Darcy.
I opened my mouth to speak out but then kept shut. No matter how I tried, no words could form out of my mouth. I patted the maid standing before me, hoping she would understand what I meant. “I need hot water to make hangover tea for the Alpha.” I signed.
She raised her brows in confusion, calling the attention of someone around the kitchen. “Do you know sign language?” the first maid asked the other.
“No, what does she want?” I sighed because if none of them understood what I meant, how would I prepare hangover tea for Alpha Anthony? Last night, when I had taken Alpha Anthony to his room, I had wanted to stay by ten doors, to be close to him, so that he wouldn’t look for me when he was awake.
Now, he is my savior. Without him, I would have crumbled and died from the attacks of the men in the pack. Even if he treats me wrongly, he keeps me safe at the end of the day. “What is going on here?” a voice asked.
We all formed a straight line, our heads facing the floor. Beta Michael walked majestically into the kitchen, his hands behind him and a note in his hands. “She came here to say something, but we could not understand sign language.” The first girl informed, never lifting her head.
“What do you want, Darcy?” he asked me, and I signed again.
He nodded before relaying my question to the girls. “oh.” They both exclaimed before running about in the kitchen to get me what I had requested. “Take this, and I am sure you can read and write.” Beta Michael passed the note and the pen that he was holding.
My face beamed with happiness as I bowed my head politely. “Thank you.” I signed. I like him he is friendly and doesn’t treat me harshly, just like the rest.
“You are welcome. Make the tea because Alpha Anthony will be awake soon, and he has a meeting to attend this morning, which I am sure he will be going with you.” Beta Michael informed.
I nodded before writing out the herbs that I needed for the tea, and I passed it to one of the girls. “I think we have everything in the store room, and I will get it for you.” The second girl said before running out of the kitchen. Beta Michael was long gone, leaving us alone.
My body shook with anxiety, thinking about what they would say to me. Would they hate me? Just the way everyone does, or would they open up to me and accept me just like that? I swallowed hard, picked on the pen, and scribbled on the note. “My name is Darcy. Nice to you.” I wrote.
“My name is Heath.” She responded.
Heath, I thought only males go with that name, but for her to tell me her name is a huge step, and I don’t want to be a dick by saying something that would make her run off. “I am sure you are wondering why I have Heath as my name. It was my father’s name, and he died the same day I was born.” I read her lips.
That made so much sense I don’t know the reason behind my name. I doubt that my father had any reason for naming me Darcy. I wouldn’t be surprised if he had called me the first thing that came to his mind or after someone he hated. I collected back the note from her hand. “It is a very nice name, Heath.” It was short and polite.
“I thought you would mock me for my name, just like the rest of the people do, but I see you are different. I like you.” She commented.
I could only flash her smile. Our lives are similar, although I don’t know what happened in hers. There is more to what her eyes were willing to show, just like what I always go through and keep in my heart. I can see that there could be a future between me and Heath.
Before I could scribble down what was in my mind, the back door opened, and the girl who had run to get me the herbs returned. “I am sorry that I took so long. I had to search for the keys.” The young girl apologized.
I flashed her smile with a nod before getting it from her, and Heath helped me with the kettle. I poured everything inside, then placed it in the oven and let it steam over. “This is Ella. She is just like me, and I am sure you will like her.” Heath introduced.
We shook hands with a smile before I promised to return when I was done with Alpha Anthony. I dragged my feet out of the kitchen, holding a tray filled with tea and some fresh cookies, which I was not sure he would like. If he doesn’t, then I would try for more until he ends up wanting one.
I took a breath, standing in front of Alpha Anthony’s room, giving it a knock. A minute passed, and he did not respond, so I slowly opened the door, meeting the room dim. Only light from the side lamp flashed the room. I looked around the room, taking in everything.
Despite the dim light, it looked breathtaking, shining under the light. The art was captivating, alongside the arrangement of everything in the room.
I had expected to see clothes littering around, packs of cigarettes, or even worse, but I was surprised. Alpha Anthony isn’t like my father, there is a huge difference between them.
“What are you doing here?” Alpha Anthony’s voice roared through the entire room. I stood straight, unable to think of anything.
The tray in my hand was a hindrance for me to pen out my response or sign out what was on my mind.
