking down at Flora, I pushed her hand away from me and took a step back.

She's the reason why things went as far as they are now. That's right! That's what I should do!

As long as I stay away from Flora, I won't be affected by that stupid mate bond, and my judgment won't be clouded!

Hope rose in my heart as I found a way to keep my true desires on the surface. I could show my love for Della again.

"What I do is no longer your business. I've already decided to leave you, and I'll see through to it."

Della’s words were still ringing in my head over and over again, and each time it rang was like a sharp blade ruthlessly striking my heart, letting it bleed endlessly. I unconsciously pushed Flora away from me.

"I… What…" Flora looked up at me with tears in her eyes as if I hurt her terribly.

Frowning, I looked down at Flora with tears on her face, and asked in a cold voice, "Didn't you say you were not feeling well earlier? Why did you go and attend the festival then?"

A hint of suspiciousness and blame were evident in my voice. This time, I didn't put more effort into hiding it.

Guilt flashed across Flora’s hazelnut eyes as her hands trembled. She lifted them up and wrapped them around my neck. Sobbing, she asked, "Are you angry at me about what happened today?"

Her voice was small and shaking. She looked at me with apologetic eyes, and a frown formed on her glossy, voluptuous pink lips.

I kept quiet for a while, controlling my emotions and animal instinct, before I asked, "Do you have anything to explain or confess to me?"

I want to have some things of her own accord.

Narrowing my eyes, I waited for her to speak, but her eyes only widened in shock.

After blinking for a while, Flora finally let out another sob. Her hands tightened in my nape as she pulled herself closer to my body. "I don't know what you're talking about, Kylian. I've always been honest with you."

"Have you?" I asked silently while staring into her eyes, hoping I'd see some answer in it.

Unlike before, I didn't hold her back. My arms kept hanging on the side as I contemplated and tried to make sense of everything.

I found it strange. I found her strange. Very strange… Since I've confirmed that she's my fated mate, I've always protected her with all my means, feeling that she's that fragile and so easily bullied.

The best part is that Margot and Natasha liked her, and she also accompanied me with kindness and gentleness.

I thought everything was going so well… That was until the events recently came one after another, making me realize that this woman in front of me who seemed so fragile and vulnerable wasn't who I imagined she was to be.

Taking a deep breath, I grabbed Flora’s hands and pulled her away from me in a gentle manner.

Indeed, like Della had said, she – my wife and Luna – had been greatly wronged by Flora in so many ways than one could count.

And all this was because of my acquiescence and foolishness.

As that realization hit me, my chest heaved with great heaviness, and my shoulders slumped in defeat. I felt heartbroken more than I ever felt before.

After taking a deep breath, I clenched my fist and heaved a sigh of determination.

No matter what it cost, I'd win Della back. I'd do anything, including leaving Flora, to appease her.

"I'd never let you escape from me, Della!" I vowed silently as I looked back to where the festival was being held.

After that, I grabbed Flora's wrist and pulled her with me.

"W-Where are you taking me?" she asked, a hint of panic radiating in her voice.

Glimpsing at her with a dimmed face, I replied, "In a very good place."

Henry came out of the car and momentarily glanced at Flora before he opened the car door and told me, "Everything you've requested has been prepared Alpha."

Hopefulness filled Flora's eyes. "Are you planning to propose to me? Is that it? I'm so excited! This is the first time I'll ever attend such a big event as your family member!"

She almost jumped out of joy from her baseless assumption.

But while she rejoiced, I felt the complete opposite. The acceleration of her delight made my emotions darker, and I felt more frustrated listening to her non-scenes.

Couldn't listen to her further, I carried her and pushed her inside the car before I followed suit.

"Alpha." Henry handed me a file before he started the car.

As soon as the car drove away, I mercilessly threw the document at Flora's face before irritably asking, "What's going on?"

Her face scrunched in confusion as she cautiously opened the medical report. Her eyes traveled on its content before she went into total panic.

She pushed it down and shouted, "This is fake!"

Looking at me with wide and shaking eyes, she went on and blamed, "Della probably hired someone to slander me!"

I sneered as soon as I heard that. Nodding at Henry, I replied, "This report is found by Henry himself from the Pack Hospital!"

Grabbing her wrists tightly, I pulled her close to me, and with her face an inch apart from mine, I continued with gritted teeth, "There's no way this is fake! Why did you lie to me?"

"I…" She squirmed in pain, trying to pull her hands from my hold, but that made me tighten it even more.

"If it weren't for your deception! If it weren't for this fake child! I wouldn't have hurt Della this much!" All the control I was holding on to before as an excuse not to stress a pregnant woman was now all gone.

Dumbfounded, Flora stared at me for a few seconds, chest heaving heavily before she broke down and cried hard. "All of this is for you, Kylian!"

She stared at me, chin trembling as she sobbed. "I was so afraid Della would take you away from me, and it would break our mate bond, which would make you weaker as a wolf."

"I didn't do anything wrong. It's her fault for taking my fated mate. For taking you. She's a selfish and vicious mistress!" She looked down and cried, but she failed to hide the anger in her voice.

My hands automatically loose from her as if I was burnt, and I looked at her with disgust.

Just in time, the car stopped to the side.

Looking through the window, we saw that we were in a suburb that was not part of the Dark Moon Pack territory.

Looking straight, with eyes full of sadness and a face dimmed with rage and disgust, I said, "My Luna is not a liar, and she'll never be one. Della will be my one and only."

"As for you…" I looked back at her with a sharp gaze. "You'll pay the price for your deception."

"W-what… What do you mean? Where are we?" She asked in a panic, looking to her right and left.

"From now on, you're banished from the Dark Moon Pack."
