I thought this would had Ethan quiet.
Instead,he changed, coming to the hospital every day.
"Claire,I spent hours in the kitchen cooking this for you.Try it."

I ignored him, dumping it in the trash.
"Ethan,you have two choices."
"Agree to divorce, and we'll call it even."
"Or I’ll take this to the court, sue Lila for pushing me into the champagne tower and causing my injuries."
He didn't respond, eventually saying,"Claire,if it makes you happy,I'll sue her myself."
As he spoke,Lila's voice came from the door.

"Ethan, you'd have me arrested for her?"
Her face was pitifu with tears in her eyes.
But Ethan's face hardened, scolding,"You pushed Claire, causing her injuries, and you dare show your face?"
Lila's tears fell instantly.

"Ethan..."
"Get out!"
She ran off,sobbing.
I had no patience for their drama,I called the police outright.
After they took Lila,I placed a fresh divorce agreement before Ethan.
"Ethan, lemme tell you one last time."
"Divorce now. It's best for both of us."
He stayed silent, avoiding the topic as always.
He poured another bowl of soup, placing it before me.
"Claire,this soup's really good."
He held it in his hands, hopeful, urging me to try.
I knocked it from his hands.
"Ethan,how pathetic are you?"
"What's the point?Ending this is better for us both."
He stared at the spilled food, then cleaned it up immediately in silence.
Sitting beside me,he said,"I admit I've not done enough for you lately."
"But you know,Lila and I, there’s nothing between us."
I sneered,"It doesn't matter.We're divorcing."
His face stiffened.
I grabbed his hand, whispering,"Caldwell Corp's at itd critical listing stage.Any scandal now—you know the consequences."
"Especially if the scandal’s about you and Lila."
"You know better than me how far you two went."
His face went pale at once, staring in disbelief.
"Claire,do you have to be so ruthless?"
I released his hand, wiping mine with a tissue.
"Ethan,you forced me to."
He agreed to divorce.
Caldwell Corp couldn't afford one misstep.
His desperate attempts to keep me weren't just out of love—he feared trouble at this critical juncture.
Perhaps fate favored me.The day of our divorce was clear and bright.
