Anthony.
Darcy was the least on my mind when I woke up with a hangover this morning. Neither did I expect to find her standing in the middle of my bedroom when I came out from a bath. She was holding a tray with a jug and a teacup, then some cookies.
My voice must have jolted her as she couldn’t say anything. She shook under the dim light, the cutleries on the tray making a weird sound. “I asked you a question. What are you doing here?” I repeated myself.
If she had brought the tea for me, she would have kept it and gone her way the moment she came in. I knew when she did because I heard the door knock and when she walked in. Darcy finally dropped the tray by the stand, and she brought out a note and a pen from under her shirt. “Just sign, Darcy,” I demanded, already getting worked up with my decision.
Is keeping her by my side worth it? Seeing that we are just a day in, I am already tired that she can’t voice out anything. “I came to give this hangover tea to you.” She communicated.
“Then you should have dropped it when you didn’t see me,” I said, walking away from the bathroom’s doorway.
My waist twisted gently with every step, pride overtaking my entire body while I let Darcy take a close look at my body. “I am sure Beta Michael has informed you that I will be taking you to the meeting today, so get ready in the next ten minutes and meet us outside,” I ordered.
I didn’t turn to see what she had signed until she left the room. I glanced at the tray on the bed, contemplating if I should try it or not. Due to my allergies, no one among the maids wanted to come close to me I was not too fond that they had to come to me every morning with a hangover tea, so I stopped that.
Beta Michael tried to keep up with that, but there was always a lot for him to stand, so he had to stop since it wasn’t like I would die if I didn’t drink any hangover tea. My stomach grumbled in disagreement, and I picked up the tray, trying the tea first. “It doesn’t taste as bad as I had thought,” I commented, taking another sip.
The smell was a different thing that could have convinced me not to take a sip of the tea, but I let my mind wonder what it would taste like, and I ended up liking it. I paired the tea with the cookies until there was nothing left and went back to get ready.
Today’s meeting was at the pack hall for an international wedding. The prince of the Eldora has seen his mate in this pack, and they were willing to make allies with us so that everything will go alright. Almost everyone around the world knows about my allergy. Some of them would come close to me to see if it was real, and they always end up at the hospital, trying to nurture back into my health.
If I hadn’t found Darcy, who doesn’t seem to be allergic to me, then the meeting would have been held without me. Because of the allergy, I missed a lot of important meetings, although Beta Michael had to fit in for me and has always been the right person to fit in. Without him, I would have been down the drain by now.
By the time I had fully dressed, the plate containing the cookies was empty, and I felt my stomach wanting more. This was the first time I had eaten everything on the plate and wanted more. It is surprising at the same time. I decided the thought of asking Darcy for more cookies and went out of the room.
When I stepped out, everyone walked back, giving me the way to pass. They all don’t want to end in a death-like situation like the rest that stayed close to me. I also don’t want them close to me, and it irritates me.
As I stood outside the house, taking in the fresh air and letting myself bathe in the sun, I noticed Darcy and Beta Michael conversing. She had a smile on her face as Beta Michael spoke, and then she responded with a sign. During our youth years, I was forced by my father to learn sign language because he believed that it was going to come in handy one day.
Beta Michael was by my side during that time, and he offered to attend those classes with me so that I wouldn’t feel lonely and left out when kids my age were playing. “Even if I were left to join them, it wouldn’t have lasted long.” I reminded myself.
If the kids had let me close to them, they would have been long gone due to my strong aura. “Michael,” I called out.
They jumped at my voice before he whispered something to her, before coming to me, but he kept his distance. “is it time for the meeting, or would you keep on talking to Darcy while time passes?” I asked, irritated.
“I am sorry, Alpha Anthony. I had no idea that you were out already.” He apologized with a bow.
I ignored him, walking past both of them. Why do I feel unease seeing that way? I am sure that he was asking her about how everything is in the house, right? I stopped, making Darcy almost fall on me. “Cover your face,” I ordered.
Covering her face wouldn’t do anything, but it would lessen the attention that her scent would attract. The next thing that I have to work on is how to get rid of her stealer scent because I can’t have the men around the pack going maniac when she is around them all the time.
