Damn it, Claire really didn’t know how she got herself in this situation. This is supposed to be her first time meeting her mother-in-law, but no one has told her it would be like this!
“Jake, if you had told me all these earlier, I would have gladly married you.”
Claire regretted her choice, but it was all too late.
She slowly walked to my mom’s side.
It took Claire quite some time to reach my mom even though it was less than ten meters away.
When Claire was about to speak, my mom slowly raised her hand up.
Being interrupted, Claire didn’t dare to utter a word.
Mom lifted Claire’s chin.
“Such a beautiful face, what a pity.”
Claire couldn’t help but cry.
“Why are you crying? Why didn’t you cry as well when you handed over my son’s projects to your lover?”
“So...I’m sorry, ma'am.”
Mom chuckled, shook her head and said, “You are not wrong. You know you’re going to die. But you are lucky. I have told you before, we are not as cruel as you think. You all will get what you deserve.”
As she finished speaking, the phone in Claire’s pocket started to ring.
Mom glanced over to Claire, who seemed lost.
“What are you standing there for? Pick up your phone?!”
She shakily took out her phone from her pocket. She dropped her phone a few times in the process.
She finally managed to pick up her phone from the floor and answered the incoming call.
“Hello, how are you?”
