All of a sudden, the ropes moves to our base and the front member step out from the line. We hear a loud whistle.
“Alright! Looks like the game ended in a blink of an eye! Congratulations to all of the winners! Let's give them a round of applause!” the president announced.
The loud claps and the yell of the crowd made the atmosphere alive and happy. We smile at each other.
“Good job!” I said with a wide and genuine smile. They are hugging and shaking each other's hands.
“Please remain in your seats! The first game is all about how to win a game with your team, how to build your confidence, and to boost your fighting spirits! Don't be sad for those who lost the game because we prepared a special gift for all of you!” the president added.
The students started to scream and clap their hands. While the lost groups are creating a line for accurate and clean distribution of the gifts.
“The target of our game is to build a strong communication through words and body language, each of the gifts contains one Keychain with a different design.”
I glanced at my teammates, they are watching the lost groups while opening their gifts.
“Recently, I told you that you cannot proceed to the next game because your game is different from the winners, just seat and relax, we will going to announce it later, stay tuned!”
They gave a round of applause after the cheerful announcement of the campus president.
A few minutes have been passed, the vice president of the campus step to the stage while holding the mic.
“5 minutes left and we are going to proceed to the next game, winners please stay with your group and start to build a plan and communicate to each other!”
Some of the students were drinking some water. I was watching them when someone handed me a bottle of water.
I looked at the person who was handing it. “You should drink it to gain some energy, I know you are tired from the first game,” he said while giving me a genuine smile.
“Thank you!” I replied. His eyes narrowed while his mouth was showing a wide smile.
“Astrid! Are you hungry? I bought some sandwiches in case that you feel hungry, just tell me, okay?” I nodded when Hailey asked me and appeared out of nowhere.
“Alright, let's begin the next game! For participating in this game, the winners from the recent game will be divided into two groups, it's your choice if you want to stay in your group,” the vice president announced.
“We are going to give you at least 2 minutes to decide whether to change your group or stay in your group, the timer starts now!”
I heard the people gasping and whispering to each other. I watched the other group if someone will leave the group.
Furthermore, I glanced at my back, who knows if someone is willing to leave our group.
Hailey puts one arm to my shoulder, I slumped down because her arm is so heavy. It's like you are carrying a half-sack of rice!
“Alright! Let's begin! Our next game was called Block the offense team.” The crowd is waiting for the master of the ceremony to continue her instruction.
“We have two different teams, which are the offense and the defense,” the vice president started to explain.
“We will be having a toss coin, so we can identify which is the defense and which is the offense.”
Some of the officers were writing some horizontal lines on the ground, and some of them are writing some vertical lines that creates a large square that was divided into 10 boxes.
“Did you see those lines? Those are the area where the defense can only move, once you are in your designated line, it's the only place that you can block the offense team, if the time has already done and the offense team didn't make it to pass without losing, the teams will be the exchange of roles.”
My mind is a bit confused. “What did she say?” Hailey asked. I shook my head because I can't hear her.
“Let me announce it again.” The crowd became silent for a moment.
“We are going to toss a coin to know who is the offense and defense team,” she paused and gulped.
“Those lines are the only area where the defense can move to block the offense, if the time limit is already done and the offense didn't make it to the end, the team will exchange the roles,” she summarized.
“Is that clear?” she asked. “Yes!” the players said in unison.
“Alright, since group 1 is the first number, what would you like to choose? Head or tail?” I looked at my groupmates.
“What we should choose? Leader? Assistant leader?” our groupmate asked. Yoru looked at him, while Hailey and I were waiting for his answer.
“We are going to choose the tail,” he replied with a blank and serious tone.
“Alright, group 1 is the tail, while group 4 is the head, let's toss the coin!” The campus president tosses the coin into the air.
Most of the students follow where the toss was going to fall.
In a blink of an eye, the officer catches it before it lands on the ground. He covers it using his palm to add some tense in waiting.
“Alright! The Defense team is group 4 and the offense team is group 1! We are going to give you two minutes to prepare and go to your designated area! Time starts now!”
The loud music spreads to all of the areas.
I'm in the middle while Hailey was at the back, Yoru is located behind me and Yuan is in front of me.
Our classmates go to their area and they are focused on the offense team.
“Just keep in mind, pushing the other players is prohibited! Just block them and if your hands touch their body it is counted point to your team! So, let's begin!”
The crowd became wild again. The faces of the defense team become serious while beads of sweat are dripping down to the side of their head.
“In a count of three, Yuan will be going to the right side while Hailey is going to the left side to distract the attention of the player,” Yoru stated.
“Roger!” the team said in unison. The timer started.
All the players move while they are in their area. They started to block all the spaces included in the base.
“One! Two! Three! Move!” The crowd begins to make some noises.
I feel like we are moving like an insect with a lot of feet and hands.
Furthermore, I already passed to the three defense players, while Hailey was stuck in the area.
“What happened to you? Why are you still here? Let's go!” I exclaimed while holding her arm.
“Wait, look at the man in front of us,” she whisper. I glanced at the person that she's pointing out.
“He is serious and ready to touch us with all of his energy, what do you think will happen if we passed together?” she asked.
I became silent for a moment. “We should wait for others, so we can distract him,” I replied.
“Alright, if we go together, there's a high chance that he will be going to tap us.” I nodded and agree with her words.
In a split second, our classroom treasurer was at the other side, so the blocker face him.
I walked immediately and pulled her hands.
Now, we are near to the end. The blockers are waiting for us to pass, the other side is empty.
We need to make a plan. I glanced at Hailey. “We should think about it carefully,” I whispered. She nodded.
I have a plan, but my guts are telling me something.
