Amber questioned me with red eyes, her gaze fierce enough to eat someone alive.
"Your taste in men is terrible. I just crooked my finger, and he came running like a dog. But that wasn't enough."
"So after I found out you were pregnant, I deliberately got pregnant by your husband too. I had the babies switched just to torture your child."

"Just thinking about my child enjoying the best life right under your nose, while your son could only wait by my side for my pity, made me feel ecstatic."
Looking at this aggressive Amber, the last trace of pity in my heart completely vanished.
"It's a pity you ended up harming your own child."
"Why did I inherit the family business and not you? Because you're not a child of the Collins family."
"Back then, Dad was also a live-in son-in-law. But he had an affair, which caused Mom to go into early labor. He even had his mistress induce labor early for you, then brought you back, claiming you were his sister's child, trying to raise us as twins."
"He thought he could fool everyone. But what kind of people were Grandpa and Grandma? Within a month, they had investigated everything."

"If they hadn't worried about me losing my mom and then my dad, afraid gossip would affect me negatively, you would have been thrown out along with him years ago."
"Even Dad was living off the Collins family! You, an illegitimate child, what right do you have to compete with me for the Collins fortune?"
"Grandpa and Grandma told me all this the year we graduated. If it weren't for the bond of growing up together, do you think I would have tolerated you using my money to act outrageously all these years?"
Amber looked like she'd been struck. She turned to look carefully at Dad, hoping for a different answer from him. But Dad just turned away awkwardly, not daring to meet her eyes.

"You're lying! You're lying!"
Amber roared at Dad.
"Vanessa! No matter what, I am your father! They say don't air dirty laundry in public! Why did you have to say this? What about the Collins family upbringing?"
"And no matter what, Amber is your sister! Jax was your nephew! If you knew the truth all along, why didn't you say it sooner!"
"If you hate us, hate us! Jax was just an innocent child who knew nothing! Why couldn't you let him go!"
Dad felt guilty towards Amber and didn't dare scold her, so he turned to scold me instead.
Seeing his ashamed anger after being exposed, I truly felt Mom's life was wasted on such a man.
"Stop pretending, Dad. Wasn't Jax's death exactly what you wanted?"
As soon as I finished speaking, a flicker of guilt passed over Dad's face.
But the next second, he spoke righteously. "What did I want? Haven't I been good enough to these two children all these years?"
"From food and clothing to the schools they attended, which one wasn't arranged by me?"
"Even though I knew Amber didn't like Jax, I often bought him clothes and toys, secretly took him out for good food. When he was beaten or sick, I was the one who took him to the hospital. Haven't I done enough?"
"If I really wanted him dead, I could have just ignored him when he was beaten, sick, or had a fever. Why go to such lengths?"
Dad's ability to twist the truth was impressive. Those who didn't know better could easily believe his words, thinking he was a kind, doting grandfather.
Only I knew it wasn't true.
He did do those things over the years, but only because he didn't know which child would ultimately inherit the Collins family.
He didn't want to miss any opportunity to curry favor with the future heir of the Collins family.
After all, once I died, regardless of which child inherited, as their grandfather, he could hide behind them and be the true master of Collins Corp.
