"Listen to my voice. Do you feel my pain?" I started my song. My lips curved into a smile when I saw Damon looking at me with a huge smile plastered on his face. He looks so proud of me.
"Just like the darkness of the night. You took my heart away," I sang.
I don't need music to sing this song of mine. I'm going to sing my heart out until I'm fully contented. I've been wanting to do this for so long. I can't believe that I'm doing it now. I've always thought that my voice sucks and no one will even pay attention to my voice.
But here I am, sitting on a rock. Surrounded by fishes and mermaids. Damon? He's on the audience too. Looking so in love with me. Hehehe.
"Gather my strength. To tell you the truth. That in my heart you're the one," I sang again using my vibrato. I smiled when I finished my song successfully. I wasn't expecting a hand from them for their fishes and technically, they don't have hands but a handful of applause still greets my ears.
"Thank you!" I said cheerfully. My smile became bigger when I saw Linda. She's the reason why I'm actually in here.
The fishes starts to leave as I made my way down. Linda swims towards us. I welcomed her with a smile.
"Your voice good. Very beautiful like you," she complimented making my cheeks turned pink. A praise from a mermaid hits hard y'all.
"Thank you. Actually, we're here to ask you something again," I started. Damon squeezed my hand gently. I lifted my head to look at him. His pupils are fully dilated. Did I just make him fall in love with me again?
"Again?" she repeated.
"Yes." I heaved a sigh as I scanned the place before opening my mouth to speak. "Do you happen to see Fiscio? We've been looking but we can't seem to find her anywhere," I said in a helpless tone.
"You asked right mermaid." She smiled. "Linda see Fiscio there," she said and pointed a small boat floating alone in the river. Since when did a boat float there? Who's boat is that?
"Oh! Thank you," I chirped. She just smiled at me in a flirtational way.
"Grrr," Damon snarled and pulled me closer to him. I chuckled amusedly and squeezed his hand. Seriously? He's jealous in a mermaid. Linda's like a sister to me. I didn't waste any time and grab him to the opposite side of the shore.
"We should get going now," I told him. I waved goodbye to Linda. She's so sweet.
"Do you like her?" he asked in a serious tone. I stared at him with my round eyes. Is he serious right now?
"Are you jealous?" I said.
"I asked first," he answered impatiently. Damon's face is so red right now. He looks so freaking annoyed about something that I don't know. Linda's literally like a sister to me. Just like how I treat Elaine. Here we go again with his dragon traits.
"Yah! Let's talk about it some other time. We need to find Fiscio first," I said and smiled sweetly at him. I was caught off guard when he stole a kiss from me. It was just a quick and sweet peck on the lips.
"Hey!" I scolded but he just smirked at me.
Okay big guy. I'll let you pass this time because we're in a hurry.
We swim across the river. My smile faded when I saw the boat. It looked okay from a far but it's actually destroyed if you'll take a closer look. It looked wrecked and ruined. Like someone have smashed it intentionally.
"Is this normal?" I whispered to him. I looked at his astounded face. He's not expecting this too.
Did Fiscio do this?
"Let's just find Fiscio," he answered and guided me. I followed his every swim. One flip of a broken wood and we saw Fiscio laying in there and sleeping.
"It's here," Damon said. He brought me to a nearby coral. He put my palm on there and a strong light flashes before our eyes.
The moment I opened my eyes, Damon let go of my hand. I immediately study the place. This is the same enchanting place that we saw when we first met Fiscio.
Speaking of, she's on the clam. Sitting like a madame and waiting for us.
"Almost late," she stated. We bowed our heads. Her tone sounds so intimidating tonight. What's with her?
"I'm most disappointed to you, Golden." My body flinches from the sudden announcement. I glanced at Damon who looks astounded from the sudden change in whiff of air.
"Pardon?" I responded uncertainly.
I winced when she suddenly teleported in front of me. "You have a handsome parsen but you still failed to recognize him?" she slurs. My lips parted. How did she know that?
"I was watching the two of you young woman. And it upsets me that you don't know your parsen fully. You were fooled and if it weren't for his smart thinking of using the know, you two would have failed this mission," she says and raised an eyebrow.
I tried to open my mouth and speak to defend myself but no words came out.
I'm voiceless.
"This quest is not about meeting the time frame. It's about your connections as parsens. Grustova gave you tons of red flags. You didn't noticed it?" she asked and looked at me using her intimidating eyes.
"I did-"
"And yet what?" she cut me off. "You ignored it. You ignored your instinct. Both of you would have lost this quest. This is just a trial. We're not even starting yet. Both of you would have get killed. Is that what you want?" she yells.
My knees start to weakens.
She's right. Fiscio is right. We're not even starting and yet I'm already messing things up. I should have trusted my instict more.
"It's my fault. I wasn't strong enough to get out of the mirror. We would have arrived earlier," Damon defended me. I looked at him. His figure is blurry. I didn't even realized that I'm about to cry already.
"Of course. It's a spell from me," she admitted.
My eyes grew big. She created Grustova?
"I-It was all your plan?" I stuttered. She looked at me blankly.
"To train you. To see if you're capable of this quest," she confessed. I bite my lower lip. This is all her doings?
"We are capable. We promised to take this lesson in our hearts forever. But please, don't hurt her no more," Damon said. I noticed how he tries to breakfree from an invisible string. I looked at him and smiled. No baby. I deserved to be called out like this.
Fiscio is just giving me a piece of her mind and it's for my own sake.
For Vortaxia's sake.
"Please! She hasn't completely adapted to this world. You will weaken her crystal!" Damon yells.
Why do I feel like I'm floating? I'm dizzy.
The last thing I saw was Fiscio's glowing eyes. I grabbed the bloody red rock inside my bag and handed it to her.
"W-We managed to get this," I said weakly and everything went black.
******
"What is this?" I asked. I can't hide the excitement in my voice. I've been wishing for this and I can't believe that he actually bought it for my birthday.
"I told you already that I really saved up just to give you this, didn't I?" Travis responded. I pouted my bottom lip. He's too kind.
"Here," he said and take the bracelet out of the box. "I engraved our acronyms there." I watched him put the bracelet on me. I smiled. It's so beautiful.
"Thank you," I said sweetly and stare at his eyes.
"I want you to remember me always," he said and raised his hand to touch my face. I jokingly did the same to his face. His jawline is too hard for me. My boy best friend is so handsome.
"I also want you to forgive me from what I'm about to do," he said. My head tilted.
"What-"
I was caught off guard when he suddenly close the gap in our faces. My eyes widened.
"Golden!"
"Golden!"
"Golden!"
Damon's voice wakes me up from my deep sleep. I looked at him with my small eyes. What the hell was that dream? I kissed Travis. Eww.
"Are you okay?" he asked. I looked at him with my face full of disgust.
What a weird dream.
"Where are we?" I asked and scanned the place.
"We did it baby. Fiscio gave us the clue," he said and smiled.
