Darcy.
It was a meeting I had thought I would see him wearing a tie and a jacket. But I was shocked to the core, seeing him wearing just a black shirt with the sleeves rolled up, and the top button opened. He smelled nice, and I felt the urge to leave my face pressed on his back. Maybe this is a good privilege that I am the only one who can come close to him. I am starting to like the idea just by thinking about it. “Do you want to let go of me or what?” Alpha Anthony asked. Irritation filled his entire voice.
“I am sorry.” I apologized, walking back. I didn’t realize that I had pressed my entire body on his, my head pressing on his shoulders.
He let out a hiss, walking ahead of us. “He gets angry easily, so I think you should be on your best behavior and ignore everyone at the meeting.” Beta Michael warned.
“I don’t want any attraction, so I would be staying at the far end so that no one would recognize me, and I hope they won’t pick up my scent. It is frustrating.” I signed, making him let out a chuckle.
He continued to warn me about where I should stay and how I should act in the hall. It wouldn’t be easy, but for my safety, I have to try and avoid everyone there. They already hate me and want to feast on me, so imagine what would happen when they pick up my scent in the hall. It would end, especially if Alpha Anthony did not stand up for me. “We are here.” Beta Michael informed.
I took a deep breath, gathering all my courage before stepping inside. My eyes were plastered on the floor, scared someone might recognize me by looking into my eyes. “Stand here.” Alpha Anthony ordered.
It was just a few meters away from his seat on the stage. The hall was filled up, everyone quieting down when he stepped into the hall, and they made sure to keep their distance. Because of his aura, everyone in the hall tried their best not to even be a meter close to him they didn’t want to end up in the hospital or a mortuary. “Anthony.” A lady in a lab coat called out from her seat, waving her hand at him.
I had thought that he would ignore her, but instead, he smiled at her, returning her wave, and then she mouthed something to him, which made him laugh. “Who could that be?” I asked myself.
“That is Bridget, the pack’s doctor and Alpha Anthony’s close friend.” Beta Michael cropped up to me. My heart almost jumped out of its rib cage because I was frightened when I heard his voice behind me. “You might want to be on your best behavior around her.”
“How come you can stay close to me without getting affected?” I questioned, ignoring what he had just told me about Bridget. She is my least worries because I have never crossed paths with her. I won’t and never will. “Whenever someone comes close to me, they always go manic,” I added.
“It is because of the drugs that the pack witch gave me and some of the guards at the pack house. It stopped us from acting crazy, and earlier, this place was sprayed with some herbs to stop people from going maniac.” He explained, then ran to the stage when his name was called.
That explains why they didn’t react to me being here, and it was too good to be true that they were ignoring me. When the meeting started, I paid less attention to it, especially when my father’s eyes couldn’t leave mine.
He bored into me while playing with my stepbrother. “We have to talk after the meeting.” My father signed.
I knew what he would say and how he would act, but I couldn’t think of how it would end. Would he try to go against Alpha Anthony and drag me home? Because I am sure that his wife is tired of doing the housework and needs help. The meeting was about the prince of Eldora who met his mate here, and it was short and brief.
And since the wedding had to be grand, they asked Alpha Anthony if they could move everything back to Eldora. “I have no reason to stop you from doing whatever you had wished. Just remember that if something should happen to her, I won’t hesitate to walk down on you.” Alpha Anthony had warned through gritted teeth.
The prince of Eldora promised nothing of such would happen and then went ahead to wish that he could shake hands with the Alpha, which couldn’t be possible in any way. The hall was getting emptied, but my father stayed back. “Could I please speak to my father?” I asked Alpha Anthony in the most polite way I could ever think of.
“What part of you are mine and not allowed to leave my side, don’t you understand?”
I bowed my head down my question undoubtedly irritated him. Beta Michael was right when he said that he gets angry very quickly. “My father had requested to speak to me alone, but I couldn’t go without letting you know. I am sorry if you found it offensive.” I communicated
“If he wants to talk to you, then he knows where and how he can get to meet you. But for now, we will be going back home.”
I felt slightly happy because I wasn’t ready to talk with him. It would always end with me feeling wrong about my existence. I looked around the hall my father stood there without moving an inch. “We have to go.” I signed.
“Alpha Anthony has something to do at home,” I added.
He tried his best to hide his anger, but his brows creased, and I could make up what was on his mind. “How dare she?” He wouldn’t blame Alpha Anthony for whatever happened, but me. It was my choice that I didn’t stay back to talk to him.
“I hope that we never cross paths, father.” I prayed.
