"When you were searching for me, you left samples at St. Mary's Hospital."
"Anyone with a lead could get a DNA test."
"You were so thrilled when Emily returned and you forgot."
"This is my test, just done.St.Mary's is Harper-owned—you won't think I faked it, will you?"
Science matters, so I'd prepared this test, hoping not to need it.
My parents rushed to read it.I'd done three tests—with my father, mother, and Nathan.
Each confirmed I was their daughter and their sister.
"Impossible!"
Emily was pale and stumbled back.
"How can this be?"
"I'm the Harper heiress—who are you?"
Just then, my father's phone rang.
A nervous voice came through, audible to all.
"Mr. Harper, a girl just picked up three DNA tests at St. Mary's."
"They show she's the real Harper heiress."
"She said her name was Claire Harper."
Everyone froze.
Guests started whispering.
"How can there be two DNA-tested heiresses?"
"No one said they were twins."
"This girl looks like Mrs. Harper when she was young."
The murmurs hit Emily, who was now the target of strange looks.
She reached for Nathan's hand, but he quietly pulled away.
Seeing my parents'silence, Emily turned to Daniel and tears streaming.
"Daniel, it's our engagement day."
"Don't you trust me?"
Daniel looked at her with pity and wiped her tears.
"Emily, don't cry."
"You're the only wife I want."
"I'd rather die than marry someone else!"
Emily sobbed, clinging to him.
Daniel glanced at his parents. His mother sighed, tugging his father's sleeve, hesitant.
With three DNA tests and Emily's evasiveness, the truth was clear.
But Daniel was set on protecting her, and this marriage was the Harpers'plea to join the Ashtons'new project.
Mr. Ashton came up to my father.
"Daniel's my only son."
"He'll inherit the Ashton empire."
"I want him to marry who he loves."
"It's better if it's a good match, but if not, so be it."
"But think carefully—if this marriage falls through, who will lose more?"
My father understood, glancing at my mother, who wavered.
"Emily's always been sweet, lovable."
"These five years, I've treated her like my own..."
Nathan stared at them, incredulous.
"Dad, Mom!"
"What are you saying?"
"Claire's your daughter, my sister."
"We failed her, let her get lost, made her suffer."
"Someone stole her life."
"Now she's back, and you're saying this?"
My parents were silent. A guest suddenly frowned.
"This girl looks familiar."
His face changed, and he rushed to me, excited.
"I remember!"
"Is Master Elias with you in the capital?"
