“A pleasant morning to all of you! The most awaited has come to its end! Please be informed that everyone can participate! Welcome to all of you!” the council president greeted.
“Each game has special prizes! Come and join the game with your loved ones or guardians. Have fun!” he added.
He left the stage and the music started to convey the whole Announcement Hall. I looked around and try to search for Hailey.
I saw someone was waving at me. “Astrid! Over here!” My head turned in her direction. I immediately walk to their place.
“Oh, you are with Yuan?” I gasped. They both nodded as a sign of their response.
“Let's go to the room and we are going to assist the parents,” Hailey suggested. I agree with her and follow them until we reached the room.
I became silent for a while, I can't forget what they say to me last night. When those events are coming back to my mind, I felt like something is stabbing my chest.
I'm witnessing their action. On how they are holding their hands without minding the people around them.
On how they talk to each other and smile while looking into each other's eyes. Maybe, there's something to Hailey that Yuan saw from her.
I glanced at Yuan. He was just letting Hailey to pulled him somewhere. I gasped when someone touches my shoulder.
“Dear, Can I have some glass of water, please? My throat is just dry,” the lady asked. I smiled at her and genuinely give her a glass of water.
“Thank you! I'm just bored sitting in here, I thought the event will start this morning but it turns out that the event will start in the afternoon,” she stated while shaking her head.
“Same, Ma'am, I thought it will be unforgettable moments, I need to go, please excuse me and sorry for the short time,” I said while awkwardly saying goodbye to her.
I searched around the room. Hailey and Yuan disappeared from my sight. I took a deep sigh and let it out slowly.
My shoulder slumped down and I'm just looking at the ground while walking in the hallway.
I left the room because most of them are guardians or relatives that want to see their son or daughters.
“Attention Please! After 5 minutes, I will announce our first game! I hope that all of you will participate in this game!” the president of the council announced.
“Please be informed that you need to play with your classmates! The 5 minutes will start now!” The music conveyed once again.
I raised my eyebrow while looking at the Master of Ceremony, he gave us only 5 minutes just to find a group.
“Hey! Why are you still standing? Come here before the other people will come to join a group!” Hailey shouted to me.
I turned my head in her direction. She was smiling and waving her hands. I glanced at the people around her.
The group consists of the class president, Hailey, Yuan, and— Yoru? I blink multiple times just to clear my vision.
“3 minutes left, I will give you another clue about the game! The group should consist of 10 members, one will be the team leader and one will be the assistant leader! Find your team now!” the campus president added.
The crowd started to make some noise to spice up the scene. “Hi! Can I join your group if you don't mind?” someone asked.
She gave me a sweet smile and courageous looks. “Sure, we should be complete right now,” I stated.
After a few seconds, we were completed. 5 minutes have passed and the members are serious.
I looked serious on the outside, but deep inside I want to laugh because of their faces. Take note, I'm not mocking them or what, I'm just happy that they look so eager to win this game.
“Alright! Let's start the game! First thing, I will tell you the instructions for this game, we have a long rope with a flag in the middle,” he paused while showing us the rope with a mark on the middle.
“Two teams will going to play against each other by pulling the rope if the flag goes to your base, you win, then if you lose, you will not be able to proceed to the next game!” he instructed.
“I will pick a number from the bag, then please proceed to the right side.” He started to shake and jumbled the things inside the bag.
“Okay, by the way, your team number is according to your place right now,” he added. I gasped and gulped to clear my throat.
My shoulder slumped down and I glance at the ground. We are group 1! I scratched my nape and took a deep breath.
“Our first team, Group 4! Please proceed to the right side and the campus officers will assist you!” he instructed. Group 4 started to walk.
They are serious and you can't imagine that someone will defeat them. After all the things were set.
The president picks up another number. “Our next team is— Group 2! Please proceed to the left side and the campus officers will assist you!” They started to go to their designated location.
“Alright! It seems like everything is all set! You have 5 minutes to pull the rope and a chance to win a great prize! Let's the game begin!” The loud music started.
The officers told us that we should sit down while watching them until they've finished the game.
In the first attempt, group 4 has the strong gripped to hold the rope. I think the rope is thicker that it can hold you and prevent you from falling.
The veins in their body are appearing. “GO! GROUP FOUR! DON'T LET THE OTHER TEAM WIN! GO GROUP 4!” Hailey shouted. I glared at her because it feels like her voice is echoing in my mind.
On the second attempt, the flag was close to Group 2's base and just a little bit pulled, they are going to win!
“Go! Fight! You can do this!” Yuan watched her as she shouted and cheered for the group. I shook my head and glanced at the ground.
All of a sudden, the students yell and when I looked at the teams, group 4 was the winner.
“Alright! We have a winner for this first batch! Congratulations to all of the group 4! You may sit down and relax your body! Let's proceed to the next players!”
We stand up and wipe off all the dirt from the clothes. I forgot to bring an extra shirt.
"Group 1, please proceed to the right side and group 3 proceed to the left side, our campus officers will assist you,” the campus president said.
When we reached the area, Yuan decided to go to the front while Yoru decided to go to the back.
Before we went into this area, I heard that they are talking to each other about how they will going to play this game.
While I place myself at the back of Hailey. Automatically, Hailey was at the back of Yuan.
We hold tightly the rope and focus on the flag in the middle. I saw the line that separate our base from the other base.
My heart started to pump like a beating drum.
“Alright! Looks like we are ready to begin! 5 minutes of pulling, but if the flag already reaches your base and the front member step outside the line, we are done!” the president cheerfully announced.
“The timer starts now!” The loud music echoed in my mind. It feels like the music is crawling to my body just to add some nervousness.
We pulled it together. At first, it's so heavy, it's like you are carrying a heavy and strong force.
Well, they are pulling it to the other side, so they are releasing some force and energy.
In a blink of an eye, the rope moves to the other side.
