I opened the back door and slid in.
Lila spent the ride boasting about Ethan's devotion to her,but I ignored her, gazing out the window.
She eventually fell silent.

At the venue,Lila naturally took Ethan's arm.
I trailed behind them.
Entering the hall,a link was sent into a group chat.
I opened it.
A big screen displayed a photo of two people kissing, followed by a slideshow of the trivial moments they spent together.
I raised an eyebrow at Ethan, who cleared his throat awkwardly.

"Those photos are edited.Lila and I are just childhood friends."
I nodded,unbothered,and moved on.
Inside,I realized the event was for Sophia Bennett,a college dormmate and a close friend of mine.
Though we hadn't met in years, she grabbed my hand joyfully.

"Where have you been?Forgot about me?"
I smiled, patting her hand, and we chatted politely for a while.
As the event's star,she couldn't stay long.
I wasn't bored,I went nibbling at the buffet.
Soon I began to feel pain inmy abdomen again.
At first bearable,the pain sharpened.
Clutching my stomach,pale,I found Ethan.
"Ethan,my stomach hurts...Can you take me to the hospital first?"
He snapped impatiently,"Claire,I've told you a million times!Lila and I are just friends!"
"You don't need to make such excuses!"
"Unless we divorce, you're not going anywhere before this event ends."
I stared at him, speaking slowly and clearly,"Fine,I agree to divorce.Let's get the papers now."
He looked at me,stunned,as if he hadn't expected me to agree.
I had no time for his reaction.
Turning around to call an ambulance,I passed a tower of champagne.
Lila shoved me into it.
I stumbled, crashing into the pile of glasses.
Crash!
Glass shards pierced my flesh, liquor mixing with blood was flwoing across my body.
Ethan's eyes widened, moving to help, but Lila grabbed him.
For the first time,he pushed her away to reach me.
But I couldn't take it anymore.
Grabbing an intact glass,I threw it at Lila.
She dodged easily.
Ethan exploded, slapping me in the face.
"Enough!She didn't mean it!Apologize to her!"
"Or we’ll divorce right now!"
Covered in blood,I snatched a bottle from a waiter and smashed it on Ethan's head.
"You're nothing!I'm the one divorcing you!"
The noise drew Sophia.
Seeing me collapse,she caught me.
Noticing my face as white as a sheet and my body full of scars from glass shards, her anger flared.
Glaring at Ethan, she had me rushed to the hospital.
At the entrance,Ethan blocked our path.
"My wife doesn't need your concern,Ms.Bennett."
"I'll take her."
Sophia ignored him, having her bodyguard escorting him and Lila out.
Seeing me taken away,Ethan frowned but still followed in his car.
By the time he arrived,I was already in surgery.
The doctor approached with a consent form.
"The patient is eight weeks pregnant, but excessive bleeding means the baby can't be saved.Glass shards in her back require anesthesia for removal."
Ethan lunged at the doctor, incredulous,"You said she's pregnant?"
