He checked his phone, a smug smile forming on his lips—only to freeze when my words registered.
"You're dumping me?" He sneered. "Everyone knows we're getting married. Who's going to want you after this? Found someone else already?"
"Didn't you find someone else first?" I laughed coldly. "My sister Sophia Bailey—ring a bell? I have nothing to do with the Baileys anymore. What could you possibly gain from marrying me? Marry her instead—my parents' precious pearl. You won't be short on dowry."
*SLAP!* His hand struck my face, rage and humiliation burning in his eyes. "What do you take me for?"
"What do I take you for?" I touched my cheek, smiling. "Leave now, and you're just an ex. Stay longer, and you're nothing but a stray dog. If you hurry to Sophia for comfort, you might still end up as my brother-in-law."
Gregory's face turned ashen. He stormed into the bedroom to pack.
This apartment was the last thing my father gave me when I left the Bailey family. Sophia didn't take it only because she thought it was too small and poorly located. The properties my father gave her, plus what she stole from me, were too numerous to count.
Gregory had only moved in recently, yet while packing, he insisted on taking even the toothpaste.
"I bought these kitchen utensils for you to use, so they're mine!"
"I'll graciously leave you our couple mugs as a memento!"
I stood with folded arms, watching coldly as he swept away most of my household items.
Let him take it all. Sophia loves to grab things, Gregory loves to take advantage—they're perfect for each other.
"Brooke Bailey!" He stood in the doorway, surrounded by bags, his expression both comical and tragic. "Don't you dare regret this! Even if you beg me to come back, I absolutely won't—"
*SLAM!*
I slammed the door in his face and locked it.
So much drama just to break up. If I don't hurry, Sophia will get impatient.
