I hung up—she wanted trouble.
Soon,she sent WhatsApp voice messages,cursing.
“How dare you, a hotel president, let Lily pay for your skincare?”
“You’re nothing compared to Lily—no wonder my son prefers her.You deserve it!”
She’d dropped the act,knowing I wouldn’t reconcile.
As I moved to delete her, another voice message came.
“My son says you’re selling the house. We get half,or no divorce. We’ll drag this out—see who cracks first.I’m not in a hurry, hmph!”
How shameless! Why should I split the proceeds from the sale of my house??
I had to set her straight.
“Then return the gifts I gave you.And the red envelopes for relatives—I paid those.Pay me back.”
I sent the voice message,furious.
Seconds later, she screamed back,“How petty of you, demanding a few bucks? It’s just a couple hundred dollars!”
Petty?Every gift was branded, but I’d lied, saying they were cheap to avoid her nagging.
The red envelopes for kids?I gave$120 each time;my ex gave me$30.I only did it for his face.
Having had enough of her, I deleted her WhatsApp number. Out of sight, out of mind.
Just as I was preparing to put on a face mask, an unknown number called.
It was my ex-husband,commanding,“I’ll repay the gifts and envelopes, but the house sale splits 50-50.”
I took a deep breath, trying to stay calm.
He and his mom were cut from the same cloth.
Ignoring him,I blocked the number immediately.
No time for anger—I needed to sell the house and cut ties.
I called the agent who’d seen the house. We settled on$2.7 million.
The next day, the agent arrived with potential buyers.
But my ex-husband,his mother, and Lily blocked the door, refusing entry.
“We’re still living here!You can’t sell!”his mother shrieked,hands on hips.
“Exactly,this is trespassing!”Lily chimed in.
I laughed in disbelief.“I told you to move out yesterday. The deed’s in my name—how’s it yours?”
“It’s ours because we live here! You can’t sell without our say!”his mother argued.
“Yeah, and where are we supposed to go?”Lily added.
I saw their game—extortion.
“This house sells today!”I said firmly.“Block me again, and I call the cops!”
“Cops?Call them!See if they side with you against poor us!”His mother plopped on the ground, throwing a tantrum.
Lily pretended to cry, saying, “I’m so pitiful…”
