Chapter 11

Later, someone called an ambulance.
I heard Chloe miscarried from the fall—had to have a hysterectomy.
She could never have children again.

Two weeks later, Bella sent me a live stream link.
Chloe was online, ranting about Ryan.
She seemed spaced out, murmuring to herself.
A bit unhinged, really.
“That scumbag! He used me for money and pleasure! Made me lose my uterus! I curse him to die without a whole body!”
“After my miscarriage, he didn't call once! Didn't care at all! Bankrupt, bankrupt—heavenly spirits, earth spirits, I curse him to go bankrupt!”

“Abracadabra! Bankrupt! Bankrupt!”
The comments were flooded with two kinds of remarks,
“She's lost it. She really needs to see a therapist.”
“Someone, quick—tag the director of the psychiatric hospital.”

I sat in my rocking chair, eating watermelon, watching the stream with great amusement.
Three months later, the second court hearing.
Just as Lawyer Chen said.
The second trial—the judge granted the divorce immediately.
I got every penny I was owed, and my son stayed with me.
I walked out of the courthouse smiling, said goodbye to Lawyer Chen, and planned to celebrate with Bella over dinner.
Ryan quickly caught up to me, his voice dripping with malice,
“Even if we're divorced, there's one thing you can never change, Ethan will always have my blood running through his veins! He will always be my son! When he finds out how you destroyed his father, ruined his family, do you think he'll ever forgive you?”
I paused, then smiled and retorted,
“In Ethan's world, there will be no trace of you, Ryan. So how would any of what you said even matter?”
“You think our son is a weapon you can use against me? The child I gave birth to will only ever be my strongest armor!”
Ryan's face darkened with threat,
“What man would ever want to be a stepdad? To sleep with a woman I've already worn out! Go ahead—try to find one. I'll ruin every relationship you have. Let's see who lasts longer.”
Bam!
Before I could speak, Bella punched Ryan in the face.
She was a black belt in taekwondo. Ryan spat blood, his face livid,
“Bella! Are you insane? How dare you hit me!”
Bella rolled her shoulders, sneering,
“I've been wanting to punch you for ages. Go ahead—sue me. I welcome it.”
Ryan froze, his face filled with hatred and resentment.
He didn't dare sue Bella.
He was scared.
“Let's go. Time for drinks,” I said, taking Bella's hand.
We drove away from the courthouse.
I was ready to embrace my new life!
