Chapter 3

I hit play on my phone. The sounds of him and Sophia Bailey's intimate encounter filled the living room.

Gregory's face drained of color. Shame and guilt kept his eyes from meeting mine.

"Baby, let me explain—" He lunged forward, grabbing me just like after our previous fights. He buried his face in my neck, kissing and nuzzling while the excuses tumbled out: "She came onto me! You're always so busy, I was lonely... I was drunk, and she showed up... She looks just like you..."

Even with the evidence playing, Gregory still thought he could have it both ways. I shoved him back and slapped him hard across the face. "You disgust me."

He grabbed me again, trying to silence me with kisses—his go-to move that had always worked before.

He'd forced kisses on me in public during his pursuit, and whenever we fought, he'd use the same physical dominance to make me surrender.

After seeing Gregory's true colors, I'd deliberately brought him around Sophia, hoping she'd hurry up and "steal" this piece of garbage.

"Get out! Don't touch me!" I broke free and backed behind the dining table. "We're done."

"Break up?" he snarled. "We're meeting my parents tomorrow! I paid for those gifts! Give me my money back!"

Typical.

I glanced at the pile of cheap health supplements and fake jade bracelets. When I'd suggested buying something nicer, he'd refused, claiming his parents "were used to these things." A man this stingy with his own parents was garbage through and through. And at the first mention of breaking up, his mind went straight to money.
