Before I returned stateside, Sophie had set her sights not on Boston’s saint, but on the elite heir.
Unfortunately, Nathan didn’t give her a second look, forcing her to target his brother instead.
No wonder the hatred in her eyes grew deeper when she learned that I was carrying Nathan’s child, her hatred deepened. She’d always seen me as her rival.

Three months later, I roared from our bedroom:
“Nathan Sterling! Get in here!”
Nathan scrambled in, seeing the pregnancy test in my hand. He knew that the fact that he had poked holes in the condoms had been exposed.
He quickly hugged me and coaxed me softly, "I'm sorry, baby. I was just too insecure. I wanted to tie you down with a child, but I truly love you and our children. You can do whatever you want to me, but please don't get so angry that it harms your body..."
Reluctantly,I quit work to focus on the pregnancy.
But I didn’t rely on Nathan.I started investing, earning tens of millions.

Maybe I was too busy investing, because I nearly missed Sophie’s next move.
Pregnant again,Sophie went to a top clinic and confirmed it was a boy.
She moved back into the Sterling estate even with her big belly.
One day, she brought a bowl of bird's nest porridge and put on a show of apologizing to me:

“Claire, I’m sorry. I’ve been stubborn. Please forgive me.”
“Drink this bowl of bird's nest porridge today, and from now on, we sisters-in-law can get along well."
The bird's nest porridge in front of me had a light color and a delicate texture. It was obviously of top quality.
I reached for it. Sophie’s eyes curved with a smile.
But the next second, I turned my hand and dumped the bird's nest on her head. The soup and water soaked her all over.
“Ah!”
Sophie let out a scream and looked at me in disbelief. The sticky bird's nest dripped down her hair, making her look extremely embarrassed.Trying to harm the child in my belly had crossed my bottom line.
The money, status, fame, and Ethan’s love she craved—I’d take them all.
“Sophie, didn’t I warn you I wouldn’t spare you next time?”
This time, I didn’t tell Nathan, I directly called the police
She’d used Ethan’s status to intimidate me before, but now I was the elite heir’s wife. Let’s see who had more clout.
[Poisoning],[Pregnant Woman]—the evidence was ironclad.
Sophie was detained, but as a pregnant woman, her family was notified.
Cowering in Ethan’s arms, she raged, ”I’m a Sterling wife! I won’t go to jail!”
Ethan scowled, snapping at me, ”We’re family, Claire. You’re too harsh.”
I locked eyes with him and declared firmly, "I'm your sister-in-law, and I have every right to discipline you on Nathan's behalf." I slapped him.
These idiots thought I was a pushover.
Ethan, taken aback by the sudden slap, instinctively raised his hand to strike back. But Nathan was quicker. He grabbed Ethan's wrist with a firm grip and gave it a sharp twist.
Ethan yelped,”Bro,I’m your real brother!”
Nathan scoffed disdainfully. "I have no use for a brother as good-for-nothing as you."
My in-laws attempted to step in and smooth things over, but Nathan firmly rebuffed their efforts. After a few more attempts at mediation, Nathan took drastic action. He severed all business ties with his father's company, effectively crippling its cash flow and putting it in a precarious financial situation.
After a few tries, Nathan cut ties with his father’s company, crippling its cash flow.
Mr.Sterling stopped defending Ethan.
Ethan’s allowance was cut off entirely.
A bead-twirling saint without family backing—would he still shine?
Months passed, and I gave birth to another baby boy. While I was filled with love for my new child, I couldn't help but feel a twinge of disappointment. I had been longing for a soft, sweet little girl to complete our family.
One day, as I was passing by the emergency room, I caught a glimpse of a disheveled pregnant woman being rushed inside. I overheard snippets of conversation from the onlookers.
“They say her husband beat her, covered in bruises.”
“Poor soul. Her husband is a lazy good-for-nothing, always lost in his prayers while she has to go out and work, even in her delicate condition," another added, shaking their head in pity.”
“Her first was a girl, and this one might not make it…”
I didn’t listen further. I’m no saint—Sophie reaped what she sowed.
I took big strides forward. The bright future belonging to me and my children was still ahead.
