I was holding my head when someone stands immediately.
“I'm sorry, Miss,” He said while his voice was stuttering. I blinked a couple of times when I finally lift my head.
“Y-Yoru?” My eyes widen. It's him! He was holding the side of his head while he's lending his hand.
“Are you okay?” I grabbed his hand and I stand up immediately. I wiped and fix my uniform before I finally face him.
“I'm sorry, I'm not aware of my surroundings,” I whispered while my head was hanging low and my shoulder was slumped down.
“Nah, please excuse me, I'm in a hurry, I'm sending my deepest apologies, Miss Astrid.” I nodded and smiled at him.
My sight followed his actions while he's making his way to the table where the group of students was sitting.
He grabbed the arm of the guy with dark hair, and they went out of the cafe. I gasped, it's the guy who ordered some glazed donuts and the popular coffee.
I glanced at the wall clock. Time flew so fast and I can't even notice that it's already 5:30 in the afternoon.
3 hours and 30 minutes to go before my work time will end.
“Astrid! Back to earth! Why are you just standing in the middle of the hallway? Move! Are you a snail? Move!” the familiar voice reaches my ears.
“Roger!” My lips pressed together into a thin line and I move immediately and fast as I can.
“Table number 5! The latte was already done!” I nodded and went to the counter with the tray.
“Chocolate glazed donut! To table number 7!” My workmates are fast and they move like they have enough speed to take all the orders.
I do not doubt that the coffee here is delicious and satisfying. It's seen in how the people will go to eat and sip the coffee.
Sometimes, when I'm looking at their faces to see their reactions, I'm glad that they are satisfied and happy.
Plus, I'm happy to serve them with all my heart just to see them smile and they much appreciated my service.
After 3 hours or more, we are just waiting for the last customer to finish his business before we're going to close the cafe.
“Hey, do you think, he's just sipping it slowly so he will stay here for a little while?” Kaye asked while wiping the tray.
“What can you see? Maybe, not,” I responded. She continued her actions.
“How old is he? Make a guess.” I smiled at her before I stared at the guy's back.
“From its back, I think he's in the mid-20s? How about you?” I asked. She looked at the guy and she observes his movement.
“I think, it's 30, I already saw him earlier and he's wearing an eyeglass with a thick lens,” she answered.
From my observations, I never heard of his voice, he's just writing it without looking at the paper.
He was just reading the book all the time.
“Hey! You two, stop gossiping about the others, especially when it comes to our customers!” My heart starts to pound.
It's our Manager, “I'm sorry for that,” I whispered while my head was hanging low. I also heard the voice from Kaye.
“We are not going to do it again,” I added. Kaye was gasping for air.
“Relax, after a few minutes, our job for tonight is already completed,” our Manager said while the corner of his lips was raised.
“So, the man that you're talking about was our Boss.” My eyes widen and my jaw dropped. Kaye was accidentally lost some grip on the tray.
My heart was still racing and my hands were trembling.
“Hmm.” The man turned his head in our direction. Beads of sweat are streaming at the side of my head.
I felt like my ears were turning red.
“What happened? I heard some noise coming from the kitchen, does the tray was not broken? You will pay for it, Kaye.” The cold voice was coming from our Boss.
He stood up and begin to walk while holding his mug.
“Where's the Barista? The coffee was not good.” His aura is giving me some chills. It's crawling from my feet into my nape.
“The blend was not the usual style, where's the manager in charge?” He asked. Our manager raised his hands.
“Good, I thought you're going to be absent for tonight, I want you to come to my office tomorrow morning, don't let me wait for you.”
Our manager nodded while staring directly into his eyes. I looked at the ground, I think, I can't handle myself if I'm going to look to our Boss.
“Miss Astrid!” My heart stopped beating. “Yes? Sir!” I shouted. He glared at me and scanned my whole body.
“You're the new waiter, right? A college student?” I nodded while my eyes were looking above his eyebrow.
“Look me in the eyes! Don't talk to me like that!” I automatically stared at his eyes.
“Yes, sir,” I whispered. His eyebrow raised.
“Are you scared?” I didn't answer. It took him some minutes before he speaks.
“Starting tonight, I will drink some coffee from here and maybe it's a good strategy to observe the rest of you! I don't like to be treated like a boss here, I want you to treat me like the common customer, understand?”
Our seniors responded to him while Kaye and I were still looking at the ground.
“Seniors! Please guide these two students, don't tell them any information or threats about the coffee shop!” I raised my eyebrow.
Really? Saying those types of words were tickling my curiosity.
“Please, it's a pleasure to me if the two of you will gain some experience from here,” he said with a soft voice.
“Okay, all of you can go home now, besides it's already dark outside, please be careful and watch your steps, you might be able to step on their traps.”
Traps? What kind of traps? Like, the traps they are putting on the forest or mountains? Or like the traps made from the people who would like to fool someone.
Which one? I scratched my nape.
“Uhm... Boss... Mister? May I go home?” I whispered. He answered that I can go home like he just said earlier.
I gave some signals to Kaye that she should follow me and we are going to go home together, besides it's dangerous like what they just said.
However, I just don't want to happen that kind of scenario last night.
I texted my father and I said that I'm with my workmate. He said that we should wait for him in front of the cafe.
“Hey, I'm not expecting that, by the way, he's gorgeous and his charisma was good.” I shrugged my shoulder.
She's always like that, whenever she sees some handsome or gorgeous boys, she will be lost her control.
If you know what I mean, she's always looking for boys. Handsome and hot boys. However, those boys are not affecting me.
“Hey, Astrid, I wonder if you have been experiencing having a crush on someone.” I took a deep breath and let it out slowly.
“I'm not interested for now, my top priority is to gain some money from a decent job and support my family.” She shrugged her shoulder.
Come to think of it, most of their child wants to give their parents some support and they want to reach their goals.
It's hard, but when you keep reaching those goals, it will fall into your hands.
My father arrived, “Let's go, Kaye?” She nodded. We went inside the car and my father started to drive.
When I'm looking outside, something caught up my attention. It's a silhouette, I think it's a dog? What's that? There's something on its mouth.
Meat?
